Defend and protect

Lia had been such a helpful, steady presence in her life since they returned from The Hallows—really since the day Lia came to live with her. She knew Lia would never asked for anything from her and always just seemed happy to help, but Briar wanted to do something nice for her. She hadn't known exactly what she wanted to do for her, but she got her answer in the form of a suggestion from Marigold as well as a bit of help from a newcomer to the pack that seemed to specialize in smithing and armor making. Even if Lia wasn't a dedicated fighter like she was, it would still be a good idea for her to have a bit of extra protection or a weapon of some sort just in case she was ever on her own again. She didn't want a repeat of what happened last time Lia was out gathering herbs on her own and as much as Briar wanted to be at her side to protect her all the time she knew that just wasn't realistic. Once they moved to The Hallows and she took on her new role leading beside Art she'd be busier than ever so it would give her a peace of mind for Lia to have some armor of her own.
Briar took some leather from the pack's stores and started piecing together what she wanted to do with it. She found a cleared out spot near the obelisk to work, hoping that Lia wouldn't come by here and ruin the surprise. She tried to keep in mind Lia's fighting style—or lack there of—and tried to think of something that would be easy for her handmaiden to use and keep with her all the time. Her father's bracers came to mind and she started wrapping the leather around her foreleg for size. There was certainly enough here to make a pair of bracers, especially considering Lia's legs were shorter than her own. She hummed thoughtfully and started using her claw to score a line along the leather, remembering what she had done with Marigold once upon a time to make her own armor.
