Rhaegara had yet to venture into the southern lands of the continent, much preferring the vast northern territories as they worked better with the length of her fur which was adapted for colder climates. Carlys hovered above her, gliding through the currents at the pace of her pawsteps, keeping a look out for trouble in case she found herself in a tight spot. Every since she had learned about the slave traders who lurked around the continent, taking wolves captive and selling them, she had been on edge. She wasn’t going to lie, despite her beliefs, the appeal of joining a pack, even if it were only temporary, sounded appealing with each passing day.

She just didn’t trust herself or others quite enough yet to commit time to serve under another. She’d already met quite a few pack wolves, all nice – wolves from Valhalla and Abaven whom both offered her some form of home or sanctuary. She was also not the kind to take advantage of the generosity of another. She did not want to submit herself to a pack if she could not be truly loyal or devoted. It was all a bit of a mess in her head, and so a walk, an exploration, had her attention.

The lands were still strange to her, the passing weeks allowing her time to adjust, but the continent of Boreas still held her in awe. There was a steep gorge, her paws carefully carrying her further down though she found the winds tumultuous. It was too dangerous for her to go alone, and she valued her life so she turned back, finding herself resting along the mountainside. It would be a conquest for another day, she decided.

Lúta spent most of her spring days gathering herbs while the gathering was good. She also had a small herb garden where she had buried a few seeds from the season before. It was an exciting time but she worried that the wind would harm her little seedlings and so she was busy setting up a barrier against the harsh winds of the gorge. It was going… well, it was going at least. She could neither say it was going poorly or well. Her companion Raga, a Japanese macaque, was finishing up the last fence post while Lúta worked a hide around the side most exposed to the wind. This time she'd poked a few holes in the top of the hide to let air move through. She layered sap around the holes in the hopes that they'd hold together better that way.

Finally, satisfied, she sat down to admire their work. Lúta didn't rest for long however. With the little garden secure it was time to get back to gathering.

ooc: opted for Lynvarr since he's in the north right now and Jynn is in the south

Lynvarr decided to put more time into exploring the north and the territories around him. If he was really going to make this place a home, and he wasn't quite sure that he would, he'd need to know more about it. His path lead him northward toward a rocky little gorge that seemed to lead some place interesting. He started down the pathway but he'd barely gone ten feet before the wind started to pick up, soon it was swirling all around him. What a strange place.

He glanced up at the sky, wondering if a storm was moving in. He saw a few clouds here and there, mostly white with gray undersides. Well, he would hope things would be fine for a few more hours but as he couldn't see over the walls of the gorge it was very possible that a storm was moving in from across the horizon. Well, he'd crossed open fields to get here. Maybe there was somewhere up ahead he could take shelter. Or perhaps this is how it always was?

Lyn kept moving when he noticed a yearling crouched against the mountainside. "Hey, are you ok?"

Rhae almost hadn’t noticed the man’s approach, eyes glancing over as his voice pierced the air asking if she was okay. She nodded, explaining her plight. “I was going to try and enter the gorge, but between the terrain and the current weather, I fear it is not possible.” She very much would have enjoyed it, exploration a huge part of her current life. She didn’t notice other scents on his coat, suggesting that he was a loner like her, and it allowed her to relax a little bit. She was still on edge after learning there were slave traders about.

“I’m Rhaegara. What’s your name?” It was hardly the most proper introduction, but it was sweet and to the point, wondering if perhaps her trip to the gorge had been worth it after all in the form of meeting someone new. Carlys settled onto her shoulder, inquisitive eyes also finding the man’s features. “And I am Carlys.” The bird introduced herself as well.

Lynvarr crouched down out of the wind as the woman explained her plan to go exploring. His eyes turned skyward once more as he watched the clouds. The wind was out of the south, or mostly. It was hard to tell the direction of the wind as it seemed to get caught in the gorge and whipped around but based on the bending near the top that was his guess. The woman introduced herself as Rhaegara and her companion as Carlys. "Nice to meet both of you. I'm Lynvarr. I think we could still explore the gorge as long as we don't dawdle. The clouds don't look to stormy yet and the wind might move them away from us though… it's kind of hard to tell. There's so much wind everywhere."
