Novella had practically shoved them out the door once she was well again, after hearing how long they'd planned this trip.. not that any of them had been disappointed about not leaving earlier. Their duty was to Novella, and making sure she was in good health first. Now that she was, leaving couldn't have been easier. He felt more relaxed now too, knowing that she was back to her old self. Fate and Luck were older now, it really was better that they had delayed their trip. Thankfully they wouldn't have to wait much longer, the winter would be upon them soon which would make travel this far north a bit more difficult.

So far he'd really enjoyed this trip with his older children, though he did wish that the younger children could have joined them. He'd promised that they would someday get their chance, but as he drew more near to where Odette's pack was said to linger the scent of pack was nowhere. The dark man would slow as the falls would appear in his vision, his bright bicolored gaze scanning the area before them. It seemed completely desolate. Had he made a wrong turn somewhere, where they lost?

There was some real concern as he stood on the once border of Glaciem, his uncomfortableness was probably very much visible within his demeanor which Aslan and Varda were surely picking up on. With a quick movement the man would tip back his head and call out for the once alpha, feeling nervous that he would not be seeing her again on their trip. His call would die off and his gaze would return to his children as he shifted to look at the both of them. "We're either lost.. or something has happened to Glaciem." He would whisper, this place was much too quiet for him to be comfortable.

The trip was back on! Of course his mother being better at last was far more important though Aslan would have been lying if he denied any excitement about the trip. He suspected that the joy had been easily read by his mother who hadn't allowed them to wait any longer at all, sending them off on their little mission to at last visit Glaciem.

Prior to this point the further he'd ever ventured from home was the pack's trip to Alabastrine Shrine to escape Summer storms last year. That had certainly been a thrilling adventure at the time to the young pup though now a year older and exploring further lands than he could have imagined and for a far more pleasurable reason it meant very little in comparison. It was a longer journey this time though had been enjoyable up until the moment they finally hit Glaciem's lands.

The temperature, noticeably cooler didn't matter too much it was the quiet that seemed so eerie with the concern that had become clear on his father's features. Scents were growing stale though his father would let out a call for Odette all the same. Aslan cast a glance at his sister for a moment, before his gaze fell upon his father once more, explaining the situation for them. This was a sign that they had grown up, he'd trust them with his own worries though it wasn't a sign that Aslan could say he really enjoyed. More so he wished the trip had continued with ease, that they would have found Glaciem and been welcomed with no troubles. From his father's tone it seemed rather unlikely that the scenario they'd hoped for might actually happen.

At last they had left for their trip. The state of Threar had returned to its normal self, telling her it was finally the right moment to embark. She hoped her mother wouldn't blame herself for delaying their anticipated plan. Perhaps now was the best time to depart seeing as her younger siblings had rapidly grown even more and the fact that they would escape the worst conditions by leaving a season before winter. It had been the longest distance her limbs had ever carried her across. Although she usually kept herself active with her regular sprints along the shore, there was a new terrain beneath her paws. The temperature had noticeably dropped as they neared the northern region which was accompanied with a gradual build of snow scattered across the landscape. The trip would be her second time leaving the familiar lands she was accustomed to. This journey would hopefully leave behind vivid memories in her mind unlike the fuzzy puppy memories from Threar's evacuation to the Shrine. The trip itself was quiet with a few conversations to help take her thoughts off of her exhausted paws that refused to take a break. When her voice wasn't put to use, her mind was busy swallowing the unique images and scenery crafted before her. If only she could travel more often and experience new sights. Would there be more travelling in the future?

Her expectations of Glaciem were dearly held high. Although the pack was located in a different landscape with a completely different family residing in it, she still expected there to be a significantly strong scent marking the territories (unless that wasn't how the northern marked their borders). However, no other smell but their own filled her nose, providing her with only explanation that they still had more ground to cover. Yet her father halted his trekking and let out a howl in an area that held no pack scent. Was this where Glaciem reigned? She cast a crestfallen gaze across the waterfall similar to the one back home, coming to the conclusion that the landscape was abandoned of pack life. The territory was quite pretty in its splendid display of white; how could anyone leave it?

