Ah, who was she kidding. It was the abundance of coyote kills. Wise enough not to challenge her, the unfortunate coyote would simply back off and let her have whatever it had brought down or found. All she had to do was bristle and look like she would give chase if they questioned her superiority. Maybe it was her size or maybe she was that good of an actress, but none had tested her. In return she ignored them. It was one such kill she was after this evening. She'd eaten her fill of it once already and left the rest to the coyotes. It was an elk, so she strongly doubted they'd killed it, and from what she could tell there was plenty left of it. Her nose told her it was close. Any second now and it would be at her paws. |

turn me on
He had walked for days now, wandering with no purpose. The young brute was bored, and hungry - but then again, when was he not hungry? He had a meal just this morning, but he could never quench that hunger deep within the pit of his belly. Once again he was on the search for food, it was a never ending search, one after another, filling his gut and feeding his body in order to remain in top condition. He would turn 2 soon, in just a couple more seasons. He could feel it, soon he would need something else than just food - but for the time being, breeding was the last thing on his mind.
He could smell a carcass, and he was following that scent. With his size, he could easily take down his own good sized prey, but, anyone who was clever enough would know that eating something that was already killed was by far the better choice. Save your energy, replenish it, and fight another day at full strength rather than wasting it on unnecessary hunting. Heavy paws flattened the earth below him as he quickly closed the gap between him and the elk, only a snarl was needed to scare off the coyotes, leaving the carcass for him to pick at.
He only managed a couple mouthfuls before someone else had arrived on the scene. Ruby eyes turned toward the approaching figure - he'd defend the carcass if necessary, if they wanted some, they would wait.

The stink didn't slow Sabine down. Her scent was all over the elk and while it was entirely possible the brute was nose-blind thanks to his reek, she strongly doubted he was unaware of her claim to it. "Eat your fill," she commanded offhandedly, her joking tone dry, "I can share." Of course, if he had a problem with sharing she would be more than happy to contest his claim. She'd been here first. Moseying up to the kill, Sabine aimed to stand at the farthest she could be from him while still being able to eat. It wasn't manners that dictated her actions, rather, all she wanted to do was eat while subjecting herself to the least amount of BO possible. |
