The smell of family had Ganymede pacing up and down the shoreline, nose to the ground though not close enough to snort up the sand underfoot accidentally. His ears pressed forward enough as he watched the far shore with bright lilac eyes, he was so close to home and his siblings that his heart almost ached. He had missed them, would they recognize him? Or had he changed so much that they wouldn't accept him...It took shaking his head hard to dispel those thoughts. The daunting swim ahead meant he couldn't dwell on thinking like that.
Instead he settled close to Lailah while Ultyr seemed intent on finding something in the washed-up scraps and leftovers on the beach, though he couldn't be fussed to figure out what it was. If Ultyr wanted to go picking through it then that was his right. Instead, Ganymede focused on checking over Lai, making sure this wouldn't be a stressful swim would be hard. She was due in a few days and over-exertion could cause her to go into labor sooner if they weren't careful. It was when Ultyr came back with something for her to be ferried across with that Ganymede perked up, standing to toss his pelt onto the piece with a hum.
"There, can't have you sliding all over and ending up in the water. You might sink." He joked lightly as he stretched her legs in preparation for the crossing, working his shoulders some too. ""You and I are both swimming. Got some fins?" The teasing had him snorting and checking Ultyr’s thigh with his hip as he walked past to the edge of the water proper. "More then you do, old man. Make sure all that muscle doesn't make you sink." He jabbed back.
The pace was brutal, and exhausting, fighting against the currents that eddied around the island. He almost thought they weren't making any progress in getting closer at times, till he noticed the distant rise of massive structures and buildings growing. And then his feet touched the sand. Ganymede hauled himself out of the water, sides panting and heaving, legs trembling a little from over-exertion. Once he was clear of the rolling tide and sure he wasn't still where it could touch him, he collapsed. Laying on his side like a fallen corpse and panting to catch his breath. His own need to check on the others had him craning his head backward while still not picking it up to look at Ultyr and Lailah.
It was the sight of the little chickadee joining him that had him snorting, a small smile curving his lips, though his eyes did dart to the shadow of the gulls overhead with their raucous noises. "If that's your bird, little bird, I'd keep an eye on it. Seagulls might decide its a lovely dinner and a song." He warned gently, wanting her to take care to keep an eye on it. His own eyes falling shut, head still tilted back, as he rested.

When she got close enough to see them, she was surprised to recognize them. The familiar forms of Gany and Lailah a welcome sight to see, though the one brought flashes of excruciating memory to the forefront of her mind. As she drew closer, her hackles raised slightly in defense, her muscles tensing automatically out of reflex. She shook herself to ease it, hoping that he was not what he seemed to be, then approached with caution. She wanted to rush to her brother, but the sight of the dark brown male brought such painful memories that Atreyu was full of suspicion of him. It wasn't until she was close enough to make out the actual details of their faces that Atreyu stopped dead in her tracks and looked between the three of them.
Her hackles raised fully when she finally recognized why the male brought up those painful memories, he was part of it! The wolf that stood on her beach was none other than the demon prince himself, and a deep set rage boiled in her veins. Lashing her tail, Atreyu approaches the trio with a rumbling growl in her throat. The need to get his throat between her teeth was almost overwhelming, and she stopped several feet away from them, tempering her rage with the joy at seeing her brother and Lailah. Her eyes flitted briefly over to Gany and the swollen form of Lailah, her hard glare softening just slightly before she returned those holographic eyes to the demon prince. "You have three seconds to get right with your gods, demon. Assuming you have any." She would let him have his final prayers, if he had any. It was an odd feeling to be both enraged and overjoyed, she wanted to jump and hoot that her brother and pack mate had survived the genocide. The demon prince's presence brought on something she could not ignore, she wanted his blood on her teeth with a fierce passion. She would let him make his peace with his gods first, it was the only kindness she would be inclined to afford him in this moment.

He wasn't happy being disturbed but he was curious as to what had his sister Atreyu, on edge like she was. It wasn't healthy, it couldn't be. But it was a way of life. So as she left, so did Vayne, the earthen toned masculine moved carefully, his steps deliberate. Light azure pools scanning the area around them. Two strangers, one was his brother another he kind of recongized and then another was completely unknown to him.
