She had been away for a while now, and all she wanted was to find Bass and Rhythm and collapse in their comforting presence, and know everything would be alright. Her life had changed so drastically and the long journey to walk to the Southern lands. Well it had been beautiful to take it with Shaye, it had also been alien to have gone so long without her siblings. Her life had always revolved around those two wolves and that didn't change now, in the face of all else going on in her life.

The last stretch to Abaven lands was taken at a run, tearing across the earth in a massive, sweeping stride that swallowed the land. As she reached the territory of her brother out of breath she was forced to pause, and breath, take in all the familiar scents of his land until she felt she might weep before at last she raised her head and sang for him, her dearest sweet brother, her beloved sister, the wolves that gave her life meaning.

Motif was home. Rhythm's excitement could never be contained as she found herself scrambling to her feet with haste. Eagerly she would race across Abaven to get to her dear sister. She might have come with them, but knew that in the end it was better for her to be back here with Bass and his new pups. Motif knew how to take care of herself, obviously as she returned, hopefully unscathed. She'd also secretly hope that Shaye had come back with her.

Putting on such a burst of speed would deplete the air within her lungs, so she too would fight to catch her breath as she found her way to her sister's side. Breathing in her sweet scent and feeling her next to her once more was all she could have ever asked for. Shaye was nowhere to be seen, but she wouldn't dwell on such thoughts. Motif was back. A whine would filter through her lips as she embraced her litter mate, "Oh Motif, I've missed you!" Sparing no personal space in greeting her long traveled sibling. No other wolves could bring out such affections but these that she was born with.

Her howl almost fell upon deaf ears, and Bass almost didn't come. He was unhappy with Motif, as much as he loves her. She left in his greatest time of need, and was not here when Wren gave birth to his pups. She was not here when they first opened their eyes, spoke, or even when they first left the den. Bass had been there for her birthing, had even buried her boys that hadn't made it. But had she been there for him? No. She left, left him and went to go see the father of her pup. He didn't even know that she wasn't coming home with Shaye either, that she left her down there with a man she didn't even know. But after awhile, he rose to his paws and slowly made his way towards her. Rhy was already there, but Bass did not run up to his two sisters. Instead he sat several yards away, yellow eyes narrowed as he gazed at the two. He would not run up and greet her, he wasn't even sure if he should have come.

Rhythm would be the first to come and she would be enveloped in her sisters hug as she came forward and smothered her. She returned the greeting every bit as enthusiastically, she had missed her sister dearly. “And I you, Rhythm! But i'm sure you'll be happy to know that Shai took everything well, and agreed to a shared custody with our daughter, we'll all see Shaye again soon” she promised, which would be the closest she would admit then that Shaye had totally stolen her heart, her perfect little daughter - she also knew that Rhythm would be delighted to hear that she would see Shaye again.

Rhythm would not be the only one to come, Bass would arrive too, stopping a distance away and staying there, coming no further. It wouldn't even be Shai, it would be Bass in the end that broke her heart, but even as she felt it crumble in her chest she would find anger, as his eyes accused her she would accuse him back. “I'm glad to see you missed me too, Bass, its not like i've just come back from one of the hardest journey i've ever been on and waited every day to see you and Rhythm again.” she accused, but she could guess why he was upset with her. “You had Rhythm, and you know I didn't time this on purpose, I would have loved every minute of being there for you – just like I've been there for you ever other time you have ever needed my help or support, well this time this was something I had to do Bass, I need you to understand that – I would have been broken if I hadn't gone, I wouldn't have been capable of being there for you if I had stayed anyway” she turned away then, unable to say anymore. Bass had not been there for a lot of her pregnancy, he hadn't see how dark she had gotten, how close she was to breaking and how she did not want to keep the children from the start – through she had decided in the end that she could not live without Shaye, after her brothers had been buried, after Shaye had opened her eyes and looked at her for the first time – how could she do anything else?

Motif obviously missed her as much as she'd been missed by Rhythm. Met with the same enthusiasm her litter mate would push just as close, her words echoing the sentiment as she offered some information. Shaye was going to return. Rhythm would beam at her sister, relieved to hear she did have some motherly instinct. She would barely notice the arrival of Bass, not until Motif's attention would focus on him would Rhythm look to see her brother waiting a ways away. Ears would fall to her head as she felt the tension build between her two siblings, the feeling causing her more distress than she was willing to admit. She'd lean closer to her sister, unsure what had brought such hostility on. They were siblings, they were supposed to forgive and forget and love each other no matter what. Bright blue eyes would look from Motif to Bass, wondering if she should even say anything.

Oh how had his sister had changed. Would thinks ever be the way that they used to? His eyes roamed to Rhy, the poor girl caught in the middle of all of this. Bass hardly blinked when Motif sent accusations his way, pale shoulders shrugging. Perhaps she wasn't the only one who had grown up a bit. "Would have been nice for you to say goodbye," he called, rising to his paws and padding a bit closer to the little gathering. He felt a bit bad for ruining the moment between the two sisters, perhaps it would have been better if he had stayed away. "You left without a single word. Vanished. I came to find you at your den to see that both you and your daughter had vanished. I wanted to talk, to chat. My wife gave birth while you were away. Five puppies. Two girls and three boys. You should come and see them sometime," his words were soft, just loud enough that they would be able to hear it. Stopping beside his darker sister, his golden eyes taking in Motif. He did miss her, no matter how much he tried to deny it. "Where's Shaye?" Bass asked, looking around his sister for the little black and white girl. How much fun she would have with his little babies!

Motif frowned at her brother as he spoke again, telling her she had simply despaired, she hadn't seen it that way. She had talked her whole pregnancy about going back to the father to show him what they had made together. ”I never made my plans a secret Bass, its not my fault if you hadn't been there to hear them” he had barely visited her during her pregnancy, and Rhythm had been there every day. She spoke very softly now, not truly wishing to throw accusations back and forth, and her words sounded as hollow as her heard felt. He was more then her brother, he was the Alpha here and he was clearly unhappy, would he no longer welcome her back into the pack made up of her family, of the people that made her world bearable? She didn't care if he didn't want her to take back her position, it had never been about power for her but being there for her brother and helping him bare the responsibilities.

There was an olive branch held out to her, a light ray of hope as Bass offered for her to see the children of himself and his wife. “I would like nothing more in the world, my brother” she said, her voice was still hoarse and it was spoken in a whisper. “Shaye is with her father, and in a moon or two she will be here again, we will both see the wonders of her childhood, her father and I” she explained, still in a soft voice, her eyes never moving from her brothers, looking for any sign of that relationship of responsibility, love, understanding that the two had always shared.
