YEAR 4 | Autumn | Early Sunset | 26?F - Flurries

Mirajane stuck her tongue out, neck craning, attempting to catch the fluffy white flakes. Her coat was already littered with them, but her tiny pink appendage was having much less luck. She skittered around the little glade, this way and that, occasional 'harrumph'ing out her frustration. A purple orb floated down in lazy spirals until it rested beside her ear, letting out a trilling hum. Was it laughing at her? "Well, it's not easy," she vehemently defended. The purple spirit churred again before drifting away. She grumble and pouted, sitting down with a thwump, watching with drooping ears as the flakes slowly coated the earth around her. She hoped it'd warm up enough to get some icicles, those were fun. The thought of chewing on then cheered her some, and her tail gave a lazy thwap against the ground.

She looked upwards, neck stretching, to the puffy clouds that dominated the sky as far off as she could see in any direction. Would the snow pick up? Mirajane sighed, regretting having left her little nook in the Orchard. It was a nice den, well dug out by some generous soul before her, and it even had some old moss in it. Here, the best she could hope for was a tangle of roots as soil not so frozen that she couldn't dig her way in. That was just no way to live! She stuck her tongue out once more, and decided to deal with that rather depressing topic later.

Bright blue eyes would find themselves looking upon the first snow of the season, such an event would immensely raise the spirits of teh dainty girl. Dark chocolate tail would wag behind her as she made her way over the not so frozen ground. The air was cold, but the earth had yet to freeze over, leaving Rhythm with wet ground while she chased snowflakes in the air. Her already thick pelt would have no trouble keeping her body heat within, not even the flakes that landed on her pelt would melt.
Petite paws would carry her through the nook, seemingly unaffected by the chill. She would wear an easy smile on her features as she walked, occasionally reaching out to grab at a snow flake. Her eyes would mostly be on the territory around her, she was still scouting to learn the lands and maybe pick up a last herb or two before winter finally destroyed the plant material.
Her nose would eventually pick up the scent of another, curiously her ears would swivel forwards as her eyes started searching for the girl. She?d catch sight of her just as she caught her own snowflake on the tip of her salmon tongue. Rhythm wouldn?t hold in the giggle that bubbled up from having such a game in common with the stranger. She?d approach slowly, head down a bit with the amused smile still playing at her features, "How many have you caught?" She?d ask softly as she stood a respectable distance away, head tilting curiously in expectation of an answer.

Mirajane's coat would heat up with the flush that raced through her as another voice broke in upon the otherwise quiet scene. Oh gods. How long had she been watching her? Mira's head whipped around and her own gem-like eyes fell upon a similar pair, only this dark girl bore orbs of amethyst and tourmaline. Mira gave a tentative laugh. "Uhm. Hi... Not many," she answered reluctantly. "...Like two. So how long have you been watching me?" She really needed to start paying attention to the things around her. I mean yeah, it was a little creepy, but these things happened! She'd give the girl the benefit of the doubt anyways. One time the lights had all run away right before her father got really mad, and that wasn't happening now, so she probably wasn't dangerous anyways. You're putting too much faith in them, she chastised herself gently. She knew she couldn't rely on the little lights, she had learned that long ago, but it was hard not to. They were everywhere, they had to know something about right and wrong, danger and safety. Her musing would pitter out as she waited for the woman to respond, and Mirajane noted absently the the snow was beginning to fall in earnest.

She thought the other woman might have heard her giggle only a few steps before, but as she let her voice into the frigid air the woman before her would twist her head around quickly like she?d been startled. She?d take a slight step back, not wanting to seem like she?d meant to be so intrusive. For a moment after though, Rhythm found herself stunned from the features of the wolf she?d found. Her markings were beautiful, though almost similar to her own they seemed much more intricate and dainty. She?d almost miss the first words offered back to her and had to stifle a shake of her head before listening back in.
She?d only found two, but would ask how long she?d been standing there. Obviously she really was distracted when the chocolate girl had stepped up. "Only since the second one," She?d say apologetically, not wanting to seem weird. "Promise, not a creep." She?d nod solemnly, trying to prove her innocence as more snow would begin to fall around them magically.

