Vrel walked up to the edge of the geyser and sat down, it was the Summer so he knew it wouldn't erupt. He was amazed at the thing's ability to kill something with its devilish eruptions. He looked across the barren land with its lack of plant life, 'If there are other deadly places like this around, I may have just found my fighting grounds.' he thought. He backed away from the edge trying to figure out the best place to observe an eruption, he stopped about fifteen feet away from the geyser. He decided that this was a good observation spot where he wouldn’t get hit by something. He sat down and looked at the mound of dirt that held the power to kill him. ‘wow’ he thought.

[[Sorry for the wait! I was gonna get to this yesterday, but that didn't end up working out.]]
Kia was also exploring the geyser that day, walking slowly around it in a wide circle, giving it plenty of space. Unlike Vrel, she didn’t know whether it would spout or not, so she made sure to keep her distance. As she continued her circular path, she saw in the distance, and coming ever closer, another wolf. His coat was brown. She could not yet see the black patches, as she was still too far away. Slowly, she continued to approach him, until she was close enough that he might also spot her. She gave a Woof! of greeting, so as not to startle him, wondering whether to stop moving now and wait, or to keep going towards him. She decided to sit, thinking that if he wanted to come to her, she would let him. Not all wolves were friendly, after all, and maybe he wanted his space.

The male watched as a female circled the geyser, as she started to come closer to him he whipped his defenses into place. He stood up and spread out his legs distributing an equal amount of weight to each leg. He flattened his ears and narrowed his eyes, he also dug his claws into the dirt. He tucked his tail in then started to growl at the smaller female. When he noticed she had stopped his growl wavered, it was unlike a loner to stop feet away from another loner. Most times loners fought, at least in Vrel's experience. Vrel lowered his growl to a snarl contained to his throat. He then asked a question that always came to mind when he met a new wolf, "Why are you here?"

Kia was glad she’d stopped when she had. This male seemed intent on fighting, or at least on being angry. He was growling and splaying his paws, etcetera, etcetera. She sighed. He was one of those wolves. All bravado. She wondered if his bite was as bad as his bark. She looked at him with the most bored, non-intimated expression she could muster. When he demanded to know why she was here, she gave him an obviously fake smile, one that did not reach her eyes.
“I am here because I can be. You wouldn’t happen to have a problem with that, would you, Mr. Growly Face?” Even as she spoke, she looked him over, fully anticipating a fight of some kind. He was bigger than she was, but that meant she was faster. And she was no novice of fighting. Her interest picking up, she waited for his response.

The female wasn't fazed at his display of dominance and even dared to give him an obviously fake smile. Vrel was taken aback when the she-wolf replied 'Problem of course I have a problem you stupid girl!' he thought. When he heard that the girl had called him Mr. Growly Face he flipped, did this girl think she was a pup who could easily get away with these things. This girl obviously hadn't been raised right, to speak to an aggressive wolf like that was crazy. She was bold he would give her that, but sometimes bold was better left in the paws of wolves who used it properly. He would teach this girl a lesson, If not with his paws at least with his words. "Who do you think you are, to speak to me as if you are a pup. Grown wolves should act their age."

Kia let out a bored sigh, annoyed at this male’s words. She gave him a flat look, refusing to lift her lip or let her guard hairs raise. If they were gonna fight, she wanted him to start it. “Look,” she began, in a tone that suggested she was talking to a very young pup. “I know you’re all territorial and crap because you’re a loner and I’m a loner and stuff. But seriously. Chill. And if you’re gonna fight me, then just get it over with. I don’t need a lecture from a wolf who looks to be around the same age as I am. And my parents taught me that you work to earn your right to things. So. What’s it’s gonna be? Are you gonna let me stay and maybe we can have a civil conversation? Or are we gonna fight? Your choice.”
She kept her eyes level with his, unflinching, and while this was the sign of a challenge, it also told the male that she was not afraid, and that she thought they were equals. It was a sign of respect just as much as a challenge. And he would take it however he would take it, and there was nothing she could do about that.