He moved up to Atreyu, his tail laying behind his frame as sure he didn't tower over them, but he sure as hell was nothing but muscle under the lovely coat of silvery greys, black and browns and some burnt oranges. His eyes never leaving the other male who was earthen toned. Eyes scan over Gany, hearing the growl flow from his sister meant that she had known who this brute was. But for now he stayed quiet.
The growls weren't unheard, the angered voice from Atreyu wasn't unnoticed either as it echoed out threw the island. Eye's turn to Oath as placing a nuzzle and a playful nip to his ear, then kisses. As she turned towards the entrance to the room they had taken up for them and them only. It was a room close to Azriel and Atreyu, so she wasn't too far away.
Fairytale's coat shimmered as she shook the sleep from the night before. Still not feeling the best, she was always on the move, never staying behind to witness something. As she came up towards the group, rose pink eyes scan each and every wolf there. One was painted like Atreyu and the family. While another was grey with scars upon her facial features. Then the largest of them.
A large dire wolf, mudded of browns all shades with scars that marked his own facial features. Wondering what her friend was so angered about. Fairytale allowed her own voice to chime in. "Vayne? Why's Atreyu acting like this?" Fairytale felt like she needed to know, or was it more of a want to know. That would soon unfold..
His form stopped short in the underbrush as his eyes landed on the form of a large earthen male. He had scars now but it was unmistakable. The same form had clashed with him on the battlefield the day of the tragedy. The forms of Ganymede and the farmgirl had his hackles raised. He had never taken interest in the girl, and Gany had been a wallflower but still under his protection. His eyes narrowed the way that as Atryeu growled at him, the demon decided to cling and place a obviously pregnant female between him and her. HOW DARE HE! He needed to get to his side. The demigod listened as he claimed himself a god, no gods didn't bleed, he had no physical gifts, that demon was a false god. He worked carefully to be on the side Gany didn't occupy, that was unprotected from him.
Azriel let his form be seen finally, his head level with his spine, quills and elongated fangs on full display. He moved witha lashing tail and narrowed eyes. The man would get no chances from the demigod. A feral snarl working from his throat, the only warning for the demon. Death would be too kind for this creature. He'd counted the seconds from the moment the words left Atreyu's mouth, and while she wouldn't have an angle Az would. The beast had the gall to even speak Atreyu's name. He was beyond seeing red now. The earthen demon had no daddy to save him from Azriel this time. His Chihuahua moved from the brush to stand with Bigs her form tremoring but not from the cold.
He burst forth and aimed to slam his shoulder and quills into Ultyr's own shoulder and neck, attempting to turn the beast away from Atreyu and force him away from the form of Lailah. Protection and a chance for his own revenge in mind. His jaws sought to clamp onto the flesh just behind Ultyr's cheek and of his cheek, canines aimed to more than pierce the flesh of his opponent. He sought permanent damage, scars for the demon to see his own mortality and the fact that Azriel would now hold his life in his paws. He had danced this dance before but this time his bulk was in full bloom, testosterone danced in his being and had made the fit teen the other had probably thought his father to of killed into a hulking monstrosity of a demigod. His back legs were firmly planted as he aimed his shoulder for the man and with the same slam aimed to push the man to turn. Azriel doubted any would try to stop him. They would take Lailah and Ganymede off his paws and then force the demon to be chained in their midst if he had any say in it.

"You have three seconds to get right with your gods, demon. Assuming you have any." Exhaustion had made him miss the approach but the voice that rang out, clear as a bell, had him jolting to sit up with bright eyes. Before the words dawned on him. Atreyu, someone who hadn't gotten to see the vague changes that Ultyr had been going through, only saw the same monster he had in the beginning. It was the arrival of the others that had him heaving himself to his feet, eyes flickering to Vayne in a panic before back to Atreyu when a pale unknown woman approached as well. At least he knew they were all here, and then some. "Vayne? Why's Atreyu acting like this?" And this one didn't know their history very well.
