The boy didn’t trust the older woman, family or not he didn’t like it. She had seemed to appear at a rather… convenient time and despite the way she looked (even he could not deny the similarities) he didn’t like following her so blindly. They were here now though and Daitaro had to wonder what was next. So he waited till Narfi was asleep before gently nudging Phim and gesturing for her to follow.

They would be back before the woman noticed, he’d make sure of that but he wanted to speak with his sister alone, away from the prying ears of their aunt. So he led the way out of the moor, and into the adjoining plains. Spring was just beginning and that meant some of the snow had already begun to melt but there was no sight of the bigger prey he imagined were plentiful here under normal conditions.

He finally stopped, sure they had put some good distance between themselves and the older woman. Daitaro settled onto his haunches and sighed. "So..." He rumbled, deep voice in a soft whisper. Crystalline orbs turned skyward to gaze upon the stars… they were both just as he remembered and yet the same as where they had been before.

"Hear me speak."

Phim had been laying quietly, contemplating many useless things, when her brother had given her a nudge.  She obeyed immediately, sparing a glance toward their aunt as she rose to follow on his heels.  She could feel Dai's discomfort when they were around Narfi and she understood his feelings completely, thought she may not show it outwardly.  They were young when their parents died, but the fact that they had any family related to their mother had never been mentioned.  As far as they were told, Devya was adopted by Seraphim and that was that.  Narfi had never been mentioned, nor had she made an effort to see them as children, so why now?  It was clear that she was related to them, that was undeniable, but what were her motives for getting to know them now?

Dai stopped and Phim sat beside him, turning her verdant gaze on him and staring intently.  He said only one small word, but it spoke volumes to her.  Yet, she was uncertain how she should respond.  She let a long moment of silence pass between them before taking her turn, her eyes still fixed on her brother's upturned face.  "She worries me too, you know.  But where else would we have gone?  When I think about it, maybe we never should've left this place.  It was our home..."  She trailed off, uncertain again.  Her thoughts, naturally, had been turning back to their parents frequently.  Would they have wanted their children to leave the land they were born in?  Would they have wanted them to come back?  There were so many questions they would never have answers too, but Phim desperately wished they could.

Phim knew what he meant, as she so often did. It wasn’t as though she couldn’t read him much like he could tell when things were bothering her. It came with the nature of their relationship. His simple word prompted a slight spiel from his sister. Daitaro listened in silence no indications of his feelings about it either way. He contemplated in silence for a bit even after she was done, gently leaning into Phim’s form as he organized his thoughts.

“I’m not upset that we’re here…” He trailed off. But he couldn’t exactly bring himself to feel comfortable about it yet. They had fled here, concerned for their very lives; it had been made evident that there were violent and dangerous wolves here. Maybe their particular demon was dead beside their parents but who wasn’t to say they wouldn’t just acquire a new one? “Do you think they would have preferred we stay when we were still in danger?” He asked, having no doubt that Phim was also struggling with the same thoughts he was.

Dai leaned into her and she let her head rest against his neck, finding comfort in his closeness. Regardless of whether they should be back in Alacritia, or whether Narfi had ill-intentions, the siblings still had and loved each other. And, as was evident by their conversation so far, they could find solace in knowing they shared an uncanny ability to comprehend each other's thoughts from a simple look or word. Phim closed her eyes as Dai replied, waiting to be sure he was finished before responding.

"Were we, though?" she questioned. She was about to launch into questions about why they would be in danger if the other woman was dead, or if the female had some family that would pursue them, or any other possibility... But instead she closed her mouth momentarily, rethinking herself. "I guess we had no way of knowing, and running was probably best since we no longer had family or a pack to care for us, but..." She sighed, lifting her head from her brother's fur and turning to look at him.

"It was the only home we had. We ran to nothing, except a long-lost aunt I guess... Do you think this can be our home for good though? Even if we don't find a new pack or if Narfi turns out to be something less?"
