CALLISTO
 Walk | Talk | Think

Like the rest of her kidnapper's family, Callisto had found herself a place inside the confines of the cold, metallic structure to turn into a makeshift den. The large, open spaces did not suit her in the least and while most of it was sectioned off into awkward blocks it was still not confined enough for her. As a private wolf she sought isolation, and as an unwilling mother instinct urged that she find a place suited for pups to live in. Jian's own were well past the earliest stages of development so she knew better than to go seeking advice there, as much as the mere thought caused her lip to draw upward distastefully. In the end, she had settled in something that resembled a broken, empty cabinet on the quieter end of the ship, claiming the awkward alcove as hers and chasing nosy kids out left and right. Lel was hardly any better than his brats.

It was typically when it got dark that she finally got the space to herself. Though it had been the dark that had gotten her into the mess she was presently still wading through - though her season was likely more to blame - she enjoyed the time she was left alone within it, curling up within her tight alcove and pretending that she was anywhere but here. Sometimes she was within her own den back in Ebony, sometimes beside the lake listening to Max go on about a lesson. Tonight she imagined that she was at the peak of a wide, grassy hill with nothing but stars above her and green vegetation spreading off in all directions. She felt a pang on her side, a sense that she interpreted as a longing for the vision, a longing for her freedom to go off in search of places like that or to at least go home.

Again the pang struck, more incessant this time, and restlessly the soon-to-be-mother shifted. Damn brats, making her uncomfortable and stopping her from sleep. They were near impossible to live with now, always squirming, always disrupting her time to herself. She was going to be happy once they were-- Ow. In the darkness, Callisto's silvery blue eyes opened and a sense of panic began to settle in. Oh hell. This was it. She was getting ready to have Lel's spawn.

The pains continued to intensify with each minute and between moments of tense stillness the distressed wolf continued to move about the small enclosed space she had chosen, turning, lying down, getting up, turning again, lying down a different way. Nothing seemed to work, and the pain did not seem to be getting any more tolerable. Her jaws ground together and muffled curses slipped past her lips incoherently as things only grew increasingly worse, and as the pain intensified so did the volume of her voice. The fact it would carry easily within the vessel was entirely out of her mind; she was far too concerned with the fact her body was getting ready to expel the little beasts who were living inside of her.

He'd hear as the pained cries would slowly grow louder, his first thoughts as he woke from his nap were that Zola was in trouble, but as he lifted his head it seemed she too was enjoying the nap. Curious he would find himself getting to his paws, nudging Zola softly, surely she would want to see this too? It had to be the black woman making the distressed noises, he was only surprised his father wasn't rushing to her side. Excitement would course through him, maybe she was getting attacked! He could do to see some blood shed that day. "C'mon," He'd whisper to Zola before jumping away, eager to see what was going on.

When he arrived at her chosen den sight he wasn't sure what he thought, she seemed to be writhing in pain but nothing physically looked to be causing it. His head would tilt curiously as he stared at her, far enough away that she couldn't lunge at him too quickly. Though he doubted she would really even notice he was there with how hurt she looked. What was going to happen?

She could sleep the day away, and normally when she was waken up she stumbled her way around until she got the feeling back into her legs. She was also a heavy sleeper, the sound of Callisto's cries not taking a toll on her dreams. But Lian's voice would perk her right up and she would push her body from the floor of the ship but quickly follow after him.

They weaved their way between the chambers, coming to the back of the structure were the lady was sprawled in a tiny room that maybe the two pups could fit in but it may have been hard for Lel to make his way in to see his new children safe.

But of course, Zola had no clue as to why the woman was panting with pain or that there would be more siblings to share their den with.

She came to the right side of Lian, dropping her head to look under his neck at the woman giving birth. She already didn't like her, but was more frightened by her cries than anything else.

"Lian..." She spoke very quietly, a tiny shiver in her voice. Hopefully their father would be here soon, though she wasn't thinking of him. She just wanted to get out and away from this woman.

CALLISTO
 Walk | Talk | Think

(( Jumping through this stuff to get to the present things faster, woo! ))

She was blind, deaf, senseless to everything about her surroundings except for the pain that ripped through her, the strong, overwhelming desire her body had to send the little demons growing inside of her out into the world. She wanted them gone, desperately, wanted the pain gone even more. Damn Lel for getting her into this situation! For making her carry his pups! For forcing her to endure this pain...

The arrival of her captor's brats went unnoticed as Callisto once again shifted noisily, moving about in search of that position that would ease some of her discomfort, to finally situate herself as it felt like things were progressing quickly. The thought had been in the back of her mind the whole they had been here but she wished now more than ever that she had a proper den to birth the pups into, some place that smelled natural and comforting though the whole thing had nothing pleasant about it. Everything here was too cold, too hard, and while she had never once really held any great interest in the well being of the lives she carried she knew somehow instinctually that it would have been better for them.

Teeth grounding against each other, eyes clenched shut, the grey-marked mother finally stilled and fought to expel the first of the pups, a struggle that felt like ages but really only lasted a few moments. After the sudden exertion she felt exhausted, disoriented, and even more so when she heard its first noise. Through the haze that clouded her mind, that had her presently slumped against the small space that she had chosen for her and hers, her ears perked. Such a tiny and helpless sound, pitiful and weak. She felt disgusted by it, but more so by the fact it stirred her into action. She scooted across the floor, drew it towards her carefully - hardly registering anything about it other than it cried to her - cleaned it and settled it beside her.

Just in time for the second to start causing a stir. Her ears pinned as the pain began again and anew, and the attention she had given to the first pup was abandoned in her efforts to birth the next. She shifted, scooted again, all around the first pup while she readied for the second, and after some more stress the second too was added. She felt ready to collapse from the effort, her breathing labored and her mind fuzzier the second time around. As with the first, she tended to it, automatically and without thought since otherwise she might have resisted more. But she was far too tired, far too exhausted, to fight it. She just wanted them to shut up so she could rest.