"If you might recall, I am the only god I know." A sharp hiss of air between his teeth, head turning to reprimand Ultyr with furrowed brows for saying something that wouldn't garner him any favors with Atreyu. If he was honest he could care less for the new faces he didn't recognize, he felt like they wouldn't hold much weight here in these decisions. Not like his siblings would…not like- Where was Azriel. He hadn't arrived with Atreyu and it made his fur stand on end to not be able to spot the quilled man in the sea of faces, it was dangerous to not be able to find him. "I've never injured either of them." Oh Ultyr…he would support him, try to help him carve a niche here but not built on a complete lie, a half lie might be easier though.
"We fought when he found me, I wasn't in my right mind after seasons of being held as a slave. I wasn't hurt by it, more a spar than anything else, and he doesn't hold me as a slave, he freely offered for me to travel with them." His words are chosen carefully and weighted to try and hold sway with a family he hadn't seen in so long.
And then, he found Azriel in the worst possible way. With Lailah still close to Ultyr as the massive brute lunged from his hiding spot, intent on revenge he was sure. But all Ganymede saw was a possible casualty in the form of little pregnant Lailah who tried to run towards him before she dropped. Trauma and fear were a demanding beast. He wouldn't let her get hurt though, and Atreyu would be lucky if Ganymede didn't rip Azriel’s balls off after this. Teeth bared, a snarl pulling up from his chest, he moved quickly to close the distance and grab Lailah by the scruff. Apologies would be given later for this as he hauled her away from the two fighting monoliths, as quickly as he could. He was bigger than her, sure, but he lacked the bulk that would make her effortless to carry. Setting her down and standing over her cowering form once he deemed them a safe distance away. His head snapped to stare at his sister, at Vayne as well.
"So we’re no different than the monster who took our home now? We don't use words to sort out problems before we rush to outright murder the father of her children in front of a pregnant woman. What would you do if this stress forced her to miscarry this late in term, or have the puppies here on the beach?" Foot, meet mouth. His anger caused his temper and lack of thought when it came to these situations to rear its ugly head, legs stiff and head lowered as the fur along his spine rose to stand on end.

She noted the appearance of Alaric, hearing his wit. In any other situation, he would have earned a smirk, but the rage was far too strong. Ganymede spoke up then, his words not truly a comfort, but she understood his point. She was about to respond to them, but then the long-haired chihuahua that Azriel had befriended came to sit beside Bigs. It was the only warning she needed to let her know that the dark demi-god was on his way, the chihuahua’s arrival coming only seconds before her betrothed burst from the underbrush and attempted to plow right into the earthen demon who thought he was a god. On his charge in, she saw Lailah moving away, but then she fawned and fell to the ground in submission. Atreyu knew that was the reaction of a wolf who had seen only violence in the passed seasons, and a pang of guilt hit her gut. Before she knew it, Ganymede tried to pull Lailah out of the way of the clashing titans, but he seemed to be struggling with her.
Before she knew it, her paws were moving and she was putting herself between the fight and her brother and pack mate. She checked over them both to make certain they weren’t injured. Her giant form half hovered over the pair and half in front of them, shielding them from harm as she turned to watch Azriel teach the demon a lesson. Ganymede spoke again, his words striking her like a bold slap in the face, tempering her rage at the heathen prince. Shit. He was right, but her brother’s words were a bit too late. "You would defend him?" She weighed his words carefully, then turned back to view the violence before her knowing it was too late to stop Azriel now. Looking back to Gany, then down to the scarred, very pregnant form of Lailah in question. She was asking the both of them if they would vouch for this demon, though he may come out of the fight with a scar or two added on his face. It couldn’t be helped now. "You know I can’t stop him, but I will try." she referred to Azriel, watching the scene before her and shaking her head with a sigh. Ganymede was right, if this was allowed to continue, they would be no worse than the very monsters they abhorred.
"Azriel, stop, wait!" She shouted to him, trying to find an opening to stop the males from fighting. Knowing full well that Azriel wouldn’t hear her over the roar of adrenaline and snarls, Atreyu tried again and again to halt the attack on Ultyr, not believing that she would be defending a demon against her betrothed. "I want to hear him out. Stop!" She would keep trying, and if she absolutely had to, she would place herself between the battling giants. Looking over to Gany and Lailah, Atreyu doubled her efforts, though she growled under her breath about it.