"They could have moved." She weakly mumbled in response to her father's ominous whisper. Earlier in their journey he seemed positive and determined about their route and destination. Why place doubt in her father's navigational skills? Surely there had to be a more logical reason other than they were lost, but the behaviour of packs clearly wasn't her area of expertise.

Walk | Talk | Think

Glaciem was silent. He had thought at first that it was only because their numbers were so small. With two territories for a handful of wolves it seemed possible that they could all have simply been passing each other by without realizing they were near, just catching a scent and nothing more. And being shy and self-conscious, Miksa was not the sort to go out of his way to find anyone. But the quietness had only seemed to settle in more heavily, and as he went about his business he noticed the scents getting stale. He tried to do his part to keep things up, but after a while it felt like he was the sole wolf in the area. He could find no one else.

Much of his time since that revelation had been spent holed up inside of his den along the ridge that housed the waterfall. Knowing that there was no one he could turn to dampened his already damaged spirits and turned him into an even bigger recluse than he had been before, and with nothing to strive for he was slowly deteriorating. Hunting felt like a chore. The den was far too quiet and cold even if the darkness was something like a welcoming friend. At least there was the waterfall to keep him company too, a constant rush of energy and he envied. If only his life was as simple as that.

He was so used to quiet now that when he heard someone howl he almost thought he might have imagined it. Was his mind truly getting that desperate? But as he lifted his head from his paws and turned to look out into the bright, wintry world of the north - still white even in this season - he knew he had to be wrong. But who was looking for Glaciem? He pulled himself sluggishly to his feet and made himself trot out of his den toward the caller, his body still slumped and looking all around disheartened. Some fun it was going to be intercepting this wolf. How disappointed would they be when they realized who they wanted to talk to was gone?

What he expected to find was just a lone wolf standing at the border, possibly looking to see if the pack that had lived here was still available to become a part of, but what he found instead was a wolf and two younger ones. He felt his tan ears droop as he came closer and looked them over, hoping it would not be a family that he might need to turn away. But as he neared, he caught their scent, strong and whole and distinguished as one of a pack. Visitors coming to speak with Odette? Miska slowed and stopped on his side of the invisible, undetectable pack border, and with an uncertain glace that swept over all of them, he asked hesitantly, "You're looking for Odette?"

His two children came to stand beside him as he halted where Glaciem was supposed to have stood. Odette had told him in detail what her home looked like, there was no doubt this was where her packs had been at one point. Though with his observation Varda found herself making a simple comment on the landscape before them. Her theory was entirely plausible, but he still felt uneasy. "It's possible.." he thought maybe exploring the territory further might have been their next option, but as he thought about announcing such a corse of action the site of another wolf would catch his eye.

A pale boy, seeming a bit more timid, would draw near to them on the border in what he could only assume was an answer to his previous call. Frith would only offer a smile as he stopped on the other side of what used to be the border and posed his question. "We are. Do you know the whereabouts of her or know what happened to Glaciem? Odette invited us here for a visit, and well. I'm worried about what we've found." he was so nervous he'd forgotten his manners. "I'm sorry, I am Frith Destruction, these are my children Aslan and Varda." he would motion to each as he looked back to the boy. Hoping very much for some answers.

This tension of waiting seemed rather awkward. Would they find any answers would they find the wolves of Glaciem at all? Only time would tell and it seemed to drag on. Varda considered the possibility that they had moved, but with no clue as to where to find them, was there hope of relocating them before it was time to head back home? They'd promised not to be away for too long, not wanting to leave Novella and the children alone for too long.

Then came the form of a male around the same age as he and Varda. He was coloured for the most part in the same pale coat, hard to spot initially against the snow though he continued to skulk closer, wary perhaps of the three strangers suddenly upon the fading borders of a pack. Maybe he knew something? His question would certainly fill Aslan with hope, he at least knew of Odette, perhaps he would be able to shed some light as to what had happened, why Glaciem wasn't here.

His father would take charge of answering, offering introductions and the reason for this visit. Aslan would stand quietly, waiting patiently for the response hoping that perhaps the stranger could offer them some good news.