Mira practically sagged with relief. Thank the spirits, she might have never lived it down. Relief and curiosity filled the void left as the crushing embarrassment fled her chest. Who was his dark girl, where had she come from? Mira saw her eyes light up as she took in her markings, which wasn't unusual. Of course it did make it a little hard to believe when the fae claimed, "Promise, not a creep." Mirajane just shrugged, she got that some folk were a little off. "If you say so! I'm Mirajane Luxion." She scuffed her paw across the building snow, now perhaps an inch deep. It clumped together in a pleasing way and she brought her other forelimb into the work as well. "You like the snow?" she asked absently. She did not mean to be rude, even if her inattention might be seen as such. The dreamy-eyed fae's pile of snow was bigger than both her paws now and she looked up suddenly, eying the brown woman with mischief curling into a small smile. With a flick of her ankle she flung the wad of snow in the girl's direction with a small giggle. She seemed nice enough, right? Besides, Mirajane was in the mood to play!

The girl would accept her explanation with little effort, offering her name in turn. Rhythm would watch as the other wolf would absentmindedly begin to pile her snow. Rhythm?s features would remain tilted as she looked on curiously, her haunches falling to the earth as another question was given to her. "I?m Rhythm Destruction," Her voice was soft as she answered, happy to give her opinion on snow, "I love the snow." Then Mira? features would come up, eyes directed upon Rhythm. There was mischief there, and before she could react there was snow covering her front.
A giggling would ensure as the girl she?d just met started herself a snow fight. The dark Destruction girl would also giggle, jumping to her paws as she hurriedly built up her own pile and aimed at the other girl. Her own playful giggles adding to the noise.

It would turn out that Rhythm had very good aim. Her lump of snow would sail through the air as if it had no purpose in the world except to smack headlong into the side of Mirajane's face. The smaller girl left out a startled gasp, followed by a breathy laugh. "Oh, you" was all she managed to get out to convey her frustrated exhilaration. She retreated backwards a few paces and scrambled to gather another pile of ammunition, all strategy of course... but perhaps she ought to have slowed down a bit. Approaching the crest of a low hillock the dainty girl found her otherwise impeccable balance rather lacking. Suddenly, her feet were headed one way and the rest of her, another. She found only let out a quick, startled "Eep!" before her face met snow and the less forgiving earth beneath. Down she went, tip over tail, again and again until she finally collected in a winded, dizzy pile a few lengths away. She let out a tiny groan and yet another laugh, if a bit more incredulous this time. "Okay, you win," she wheezed, let loose a tiny cough. "Ohh buddy." She scrabbled to her feat, one paw at a time. Her vision still spun a bit, and from the whirring that filled her ears, the orbs were laughing at her again. She almost told them to shut up, but realized she probably still had company.

Rhythm would watch as her aim would prove true, the snow would sail easily to it?s mark. Mira would sputter as she hit a perfect score, releasing a yip the Destruction would celebrate with a beating tail. Though the battle was far from over. Both girls would jump away from each other, looking for purchase and more ammo. Rhythm would build up her own pile as she heard the crash. Head would shoot up as her ears perked forward, searching for more clues as to what happened. Bright dual toned eyes would find her new companion?s form just as it tipped over the hillside.
With a gasp Rhythm would go running, easy leaping over the snow as she rounded the crest of the hill. Pausing she?d find the newly deposited body of Mirajane. Startled, and worried for her safety, Rhythm would carefully lower herself down the hill. Nosing the girl as she arrived the young fae would relent. Conceding defeat in her war. She seemed relatively unharmed as the chocolate girl backed away to give her room to stand. Eventually she would make it to her feet, "Are you going to be alright?" Rhythm was a healer in training, if there was anything wrong she could possibly practice on the dainty she wolf.. maybe. Her confidence wasn?t that high yet.

Concern washed form the earthen woman as she rushed to Mira's side. Her wide eyes, evidently distressed, seemed to scan her thin body for any signs of trauma. Was she perhaps trained in the art of babysitting clumsy dumbasses? The thought was enough to bring a thin smile to the girl's lips and she chuckled. "I'll survive. Probably, anyways." She sidestepped a few paces before her two toned gaze landed on a particularly nice looking clump of grasses, all tangled and brown where the frost had stolen it's summery hues.

She flopped down with all the grace afforded to faes who more than likely had a concussion. The laughter of the spirits had died down and she gave a small sigh of relief. "Your skill in battle is quite impressive. Practice much?" she joked with mock severity, not wanting the seed of an awkward silence to be planted. Honestly though, for being a sweet girl Rhythm sure seemed to know her way around rough housing. If Mira had to guess, brothers would be a pretty logical answer as to how she could plunge into teh fray without hesitation.
