Alpha duties had brought Odette to her highest point in life. She enjoyed the ruling position, the desire to make her pack better, and her name more of a legend. Although there was a chance she could lose her position by a simple slip of the tongue to Cataleya's husband, she was able to keep her priorities in line better. Every other day, she would try to listen for any rumors of endangerment; when she didn't hear it, a sigh of relief would leave her and she would continue to carry out her responsibilities. While for some wolves, the ruler's life was hard and heavy, Odette carried it with an open mind and welcoming heart. She loved her pack, her home...her family. Odette Adravendi was meant to be a ruler.

On this particular day, Odette left the pack to venture to other parts of the North. Her tan paws carried her through thick layers of snow when she came upon The Polar Sound. Recently claimed by Helgrind before the pack disbanded, the faint scents lowly danced above the ground. She stepped over them, knowing that the wolves had left before she had even tried to meet the ruler. The look of a curious puppy took over Odette's face and she proceeded to explore the Sound with all senses alert.

After climbing a few hills and admiring the views, she finally picked one and flopped on top of it. Snow rose and fell around her in small swirls, landing in random spots of her large frame. The duties of being an Alphess were not heavy, but they did wear her out after a long periods of time. Her red and blue eyes hid behind eyelids as they closed, while her body stretched out in all directions. She felt like melting into the snow, becoming a part of the land, and then be there for the rest of her days. If she was lucky, when she grew to her last day, she would be able to join the Northern lands and have her soul dance across the cold winds that blew everyday. Her body began to relax and she felt her tense muscles loosen with every second that went by. Maybe today would just be a simple one, not filled with surprises. Boy, if only she knew that fate had something fun for her in store.

Voltage could be seen as a born leader, he assumed. He may not have a land to call his own, or a pack with rules and ranks, he did have a large family in which he helped lead. It wasn’t a request that was made of him, infact his entire family could have possibly separated when they were abandoned and rejected, each were well over the age of two but Glacier and him, they had taken the job without a second thought. It had been a year since they had been told to leave their home on the island, and in that year they had been travelling and brought together. They had come to this new land for opportunity and a new home, come under the watchful eye of Voltage and Glacier, and he wouldn’t have it any other way. He loved the responsibility he felt to his family, to how much they were at the forefront of his mind, and he thanked every day that no one had suggested separating at the beginning.

And yet Voltage liked himself some free time. He liked to continue moving and he knew that it could exhaust his family quite easily. Even Serefina’s fire couldn’t keep up with Voltage’s energy and stamina at times. He just needed to continue to move, perhaps it was because he felt so strongly and it was only when he moved that he managed to whittle his emotions down to something manageable. This was probably why he had managed to find himself somewhere very far away. When the lands fell away to snow he should have known he had gone a little too far. And yet he kept moving, knowing he could find his way back home eventually. How hard was it to find a volcano? All he had to do was find where the warmth stayed and the snow no longer stuck to the ground and he was sure he could find his way back home. So instead he kept on trekking, moving through the snow and ice, along rock walls and mountains, stormy eyes alite with excitement. This was what he lived for, adventure and the unknown. When the world opened up to a world of ice before his eyes, he couldn’t help but feel his throat catch. "Glacier would so love this…" he whispered to himself, staring at the moss and the ice and the waterfalls. Taking in a deep breath of the clear air he continued to look around before he saw something that just didn’t belong here. Her furs were dark and stuck out like a thumb against the bright whites of the winter scene. "Hey!" He shouted with excitement, trotting in her direction. This was the first wolf he had ever met outside of his family on this new land, and he sure was going to make it a memorable one in some way.

Her mind had settled into a daze, foggy dreams starting to fall over her thoughts. Random colors moved through visible breezes, faded sunbeams shined from a random source of light she couldn't see. Warmth spread through her body and she felt like she was a pup again, for she was close to the ground and could roll in the grass that only came up to her shoulder. Her tail wagged and she proceeded to climb the hill in front of her, the looming top seeming to taunt her from the base. She struggled at first, but finally reached the top of the small mountain and was able to see the view sprawl out in front of her eyes. Ah, but it didn't last long.

The sound of a male's voice met her ears and Odette was snatched from her daydream. The warmth left her body and the image disappeared quicker than a rabbit escaping from its burrow. Needless to say, Odette was startled and instead of maintaining her balance on the large hill's top, she teetered. "YIP!" she yelped, the cry loud and vibrant as she rolled away from the man's sight. Her body disappeared on the other side, causing snow to roll with her before landing all around her massive frame. Red and blue eyes quickly shut as she felt the snow cover her from head to toe. Nothing about her dark colors was evident and she squinted to see if the male would dare to approach her. A mischievous plan began to concoct in her mind and so, she quietly waited.