The unease and discomfort was almost contagious across the three travellers. While Aslan feared that too much time would be consumed searching for the pack, Varda was now starting believe that this would be quite a short trip, despite the fact that her father had assessed her suggested scenario as "possible". At this point most of her energy had been drained by the sight that all other ideas behind the disappearance of the pack floated off from her mind. Her opinion was torn between giving up and heading home rather discontented or waiting a while longer for...something.

To be honest, she was expecting the abandoned territory to reflect similar and empty civilisation. Her jaws unhinged for her proposal of departure to be spoken after her hopes had fallen even lower over the current situation. However, another young male approached them, asking them a mere hesitant query that seemed as if he knew of the former pack. Once she had noticed his presence, her mouth closed in a quick and precise movement. This "something" that they had been waiting for sure had arrived. Whether he had always been a rogue inhabiting close to Glaciem's region or actually what remained of the pack's members, her father was insistent on finding as many answers as possible. Most of her own questions happened to be asked by her father, which was why she joined her brother's silence and simply awaited any news from the stranger.

Walk | Talk | Think

The older of the three wolves smiled and answered him, his appearance friendly if not colored by worry. Confirmation was given that these visitors were looking for Odette, but not as rogues looking for a home. It seemed she had invited them to visit the pack lands, and Miksa sighed quietly. He was going to disappoint them with his answer, he knew it. He dropped his yellow gaze and stared at the snowy ground as he wondered how he ought to break the news, whether there was even a proper way to acknowledge that his pack was gone and that these wolves had traveled a distance for nothing.

Belatedly names were given for the wolves, and the young white wolf managed to glance once at each of them again before he made himself answer. "I don't know where she is." He said it sadly, disappointed himself, and hated that it was he who was needing to tell these visitors. "I haven't seen her at all for a while now." He shifted on his feet and added, "I don't...know if there's a pack anymore."

Aslan and Varda were both silent as their father asked the strange boy what had happened here, though as he watched the pale wolf the answer he expected was far from positive. As the bright yellow of the boy's gaze dropped Frith's ears would follow, from his demeanor the alpha knew he would get some information. However he already knew there would be no good news. Frith's gaze would continue to linger on the stranger before he was finally given an answer. "I don't know where she is." There it was. Frith's mind would be sent reeling, this was a pack that had been their ally, the sudden disappearance was very much concerning. Though judging by the way he was answered they were not destroyed by force. Odette had vanished.

Frith's gaze would shift to the horizon as he took in the sparse information he'd been given. Judging only by the stale scent and the rather skinny looking boy in front of him it was easy to assume that yes, Glaciem was gone. He'd take in a breath, assessing the situation as best he could, and asking himself what might have happened to the sweet young woman who had visited them in Threar. "I don't know where she may have gone, but young sir, I'd like to invite you back to Threar with us. At least for now, until Odette makes her return?" He'd offer the option to him, he had no idea if the wolf might join them but giving his circumstances Frith could not leave him here with out offering some help.

Glaciem had gone. That certainly wasn't the news that he had been expecting or hoping for at all on this journey. The idea that they had simply moved had been a far more appealing one though it seemed that wasn't the case. Odette had vanished, the pack had seemingly dispersed leaving behind confused members like this fellow here. It was a disappointing truth though it wasn't Miksa's fault and Aslan would have felt bad to know the guilt that the other was feeling now at being the bearer of bad news.

Frith had a potential solution however, a home, at least even a temporary one offered to the young man. It probably wasn't really what the other wanted, in an ideal world Aslan was sure he'd want his original home and pack to simply reappear and all go back to normal. It was a possibility though, their packs had been allies after all and he had come to the North in hopes of seeing new lands and making new friends. Even if there was no pack there to welcome them, to stay with for a while, perhaps there was still the possibility of forming new friendships. Once more Aslan would stay quiet, allowing his father to do the alpha work and awaiting the answer of the white male.

