It wasn't at all surprising that Kyarst had been quick to delegate duties to both herself and Nagendra. Her half-brother had always jumped at the opportunity to make himself seem impressive, even if just in something like taking leadership of such a simple task as patrolling. Either way, Lysis didn't mind -- for Nagendra had offered to start his patrol alongside her. Perhaps today wouldn't be so dull after all..

There was a slight hop to her step as they navigated away from the knolls and toward the range. It was a strange land, so barren and flat and completely unlike the lands she had grown up in. As they moved, she would glance behind her to her companion, smiling gently at him. "So, Nagendra Bahri," she started with a twinkle in her eye. "Tell me - who are you?" Oh, the answers he could give were endless. How long had he been in Imperium? Where was he from? Had he always been in Alacritia, or did he come from some faraway land?

Starting from the knolls, the man would follow close behind his company, an elegant smile coiled across his lips. He was content to remain quiet and observe for a few moments as they journeyed out of the hills. They were something beautiful – something he appreciated. Soft grass and gentle slopes, perfect for afternoon naps or nighttime stargazing. All of that, he could get very much used to. He would glide his gaze along the scenery a few more times before concluding his thoughts and picking up his pace a little to pull up alongside the right of Lysis. There he’d turn his muzzle to face her in time to smoothly catch the beginnings of a conversation.

The young man’s ears slid forward as his smile curled a little more with amusement. She had offered an interesting question. ”Who am I?” he mused aloud, tilting his chin down a centimeter and studying the girl from beneath an arched brow. ”Hm…” His gaze fell away from her for a moment. ”A snared wayfarer, plucked from the winds of whim by the charming man you know to be your leader,” he would reply after a bit of thought, still looking onward in the direction of the farm. He would then turn his head swiftly to look toward Lysis again, a droll smirk lighting upon his features as he hoped to make eye contact. ”And I’m perhaps a bit of a poet too.”

There wasn’t much more for him to add without prompt; he hadn’t made much of himself here – no fame or notoriety, not that he’d ever intended to find such things. ”How about yourself, Miss Lysis?” his smooth baritone returned the question. He assumed she had been in the pack longer than he had. Perhaps she had been born here, although she looked about the same age as Valentine. Then again, Valentine had never really specified whether he had started the pack or just taken it over.

Though she loved Kyarst fiercely, it was refreshing to spend time in the presence of another. The relationship she shared with her half-brother was a tumultuous one, defined by frequent emotional turmoil and deep, honest love. Though she wouldn't change it for the world, it was exhausting at times. The woman found herself relax in Nagendra's presence as they walked together. He knew nothing about her -- where she came from or who he expected her to be. The freedom was intoxicating.

Her own smile mirrored his, her face lighting up as he spoke. "A wayfarer and a poet?" she'd echo his words with a girlish giggle. "Sounds so exotic." came her comment, only slightly teasing. He'd been recruited by Valentine. He was charming, he said? She honestly didn't know much about him, nor had she bothered to press his invitation to join Imperium further. Lysis had only joined for her family. "You do strike me as the more... free-spirited type," Lysis would comment thoughtfully, her pace slowing slightly as she glanced sideways at him. "You seemed a bit unnerved when Kyarst told you about the war."  She'd caught his wariness and had stored this bit of information away for future use, if necessary. Though she herself wasn't the most proficient of fighters, she had grown up alongside a family of wolves that were blatantly fearless, and she intended to become a more skilled fighter here in Imperium.

But what about herself? He'd mimic her question, which she expected, and she found herself grinning sheepishly. "I am just a girl, Nagendra," came her simply explanation, her tail flicking idly behind her as they walked. "I suppose I am a wanderer myself, though not necessarily by choice. My family - the Armadas - ruled over the north once, but I suppose we have fallen from grace." The faintest bit of sadness touched her voice then, but she quickly moved on from the nostalgia that tugged at her heart. "I am in Imperium because some of my siblings' children live here. Kyarst, and them, are all I have left." Her words weren't meant to elicit sympathy, but a rare moment of honest truth from Lysis.. for her family meant a great deal to her, even if she hadn't met most of them yet.

Kyarst, her half-brother and closest friend, is allowed in any and all of her threads.

His coiled smirk became more deviously wound with puckish amusement as Lysis offered her concluding description. He approved of that very much. He said nothing, allowing smirk to speak for him, and only nodded when she agreed upon his "free spirit." When she mentioned his shying from battle, he was not embarrassed but rather glad to be able to explain. "Ah, yes. I don't much enjoy fighting..." he started. "Violence is... a terrible thing. I don't like hurting others," he'd say, lips pursed with honest thought. "Or getting myself hurt, for that matter," he added with a small, nonchalant shrug.

Lysis spoke about herself, giving Nagendra a bit of a brief background. A ruling family, fallen from grace. "Oh, I'm sorry to hear that," he offered what condolences he could as such an immediate acquaintance. He thought momentarily about his own family, and felt a tad ungrateful. There had been such an abundance of his own relatives, and life had been so comfortable and placid. It was boring. Life had been good and that was why he had left. It akways made him feel guilty when he met someone who had experienced any kind of misfortune. He focused on Lysis again. "Have you been in Imperium long?" he asked, tilting his head slightly.

Her delicate features were a portrait of girlish amusement and joy, her gaze bright and alert as she glanced at him occasionally as he spoke. Boy, was he handsome -- her eyes strayed over his body shamelessly, for perhaps a moment too long, before glancing away. He was quite open in sharing that he didn't care for hurting others nor for getting hurt. It wasn't surprising that some might be uninterested in fighting. The thrill, for her, was too hard to resist.. though she understood how some could shy from such pastimes.  "I'd like to become a fighter in Imperium," she'd state offhandedly. She wasn't the most skilled of fighters; she certainly lacked the practice and brute strength, but she could make up for it in spirit and stubbornness. "Someday, hopefully." It could take awhile - maybe even years - but she knew that Kyarst would train with her until she achieved what she wanted.

A gentle shrug was offered at his verbal sympathy. It wasn't a topic she was entirely happy to talk about, and she was grateful when the conversation shifted again. "Not long at all," she explained. "Not much longer than a season or so. What about you?" Happy for company, her tail would wave behind her as they moved, head snapping forward as she turned to examine the range that lay ahead of them now.

Kyarst, her half-brother and closest friend, is allowed in any and all of her threads.

Sorry it's short and late ;.;

Nagendra’s gaze skated across the horizon, swinging over to land across Lysis. He watched her interestedly, a fine brow arched ever so slightly. She seemed to have quite the opposite opinion of fighting – at least, an attraction to it versus his own repulsion. Although he did not like fighting, Nagendra would not be one to condemn someone for feeling differently. He supposed life would be rather dull if everyone hated fighting; variances were important, and to be appreciated.

When she told him how long she had been a part of Imperium, he let out a soft “hm.” He was glad to meet a senior member - having only otherwise met Rhythm (again) who was just about as new as he was. ”I’ve only been here about a week or two. Seeing as you’ve been here longer, would you know what this battling is for?” he questioned with a suddenly intense curiosity, evident in his intent stare.
