Coveting eyes peered over the shoulder of a deceased elk. For quite some distance he'd scented the carcass and upon finding it the brute's stomach had insisted on a much closer inspection. There was however, one catch: all around the body and well away from it was the scent of the killer. In the end he'd decided to chance it. Hunger was a merciless motivator.

Having walked a wide circle around the elk as a precaution, Angel then chose the angle that offered the most cover, not that there was a whole lot of that. From there he slowly slithered the rest of the way. Now the young brute lay hunched behind the elk, carefully peering over it to make sure the coast was clear. If it was, he'd snatch a leg or something and run as fast as he could in the opposite direction.

The young wolf had spent the better part of the last few weeks doing nothing but running and thieving. He hadn't yet figured out why he was running as opposed to simple strolling since he had no destination in mind, but he had a reason for stealing, more than one actually: he liked it. That was the big one, and also because he wasn't the best of hunters. No one had really gone out of their way to teach him in his old pack and except for a few small game hunts with his parents, most of what he knew about hunting he'd learned on his own. So thieving it was. And really, it wasn't that big of a deal, kills were stolen all the time. So long as he avoided pack kills, he should be fine, right?

When no danger presented itself, Angelus set about carving out a meal.

The scent of blood and the scent of despair lured the hungry beast to the battlefield for a countless time. He constantly found himself here, and for which purpose he cared little for. Perhaps to find his next victim, or perhaps he was looking for something more...the scent of something so familiar and yet intermixed with the scent of something strange, it would seem there would be something interesting in store today. He could feel it within the pits of his bones. and it made him shudder. Stepping silently across the bloodied grounds, the crimson stained beast kept senses alert. But it would seem there was no need, for amber gaze would fall upon what caused the scent that had attracted him so. A kill in its carrion glory, though still seemed to be somewhat fresh. A half smile full of devious intent began to form, and so he would stalk forward behind the youth that fed off the carcass.

"It is not nice to take what does not belong to you." He would creep his words towards the boy. After all, there was no telling if the kill belonged to Sin. Although it wasn't his, the boy before him didn't know that.

Blood. He was up to his eyes in it. What had started as a simple snatch and run had turned into a selfish gorging. Greed sat in his belly as heavily as the meat he'd already consumed. As soon as he'd sunk his teeth into the body, all sense of urgency had left him. He was so hungry! The young brute had dug into the carcass with gusto, each hungry dive taking him so far into the cavity that Angelus had to close his eyes to keep the gore out of them. Cruor liberally coated his chest, forelimbs and face, and if he kept it up, Angel was likely to get some on the back of his head before his hunger was sated.

"It is not nice to take what does not belong to you."

Angelus freed himself from the carcass with a slick squelching sound and turned to stare behind him. He was silent just long enough to study the stranger; his tongue darting out to smooth the fur on his cheeks and cleanse them of their filth. Neither swipe was successful, merely taking the top layer off. This, however, was the least of his concern. "It's not nice to sneak up on others either. I should think that would make us even." He turned around to face the brute square on. Nothing about Angel's posture suggested aggression, in fact what he was striving for at that moment was neutrality, but instinct told him presenting his backside to an unknown wasn't in his best interest.

He watched the male turn to face him, one brow raising in amusement. He shrugged a response, though he was amused by the determination of the young male. "An eye for an eye, I suppose. Tell me, young one. What is your name?" He would question as he looked over the bloody mess. He had guts, that much was certain. But how far would the kid go? How far was he willing to walk to get what he wanted? What was it that he wanted in the first place? Sin decided that this welp would be too predictable, and so chose to take a seat where he stood. Posture was not tense, though it was in between relaxed and ready to knock the kid aside should he decide to charge him. And the thought would bring him to a chuckle, like that kid could win in the first place. "My name is Sin. And you, are in luck."

But the Lord said "go to the Devil"

So I ran to the Devil

An eye for an eye. That sounded like a grisly affair. It did, however, sum up their encounter so far. Hopefully this wolf wasn't one to take such sayings literally.

For a moment, Angelus was silent as he studied the creature before him. He took in the bloody marks and really wasn't sure what to make of them, although him himself was coated in cruor, so that wasn't necessarily something to fixate on. After a couple of seconds of calculation, the brute offered up his name. "My name is Angelus."

So this wolf with his gory markings was called Sin. Angelus was beginning to wonder if his name was appropriate. But was it his given name or did he only fancy himself worthy of the title? That was the real question.

He was in luck, huh? Now what the hell did that mean? One eyebrow lifted in a silent question. He wasn't prone to fear, but Sin's certainty gave him pause and it was a heartbeat or two before he ventured his own question. "Is that so?" He wasn't particularly fond of cryptic statements and he liked them even less when they came from a blood-stained stranger. Part of him wondered if he should be concerned although he wasn't quite to that point yet.

I'm insane, I am smart

All it takes, is a spark, to ignite my bad intentions

And do what I do best to your heart
A weak chuckle emanated as he watched the male study him before responding. He must have looked like quite a sight, it wasn't every day a bloodied angel came from the unknown to deliver some sort of message. Today, Sin was in a rather good mood, otherwise this kid would have had it just for standing there. Venemous gaze became hard then, as plans within his mind began to form. He received the name of the other individual and then a question of his own would be brought forth, and the lips of the fallen angel would lift in a contortions of a grin. The bloodied mess before was still green, he could be fashioned into a warrior that would prove fatal to those who came across him in the future. But the question was; was he willing to learn? The beasts tail flicked lazily behind him as he debated a plan of action. Let the boy talk his ears to death, or see just how right he was about the look of inexperience? He figured perhaps that it was better to demonstrate then tell, though he would have a few more words before deciding for himself whether the young Angelus was worth it.

"Angelus...a fitting name. Do you believe yourself what resides in your name? Do you believe yourself an Angel that might one day release the souls of the land, cleansing them of their Sins?" Oh how he loved speaking in a manner all his own. Contorting and twisting, knowing the other would take it as a dark omen or some other dark thing they wanted, he didn't care. He spoke truth, and he wanted this boy. Sin wanted to create those who were uncreated, to teach them the ways of merciless battle and to give them the strength to do what they never thought possible. Sharpened claws would grind the dirt as he gazed intently upon the young warrior to be. If he chose to flee, Sin would be upon him within seconds. If he chose to remain and perhaps take up his offer, he would begin immediately. Perhaps even here and now with a short fight to test the boys abilities and determination. It all fell upon the shoulders of the one who wanted purpose.

Perhaps this Sin fellow wasn't all right in the head. Either that or he possessed the kind of intelligence that Angelus couldn't begin to understand. Maybe he was both. Regardless, the brute wasn't too pleased with how this conversation was going.

He lacked many things but ambition wasn't one of them. These many weeks of wandering had done him good and he'd learned more than a few important lessons, but now he was ready to move on. More than that, he was ready to move up. Ears flicking, Angelus carefully thought over what Sin was asking of him.

He wasn't an idiot, but there were too many angles that Sin could be coming from with those questions and he wasn't entirely sure how to take them. Though there was one thing he was certain of: he was much too willing to sacrifice others for his betterment for him to be an angel. "I'm not an angel. Are you a sin? I haven't the slightest idea what you're getting at. What do you want?" His words were colored with disdain for this cryptic stranger. He didn't like riddles, and he didn't like games, and the boy had the distinct feeling that he was being toyed with or tested for something. It didn't sit well with him.