All news of the pack were only negative; matching words to suit the empty territory before them. Why would any leader abandon their home and those who resided within it? To Varda, it was almost confusing yet realistically simple in other ways. For a moment, that churning sensation inside of her increased in its volume and continued to sprawl in her stomach. She surprisingly felt guilty over the matter, how she had never bothered to feel grateful for the easy lifestyle she currently lived. Her parents made an effort to keep the pack running smoothly with scholarly activities and trainings to engage their talents on top of everything else. Even throughout the storm of her puphood, Threar persistently regained all that had been lost or damaged. Never had she thought about this and what would happen if it all was reversed. Hopefully, such a dreaded thing would never befall her dearly loved family.

As well as guilt, pity had also taken hold of her emotions. Now that they knew that Glaciem was of mere memory, were they to bid the lone male good day and leave? If she clearly recalled, the former pack was their ally, and didn't allies help each other during times of need? Honestly speaking, Glaciem was gone, but surely the rule still applied regardless of that. Coincidentally, her father spoke her mind yet again by suggesting the young man to return with them back to Threar. It was rather considerate of her father to allow such a thing, even if the two packs hadn't interacted much together. With her silence unchanged, she awaited a response.

Walk | Talk | Think

He could see the disappointment move across the face of the strange male after he answered him, and it made his stomach roll a little. He hated the fact the pack was gone when it was just something he had to deal with on his own, but having to explain it to others who so obviously had expected to be welcomed once they had reached what should have been the pack's borders made it worse. And some welcome party he was. Thin and bedraggled and so depressed that it felt like a physical thing wrapped around him. Would it have been better if he had just ignored their call and hidden in his den instead?

Maybe not. Miksa's yellow eyes stared at his paws, his tan ears absently listening for the wolf and the two others who traveled with him to excuse themselves and take their leave now that they knew of the fate of their destination. Instead what he heard was a kind invitation, an offer to join with this man and his children in someplace known as Threar. Was that a pack? The way Frith spoke of it, it sounded like it was. Miksa shifted on his feet, staring thoughtfully at the kind male before asking, "That's where you live?" He had never heard of the place before, or of any reason why this wolf from there should have been friendly toward him. But the prospect of being around others again, of having that sense of belonging, if only until Odette returned... It sounded much better than his lonely den further up the side of the waterfall.

Curious now, he added quietly, "Is it far away?"

He wasn't sure that he felt an incredible amount of disappointment as much as he worried about Odette and her whereabouts. He'd already witnessed a few wolves disappear into thin air and there was an obvious bad feeling in his gut. Would he ever see the good natured she wolf ever again? Would she return to her home and reclaim Glaciem? Maybe, but the probability didn't have him incredibly optimistic. He'd glance back to his children before offering his suggestion to the pale boy, it seemed they were quite content with letting him be the voice. For a moment it seemed like the former Glaciem wolf would lose his hope, he looked quite down trodden and Frith didn't have much doubt that if he didn't come back with him he would have every difficulty making it through the winter months. The boy didn't offer any answer nor had he even offered his name yet, but Frith was patient. "Yes, it's where we live. It's not close but it doesn't take more than a day to walk there." He'd tilt his head, ready to take back his turn to talk. "Could I also have your name?"

Aslan was certainly glad his father made such an offer to the pale boy. It was surely a lonely life here, waiting around for a pack that might not return, such things were suggested on Miksa anyway, his downtrodden manner and even general appearance were the clues. He wouldn't accept the offer right off of the bat, a few more questions apparently to be asked and his father made a very good one of asking the other boy's name. That would certainly be useful.

"We were allies with Glaciem." Aslan chimed in with a little extra knowledge for the boy now, something that would hopefully help Threar seem more welcoming for him. "That's why we were here to visit." A chance to strengthen the bonds between the packs had grown into a chance to offer a new home to the remnants of one.

Yes, it was indeed a considerate offer her father had extended to the rogue male. Imagining herself in his paws, she didn't know how she would survive in a life of solitude with her former home only a memory in her mind. Currently, Threar seemed rather small which meant it was fortunately good timing for the male to except the proposal of joining it. It might have been a different scenario if the pack was overpopulated. However, her parents certainly didn't wander around outside the borders asking any random rogues to become members of their pack. Her brother stated the past allied relationship between their pack and Glaciem, which was something she had originally planned on saying. If the rogue was once part of Glaciem, wouldn't he be aware of its standings with other packs? Judging by the question he inquired earlier, it seemed he held no knowledge of Threar. At least her father explained that their home was almost a day's journey away and asked for the most vital piece of information she had forgotten all about: his name. Varda was quite looking forward to the stranger excepting their suggestion, unless there was something else that interfered with his decision.

