the hanging tree
The boy had been determined to say the least. He had left his sibling, Kilgharrah, to lead the pack as he went out to find his own place. He had found that he no longer fit in the place he had been born. Things had been different when his parents past, and things had changed even further after Cypress and Laria had left. It was this that led the boy wandering, astray from all duties and responsibilities he might have held. He reached the borders of a pack, finding it to hold a familiar scent. Surely it couldn’t be? The boy let out a call for his older brother, his eyes steady and uneasy as he found it difficult to believe. Had his journey come to an end?
Paws would lead him away from the room he and Arian designated as her den. If anything the man had become more protective during her pregnancy. The thought of her carrying their little ones made him excited. He would breathe in, taking in the air slowly, surely. Spring was here, though the North remained cold. Cypress would flick his tail some, arriving at the borders to see that unmistakably familiar face. He was in shock, and he would stand there, eyes widened and jaws agape for a moment.
“Aithusa?”

Nervous. That seemed to be the theme of the day as he waited on the borders for some sort of response. He didn’t have to wait long to notice the familiar light grey fur coming into seeing distance, a wide grin splitting his face as he looked at his brother. His search really had come to an end! His tail would wag softly, his eyes expressing the happiness that the wide grin on his face couldn’t begin to touch on. “Cypress!” He said in a chipper tone, amused at the shock his brother showed. “Careful, if you keep your mouth open, it’ll catch bugs.” He teased, his grin lessening to a usual Aithusa smirk. His tail holding a faster pace.
“I missed you and it wasn’t the same without you, Laria, mum and dad. So I went to find you. Is Laria here too?”
Cypress would close his mouth, finding himself smiling as he looked upon his brother. My how he had grown! He would step closer, his tail slowly wagging back and forth as he managed a smile. “I missed you too.” The young man would say, gently nudging his brother’s cheek with his nose. Goodness it had been far too long since he had seen him!
“Laria... I’m not sure. It’s been far too long since I’ve seen her last. The last time I saw her I delivered news of our parents and well...” Cy would shake his head. “But I do have some news to share, Ai. You’re an uncle now. Four nephews and a niece.” Cypress would give a soft chuckle. How would his brother respond to that news?
