Hey mom, dead mom
Mama Recluse !

Kaira was still so new to this world, but her curiosity had already gotten ahold of her. She wanted to go see her mama! All on her own!! She was eager to ask her mama all the questions she possibly could and to hopefully listen to a story or two Recluse had! But more than anything, she wanted to just be near her. She still hadn't quite comprehended the depth of death yet. But she did understand that her Mama Recluse wasn't as here as Momma Sparrow was. Kaira found a spot far enough away from the others that she didn't fear waking up without wanting to, circling a few times rather excitedly before flopping down and curling up. She focused real hard on her breathing! After all, Momma Sparrow had told her the only way to see her mama was to be asleep. Slowing her breathing down, she did her best to let her body relax, even if she was super duper excited to see Recluse. Soon she felt herself drifting off, before feeling almost like her body was detaching itself from her own. Then suddenly it was like she snapped back to reality, but she still felt so light. But she could see herself still, she just felt weird. She couldn't place the feeling, so she decided not to dwell on it. "Mama Recluse?" she called. This was her first time trying while she was alone. Now she felt nervous and like somehow she hadn't done this right. But even so, she kept her overly excited smile on her face and hoped for her mama to show up. "Talk"

Recluse felt like she was awake much more than she slipped back into the dark as of late. That was probably not true but since she was really only aware when someone had called for her it was easy to believe. Whether her daughter knew it or not Kaira's desire to see her was what roused Recluse. Bringing her back to wakefulness, and incorporating her body... Or whatever it was she used to move around and appear before others. Cherry eyes opened to a familiar landscape. She'd learned that the living could change it sometimes, and even strong desires from the dead on occasion... If her first meeting with her husband upon his death was anything to go by. Pale paws glided slightly over the ground, not flattening the grass nor making any noise, it still felt to her like there was a buffer there, a thin membrane that kept her from really making contact with the earth... Or anything for that matter, including the living. Which was the biggest source of consternation at this point in her afterlife. Recluse did not need to hear the sweet tones of her daughter to know who it was that had summoned her, she knew when she first woke, even before full consciousness flooded back into her. She could tell who it was. So she wasn't surprised to find the girl, wasn't surprised she was even alone but she was curious. "Kaira!" Recluse smiled at her daughter, even as she approached to close the distance. "My sweet girl, how are you?" Once she'd believed it possible for the spirits of the dead to see what happened in the world of the living, now she knew that was painfully untrue. She was, well, dead to the mortal world. Relied on her visitors to know what had transpired. The woman reached to try and nose at the top of the small girl's head once in range, trying very hard not to think about how it still didn't feel quite real, how her youngest children would never know what her touch had felt like in life. How old were they now? By her estimation old enough to be leaving the den soon, if not already. Kaira had the look of a pup who would likely outgrow her, after three litters filled to the brim with children that had dwarfed her Recluse had learned the signs, the telltale size of paws primarily. Though it did make it hard to guess exact ages, since she had no frame of reference for time anymore. |

Kaira was giddy!! There was her mama, and she couldn't stop the wide grin that spread along her face as she rushed eagerly over to her. "Hi, Mama! I've been good!! Guess what!!!" She says with a rush of excitement, even though she didn't really give her mother time to guess, "I can leave the den now!! Isn't that cool? I'm super excited to meet new people and see EVERYTHING!!" and by everything, she meant approximately just within the pack lands. She may have been a little overdramatic, but who could you blame? She was just so happy all the time!! She let out a giggle as her mom nosed her head, leaning into the affection before trying to brush herself against her mom's front legs. "I just had to come to see you first! I needed to talk to you! I have so many questions to ask, and so many stories I wanna hear!!" The tone of excitement never left the little girl's voice. Kaira just had so much to learn, and she wanted to learn everything NOW! Especially from her mama. Taking an overly dramatic deep breath, she paused before looking up to her mama. Her gaze was expectant like she just assumed Recluse would have all the answers she wanted, know the questions she hadn't yet spoken, and would tell her a very interesting maybe even EXCITING story! After all, to Kaira, her moms were the most interesting and inspiring people she knew! No one would EVER top them in her mind. "Talk"

Recluse chuckled as her daughter started to excitedly babble. "That's very exciting." She was trying to share in Kaira's own enthusiasm, though some part of her longed desperately to get to see her children experience the world for the first time in person. But of course that wasn't why the girl was here. Or at least it wasn't the entire reason. Recluse settled herself onto her haunches. Her paws didn't ache here, limbs didn't get tired from standing but it was a more natural position to take. It still felt right to settle herself in if there was a chance the conversation could go on for a while. Recluse aimed a foreleg out to fish the girl closer, pull her into Recluse. The woman could remember what it felt like, to snuggle her children in her belly fur and hold them close. She clung to those memories as the strange thin barrier seemed to always keep her more seperate here. There would never be real physical connection like she used to have. "Well, I can't promise I have the most exciting stories." She gave the girl a wink. The truth was most of the tales of her life weren't really suitable for a girl so young and so innocent. How she and Sparrow had given life to a being so precious she was not sure, neither of them were exactly saints. "But I will do my best, so what questions are rolling around up there huh?" She playfully aimed a quick bap of a forepaw towards her daughter's head. |

She giggled as her mother pulled her in, nestling her head against her mother's chest. The space that lingered between them did not matter to the young girl, all that mattered to her was that she was with her mom! The small differences that were evident here compared to in the living world didn't bother her any, to her this was as real as anything else. Meant the same to her. She listens without interrupting her mother, even as the grin on her tiny little face grows. Then it falters, her eyebrows knitting together as she thinks. Ponders even. Trying to figure out what to bombard her sweet mama with. And for a moment she is silent, and then she looks up to her with a smile that just fits so well on Kaira's face. "What are your favorite memories, from before we were born?" She added the last part like they totally had to be her new favorite ones, but that was because her mom's were HER favorite memories already so it could only be fair right? She sat back on her haunches as she leaned into her mom's front leg, waiting, listening, always so eager to learn more. "Talk"