Walk | Talk | Think

"I'm Miksa." The boy offered his name somewhat more quickly than he had any other information thus far and then fell quiet, thoughtfully considering what Frith had told him in regards to Threar's distance from Glaciem. Knowing the state of what used to be the pack's lands would surely be hard to keep track of over that distance...but it sure beat staying here alone and continuing to try and fend for himself. Company more than anything drew him to the thought of joining this family and the others who resided within their home; the warmth and companionship of his kind was something that he had been lacking considerably of late. Going with them could not possibly be so bad, could it?

One of Frith's children, the tall boy who strongly resembled his father, added more to what his father was saying, and things seemed to make more sense. They knew Odette not just as friends but professionally too. Threar was an ally. A friend. If Odette had deemed them trustworthy, Miksa felt more comfortable doing the same. She had never once given him reason to doubt her judgment, and even though she was gone now he still found himself deferring to her opinions.

He felt a little awkward declaring something for himself, but though it showed and he fidgeted a little he lowered his head slightly and said, "I'd like to go with you." He was still not entirely sure where it was he was going or what it would be like there once he arrived, but these wolves had been nothing but nice to him since they had arrived and Odette had called them allies. Whatever awaited him at their destination, he assumed it would be better than what he was leaving here. Shifting his weight between his forepaws, he hoped they would still take him and waited to follow obediently behind them when they took their leave.

Miksa was actually quick to give his name, the fastest answered question so far, though as he offered a place for the pale boy to stay there was obviously some uncertainty within him. Frith would look on curiously, wondering what he might say, but Aslan was first. Frith's features would turn to his boy and the encouraging words he would offer. The father would send a thankful smile in his boy's direction as his bicolored eyes returned back to Miksa and his small fidgeting. He almost expected him to deny the offer before Aslan had said anything but as he gave it only a few more moments of thought there was an acceptance. "Alright then." He'd smile brightly, "Welcome to Threar, Miksa. You'll share a rank with my children, Prologue. You'll be expected to attend lessons and all hunts that are called. Other than following the laws that's all we expect of you." He would turn to head back, the boy was obviously ready to follow them. Frith would work on telling him of their customs and laws on the way back, they still had a long journey ahead of them.

The stranger seemed a little lost and unsure on what to do in this sort of situation which was of course completely understandable really. He gave his name readily enough though of course pondered longer upon Frith's offer. Though his father hadn't shown any negative displays about Aslan's comment of Threar's allegiance with Glaciem, the boy wasn't sure quite how helpful it really was as the time continued to stretch onwards waiting for Miksa's reply. A part of Aslan was tempted to rattle out some more reasons that Threar was a nice home, reasons that Miska should really think about accepting the offer, if only to try and break the silence that had now fallen over them.

At last though there was an acceptance and Frith would officially welcome the pale boy with a rank in Threar before they began their journey home. Aslan couldn't help but offer a small smile as well, the pack was growing it was sad it was at the loss of an allied pack but Miksa seemed nice and it was surely good that he felt he could find a new home with them.

At least, in the end, the trip hadn't been a total loss. Although it had been a day's journey to arrive, now they knew that one of their allies was of no more which would be a helpful fact in the future. Of course, they would be returning with a new recruit to the pack seeing as it is the best her father can deal with the boy's misplacement and the allied relationship the two packs had once been bonded by. As she had uncovered, losing a home was a rather hefty loss, one that she hoped to never experience throughout her lifetime. Threar was a little empty in the way of members, and she was certain the young male would bring some benefits to the pack as he expanded his knowledge. Already given the rank of Prologue, Miksa, as he had introduced himself, had been warmly welcomed by her father. She made a mental note to attempt to meet him more personally in the future once they had arrived back home. He seemed pleasant, perhaps a little hesitant (although she would be too if she was in the same situation) but she was sure to mirror her father's welcoming mood and ensure the new Prologue settled at home.
