He had the idea to call all the pups together to have another lesson in Italian, but there was a little someone that needed a little more attention. He knew that Starling had been fighting to catch his eye, but he had been so busy with the pack, trying to handle it all alone. But now he had Allen -- bless his heart. Now Bass had a lot more like time on his paws, and Star deserved a little daddy time. The boy had been sticking his his own study and he was proud of him, he little one was dedicated to his herbs. Bass found them... a little, smelly. And strange. He preferred to fight than to heal, but he was pleased with him none-the-less.

Strolling through the rapids, the lesser used Abaven land, the Azat flopped to his side on the cooling ground. It was a damp afternoon, clouds lingering as the temperature cooled. Moisture clung to his pale fur but he didn't much mind it. Huffing, his tail beat against the earth as he let up a loud bark. "Starling, venire imparare qualcosa! Il tuo vecchio ha un paio di parole per insegnare." he called, pale ears flickering as he waited for him to appear. Hopefully he was close enough to hear...

Starling had been doing what Star did best. Seeking out herbs. It was his calling, he knew that now, especially after that terrible sparring practice. He honestly never wanted to have to deal with that again, he would much rather be the healer. Let Shrike be the battle medic, Starling would stay at home and heal the sick and birth the babies. That sounded good. Which meant Starling had to learn more, he wanted to learn it all! He wanted to be able to go anywhere he was needed and know just how to heal any ailment. He wanted to know it all! His siblings could be good fighters or scouts, but Starling...he wanted to be a master.

He wanted to be the one that others came to for lessons.

With a gentle grin he moved along the rapids, seeking out some Horsetail. He knew this one well, since it grew along the rapids, and..it was rather useful. His search was interrupted, however, when his father called for him. With a tilt of his head he turned towards his father's call. His heart leapt and his eyes grew wide as a happy grin spread across his lips. "Padre! Sto arrivando!" He called over the distance, the largest grin on his lips before he paused, blinking as he saw the smallest stalk of horsetail growing between a rock. It was rare to find them in the coldness of autumn, but there it was...and he wouldn't pass it up. Quickly plucking the plank as close to the roots as possible, he leapt towards his father, prize in his grasp.

With the brightest of grins he'd place it at his paws when he reached Bass, a bright grin upon his lips. It was rare to see Starling so openly happy, but knowing he got a chance to spend time with his father, and alone, it made him so happy, so excited. "Quali parole? Altro italiano?" His dialect may be a tad broken, but Starling seemed to excel in the language. He often tried to find his mother or father to find the name of his herbs and would use those instead of their english names. It allowed him to remember better. Italian was not only a means of communication for the child, it allowed him out of his shell. He hardly stuttered when speaking the language, knowing only those important to him could really understand what he was saying. He didn't fear really looking silly infront of his family...well, most days.

He heard the boy call back at him and he grinned, sitting up so that he was resting on his belly, front limbs spread out before him. It didn't take him too long to bound up, a sprig of young horsetail at his paws. He blinked at the herb, he knew that it was autumn and it was so fresh and young. Strange... Blinking away his shock he looked up and offered the young boy a small smile, head nodding. "Sì mio figlio, ma cosa vuoi imparare?" he asked. Generally it was words of certain herbs and things that he had found, but was their something that he wanted to learn? His Italian was very good, and the boy never stuttered while he spoke. Bass was pleased to see the boy so happy, and excited to have time with the boy. Leaning forward he touched his nose to the boys cheek, humming softly. Starling seemed to be the most willing and eager to learn the language, which pleased him to no end. He was proud of the boy, even if he hadn't told him before. Taking pause, he eyed the boy with his bright golden eyes. "You know that I am proud of you, right Starling? You fought well, even if you didn't think so." His words were soft, his tail thumping on the earth with pride for his kids.

The young Destruction grinned brightly up at his father, moving to settle in. He sat upon his haunches infront of him, his tail swishing to cover his paws. He had grown a lot in the past months, at nearly a year old he was almost to his full height, which seemed to be catching well up to his father. But he was rather... light still. Almost too much so. If his legs weren't so long he was sure he'd be a lot shorter, high body held little weight to it. He wasn't skin and bones, though, he still had a good ammount of puppy fat and his fur was rather thick. Nothing to be concerned with. So even sitting he seemed almost taller than his father as he laid down, which was...rather weird. When Bass asked what he'd like to learn he hummed softly and looked around. He already knew a lot of flora names, but he seemed rather lacking on the fauna. "Animali" He said with a smile. But when Bass went on to compliment him, his sky blue eyes grew wide and he quickly looked down. "I-I'm no fighter.." He whispered softly, shaking his head. It was wonderful to hear such a thing from his father, but he knew that his purpose was to heal, not harm. He could only protect his family when they were hurt, he couldn't stop them from getting hurt. "That's Lark's job.." He lifted his gaze then, smiling softly with a gentle tilt of his head. He knew his father was a fighter as well, and the woman of their family seemed more inclined to healing. And here Starling was, rather lacking masculinity compared to his other brothers. And he looked down again. "Y-you're not...upset I l-like flowers, right?" He said softly, wondering just how much power and strength meant to his father. Starling was smart, intelligent...he just constantly tripped over his own paws. An awkward child, one that could be...rather embarrassing...
