His treasure hunts weren't always about the shiny things. There was a certain amount of beauty that nature in itself held and certain things that were easy to be found. Seashells was one of the natural things that were easy to collect with different shapes and colors. He was fond of them because they could be used in several ways. Decoration, pretty things to wear, or even more practical things such as putting small doses of medicine in. It was unique to find on almost any shore and he felt they may be a good trade item.
His movements were slow along the shore, every now and then he would carefully scrap the sand with his paw, looking for shells. When he found one unique enough he would put it into his bag to take home with him. He also had the chance to find other things, like hermit crabs, natural glass, and even some small and unique looking driftwood. Things he could easily use to craft with and make decorative things that would be interesting to others.
One of his plans were to have a gift along with items to trade when he went to each pack border, that way even if they didn't care for the trading idea he would still have something that could leave a lasting impression on them.
