I promised....

She regretted ever being back here, having ever decided to come back after vowing not to. But she had promised her children a choice in where they would grow up, though she had no intentions of returning without ensuring that the south was a safe place to return to. The borders had long fallen stale, barely holding a whisper of scent to them. A troubled sigh rolled off her tongue. So many memories. Memories of her children running through the grasses, their first days outside. And then nightmares. Crucifix's melt down. Then watching the woman race from his side. Othello. He had been so foolish enough as to tell her her name. Her gaze would drop, crown shaking in disbelief. Her life had turned to shit. She had no pack, so for all she knew Falk was still imprisoned in Arcanum, and she was unable to help him on her own. Shoulders sagged wearily. What she would do to take it all back.
