The muscles along the beast’s jaw pulsated as he clenched it, sweeping a stony gaze across what lay before him. Lush plains – but the reserved sort, in that the golden blades made it all look a bit dead, but he knew that the whole area was very much alive. The grass was thick and seemed to breathe as a breeze rolled through. No doubt, a plethora of creatures hid amongst the brittle sea. Here and there, too far to keep each other company, crooked, dark trees bore the burden of the sun on bent backs. It gave one’s gaze a way to wander up to the sky. It looked a bit dull for the mid-afternoon, but that was understandable. The summer was winding down, with overenthusiastic heatwaves and wild burning colors giving way to cooler, more distant weather and grimy skies. The temperature was pleasant right now, neither too cold nor too warm, and the gray sky was something the gray brute could enjoy.

He exhaled softly through his nose; had it been colder, he might’ve been likened to a bull, expelling smoky breath from flaring nostrils. Blinking and glancing away from the horizon, the wolf proceeded forward, his broad shoulders rippling with muscle. He slithered through the grasses towards a nearby tree, which he would casually drag his right side across for the mere sensation. Beneath a mildly furrowed brow, he continued to scan around. It wasn’t particularly interesting. He was bored, and faintly yearned for something to happen, but it was rather difficult to entertain oneself when they had a general aversion to society.

Why had her friend lead her here? This place didn't seem like anywhere she wanted to be, but the imaginary friend lead her on. Her white tipped paws carried her through the land, everything about her standing out; after all, she could only hide in snow. Her pale fur kept her fairly hidden, but here.....Was a different story. Snow wasn't sure what to think about being here, where anything could see her. Her blue gaze lifted to the trees, head tilted back, trying to see where the trees ended. There, one of them was; a small line in the gray sky, and Snow lowered her head again. The cloudy gray sky reminded her of tufts of fur, fluffy fur, and a small smile appeared on her jaws. At least it wasn't too hot, like it was during the Summer; even if it was the season of her birth, Snow didn't like Summer all that much. She turned her attention as something moved, a thing that had been written off as something nonliving when Snow first looked around.

But now that it was moving, it was clear to see that the other was a wolf, a creature that was much taller than the light gray and white female. Never had she seen another, besides Gelus, who was so tall; it scared her, really. A small whimper came from the female as she backed away, fur bristling with fear alone. Gelus had been taller than this wolf, but he had been her friend. With this wolf, Snow didn't know what he was going to do. All she could do was hope he wasn't aggressive.

The fiend stretched forward a bit more to extend the pleasing sensation of bark against his thick, wild fur, and then halted and leaned his considerable weight against the tree. He sighed disinterestedly, casting his callous stare about the scene like the flicking of a cigarette butt upon the ground. There was nothing there for him. His simple judging stare was an insult to the place. It wandered curtly about a few moments more – not appreciating or fully taking in, but rather hurriedly trying to find something else to look at in the damnable monotony. It came as a surprise when he suddenly did find something else.

A canine figure, not unlike his own in its paleness, stood as a stark exclamation mark on the golden scenery very nearby. Svetovid stared icily, momentarily assessing. It was a smaller, young she-wolf, with gray and white fur and pretty blue eyes. Upon noticing him, she backed away, a soft sound quivering from her maw as her fur bristled. A physical paradox, it only served to make her seem smaller though; she radiated fear. It made Svetovid mad, although that was hardly a feat. His brow furrowed a tad, crinkling his hard-edged face. His lips twisted in a faint scowl and he straightened himself to better stare sourly in her direction.  Why was she afraid? Was he… scary? It was a flawed train of offended thought – for in the same fashion, he would probably have also been offended had she not been scared. ”What’s the matter, love? Have I got something on my face? Or is there a monster behind me?” his gravelly voice questioned, grating chords playing out an explanation of insult.

A grating voice assaulted Snow's ears, and she backed away, her blue eyes widening even more, her fur still bristling with fear; she didn't trust this wolf. At the moment, she wished Gelus was there more than anything; he would have told her that everything was alright, that he wouldn't let the wolf hurt her. Well, the Gelus she knew would have done that. She wasn't sure how he would act now; maybe he wasn't the sweet male he used to be. Shaking her head, she pushed the thoughts of her childhood friend to the back of her mind. Nothing good could come of thinking of the male, only the pain of missing him. And who knew? Maybe he would find her again. Snow tried to speak, but fell silent, trying to think of a response that wouldn't make the male mad, if there was one.

Eventually, though, she came up short, and backed away even more. She didn't like being here. No response would probably make the wolf mad. But what could she say? The wolf already seemed a little irritated.

The fiend stared, his broad head tilted slightly to the right as steely eyes traced her expression, as if he did not already read that she was frightened. The fear was still there though, quaking despite the fact that he had very much tried to scare it away (again another lovely contradiction Svetovid posed upon himself and his surroundings). He waited another second, silent although his mere presence and face spoke loudly a number of harsh and fearsome things. It still was there. A vile concoction of fiery anger and putrid offense broiled within his chest. He held it there for a moment, and inhaled deeply, allowing it only to contort his face a tad further. His eyes narrowed more, and his lips pursed tightly. ”What?” he finally expelled the word as if it were the breath he’d been holding. ”Fuck off then. I’m not going to hurt you,” he spat, leaning forward and puffing slightly in a “scram” sort of gesture. The smaller wolf’s survival skills needed a tuning, he thought grumpily. She should’ve run right away, if she really thought he was a threat. With a dismissive (although… almost dejectedly so) snort, he quickly turned his head down and to the right, slinking back to the tree to drop his rear to the ground and lean himself against the trunk.
