Looking around

The man had done just as he had told the alpha he would do. Through the day he had found a hole in the rocks to hide from the heat in. The hole wasn't big enough to be a den and it was too open to be safe for herbs, but the shade was much more refreshing than the sun had been.
In the day light hours he felt as though the sun was trying to burn him alive, though not as painful as actually burning it was still very uncomfortable. He found himself cursing his black pelt on more than one occasion. Yet he did not complain to anyone.
As soon as the moon was in the sky, Maximous was out and looking for a sufficient den. He decided the rocks would not be the most comfortable place for a patient and he had seen no dens large enough for both him, a patient and his herbs. A hole beneath a large tree would be a great place to hide away in during the day and a large enough tree would provide plenty of space for everything he needed...even if he had to dig the hole himself, that was the best place he could think of.
When he arrived at the lake, the fireflies caught his attention. His legs carried him to the edge of the lake and he found himself seated on a sandy bank. The insects had momentarily distracted him from his hunt for a good den.
