Gods above she was dying! Her stomach no longer ached from a lack of food, instead it burned and she was almost certain that it had started eating her liver or something. Her legs ached despite the fact she had not managed to rise to her paws in nearly a day, simply unable to hold up her own weight, meager as it was. Her breath was labored and she struggled to keep her eyes open.

She was ready. She welcomed the dark shapes that swam in the corners of her vision, begged almost. She wanted the dark to take her, wanted it to swallow her up. Still her own death escaped her for hours longer, and she continued to waste away in the shade of a pine tree so very far away from any of her family. What would they care? Novella hadn’t made any effort to rescue them! Because of her sister she hadn’t had a chance to say goodbye to her parents, she hadn’t seen them for a month and when she finally ran from the prison she had been trapped in?

The black pulsed harder now, inching in from her peripherals and she almost smiled, a sigh rising from her lips. She would get to see them again, her parents! That was the last thought on her mind as she blacked out.

Pale paws carried the young woman through the chilly pine forest, her tail swaying from side to side behind her. Her steps were light and bouncing as she hurried her way to nowhere. She had no destination in mind, although her endless search for her birth mother was still in the back of her mind as it had been since the day she stepped into this land. She had met several interesting wolves and for the most part Alacritis had been treating her well, but she still couldn't manage to complete her whole reason for being here.

She wouldn't dwell on that however. Instead she would focus on her surroundings, taking in the new sights around her. Suddenly a new scent caught her attention and she turned toward it, curious to see who might be out here as well. Her mismatched gaze landed on a brown-hued woman huddled under a pine tree and she moved toward her curiously. Stranger danger was not something in her vocabulary so she had no problem walking up to the strange woman. Lore peered down at her with her head tipped to the side. She looked like the was sleeping, but... no, Lore was almost certain she wasn't just sleeping. Lore nosed the woman's shoulder, asking, "Miss? Hey, miss, are you okay?"