Voltage stepped towards her so happily, his tail swishing behind him as he ventured closer to the stranger. He loved meeting new wolves, loved attempting to make new friends and create great memories. It broke up his days a little more than normal, and allowed him to expend some of his endless energy. The lightning boy could almost imagine how great of friends he and this stranger would be. Hopefully he could even find out more about this strange land from her than he already knew. It was in his innocence that he didn't think that maybe he should have announced himself with a little more tact. When she yelled out in her shock and slipped over the edge of the largest hill with such an impressive flail, he yelled out his own surprise. "Hey!" He barked over the distance, eyes so wide. "Are you okay?!" Oh no, oh no, what if she had gotten hurt?? All because he had surprised her? He whined softly in his throat before bounding across the distance. "Oh volty, you need to be gentler, you need to learn to slow down!" He chastised himself as he bounded towards her, not seeing her in the snow that coated her deep brown fur. Once he reached the hill he circled around the base, hoping to the heavens that she wasn't hurt. He tried to recall any healing knowledge he may know, but all he seemed to come up with was a blank sheet.

Odette Adravendi

She waited with bated breath for the approach of the stranger, if he even came over. Even though she was hidden beneath the snow, she could feel the vibrations in the ground of his paws, making his presence known in her darkness. Her ears remained flattened against her skull, but she could still hear him voice his concern as he tried to find her. A part of her felt bad for deliberately hiding, but the other part of her figured she was going to be a genius after this plan was successfully pulled off.

When he came around her side of the snowy hill, she waited until his back was to her. Slowly, she pushed herself from the ground and felt the snow cascade around her frame. A big grin appeared on her face and she stretched out her head to its longest length before she yipped, "BOO!" If he jumped, then she knew that she had pulled it off flawlessly. She began to back up and waited for him to respond, hoping that he would want to play along without even knowing what the game was.

It was true that the lightning boy could be quite oblivious despite how quick his mind was. Maybe it was just that he wasn't too observant, or that he really didn't notice much because he was seeing everything. Which gave the stranger girl the best opportunity to ever startle the high energy elementas, which is something that rarely ever happened. He had been looking in the distance, searching for any sign that she may have bolted from this place after he startled her when she materialized out of the soft snow. His shoulders instantly tensed up, the fur lining bunching to protect his back as he yelped and spun to face her. His face was a sight to behold, storm colored eyes so wide as he stared at her, assessing the danger and mouth hung open in shock. The crisp lines of his mature features screamed surprise as he looked at her from top to bottom. How had he missed her there?? How was it possible for him to not see her in the snow, when her fur was so dark, her eyes so bright, her scent so alluring.

He quickly shook form his shock with a literal shake of his head, laughter shaking through his strong but agile form. "Twenty points! You got me!" He laughed fully, goodnaturedly. It was like him in every way to accept everything without holding back, and he knew instantly that they would be fast friends if her prank was anything to go off of. "That was quite good, little lady, I commend you on your silence!" He laughed, tilting his head to reguard her fully now that the shock had dissipated. He assessed her as a stranger, someone that could entertain him and possibly create a lasting bond with, but if only he knew of her position, he may have treated her with more respect and carefulness than he did now. Lifting a paw he reached out to her, pawing at the air with a gentle smile. "I'm deeply sorry for surprising you, however. You aren't hurt, are you?"

His reaction made her laugh and the way it came out was so easy, so relaxed, that one could tell she was a good-hearted person. Red and blue eyes twinkled with obvious mirth as she saw how he looked her over in wonder before saying anything at all. Once he did, his boisterous voice carried over her and to the scenery around them. She could feel its vibrations run towards the trees and move the branches at a very low level of energy, but nevertheless, they moved. Such an impressive part of the stranger's personality!

Her smile widened when he complimented her technique, something that was not used a lot these days. As an Alphess, she had to make herself known to other wolves, making her chances of going unnoticed fly with the wind. To have a break from her duties gave her a chance to spruce up her skills, no matter how small they were...and it was nice. Positive feedback only encouraged Odette to push herself further, to do better in the future, and to prevail any other dreams she had stored in her mind. Her tail thumped the ground at his words and she laughed again before saying, "I take your words with a tiny grain of salt, but I appreciate them nonetheless."

Snow rose and fell everywhere as her large banner continued to hit the loosely set flakes nearby. From where she had appeared from the depths of the mound, snow still clung to random bits of her massive frame, giving her a straight look. Her eyes remained bright like a child's as she took his apology to heart, making her raise a front mitt to paw at the air in a bashful gesture. "No need to apologize, dear sir. I am perfectly fine. It would take a lot more snow and a lot more of you to bring harm to one like me." Gargoyle's pride was evident in her words, but she didn't pursue it since she didn't know the consequences for taking that risk. "I hope that you, instead, are not damaged in any way?"
