Rhythm had caught a mouse. Not on purpose, she'd kind of stepped on it some how. She wasn't sure how it got under her foot but it did and she'd crushed its poor little leg. She wouldn't let the opportunity go to waste though. Hardly more than a meager mouthful she decided she was going to give it to Vail. She was walking around pretty well for the most part, but it hadn't seemed like her eyesight had improved at all. Sometimes when the sun shone into the den it seemed like she had more of a sense of who and what were going on but at all other times she didn't use sight.

Her hearing was pretty good for a pup whose ears hadn't even stood up yet, there wasn't a whisper the tiny girl couldn't pick up on. She was amazing. Every bit as brilliant as her older sister. She'd never seen Motif so passionate about something before, Shaye she loved quite obviously but Vail was so much different. The thoughts would leave her as she grabbed the mouse's tail and trotted back to Motif's den. She was eager to see what her young niece might do with the injured mouse. Wasting no time she'd slip into the den, hoping that Motif was there as well.

Motif spent every free second of every day with her daughter. She selfishly kept the girl curled at her side at night time, forcing Shai and Shaye to curl up around them as Motif played monopoly on Vail's attention. It was clear she was utterly smitten with the girl, and did all she could to teach Vail from the moment her eyes opened that her blindness what a gift, and it was only a different way of seeing the world, never a disability. She began to teach Vail to recognize the meaning of different sounds, to judge where Motif was in the den by the sound of her breathing and her paw-steps. It was hard to tell how effective Motif's teachings where at this stage, only that Motif knew she had to steadily feed information to her developing brain.

She would be cleaning Vail when Rhy walked in with the little mouse, and Motif brightened up as she saw it and its potential. It would be another gentle lesson for her precious child and Motif easily nodded at Rhythm, instantly understanding that the damaged creature was for her daughter. “good idea” she murmured quietly to her supportive sister.

She would smile as Motif looked up to greet her, the reason for the small creature so apparent that Motif would guess before even saying hello. Rhythm's mischievous smile would broaden as she let her belly fall to the earth. Placing the creature on the ground with her paw over it Rhythm would look back to her almost twin. "You think so?" She'd ask as she looked to the rather content little pup. If there was one word that could stir her though it was most certainly 'play' and Rhythm knew that very well. She wished she could wag her tail happily behind her, but with it still splinted that wasn't really possible. That had taken quite a while to get used to. "Vail, do you want to play a game with me?"

"Speech"

With out the use of visual aid Vail was able to put more of her learning into that of sound and touch. The games she played with her mother were both fun and educational. She loved playing 'find the paw' with her mother the most. Motif would slap her paw onto the ground and vail would find it just but the sound. She also played 'hide the meat piece' which was fun because she usually got to climb all over her momma looking for the tasty morsel with her nose. She was getting pretty good at that one. There was little else she could do right now, though she was starting to form sentences and her vocabulary was exemplary. She just couldn't really see anything. Aunt Rhythm (or Awe'he Rhye) thought that maybe once she got out into the sunlight that she'd be able to see faces somewhat decently. She couldn't wait to see her mommy's face.

She was contently sitting in her mother's lap when her aunt Rhythm stepped into the den, Motif's tongue brushing over her as she cleaned out the pure white fur that clung to her tiny form. Vail didn't not enjoy baths.. but they weren't her favorite either. She preferred snuggling, or better yet playing. Sometimes Shaye played games with her too, and that was the best of all. Unconcerned with Rhythm's sudden presence in the room she'd wait for her mother to finish the bath.

Of course that was until Rhythm said the magic word. Motif was out of luck if she wanted to finish the bath. Vail would right herself, little tail waggling more than excitedly behind her as she pointed her features towards rhythm and watched her with her almost sightless stare. "Plah" She'd say enthusiastically while waiting for instructions.

Motif would watch rhythm get close to the ground and put herself in a position to play with Vail. Once the magic word had been spoken, she would immediately lose her daughter. There was some regret shown in the reluctant way motif let up her paws to allow her daughter to escape her, but there was also excitement evident in motifs eyes. She and Vail had played a few games together but never before had her daughter had a chance with a live creature. The way Vail formed the word play was also adorable, and it could easily be said that Vail had motif wrapped about her little finger. There wasn't anything in the world the destruction would deny her daughter.

"Let it go?" Motif asked rhythm softly, also placing herself crouched on the ground on the opposite side of rhythm to vail. The poor mouse would never have a chance to escape, even if rhythm hadn't broken a paw. Vail would get every opportunity to learn and play with the creature well she figured out what to do with it. Motif wasn't going to miss a single moment of her daughters first live prey and kill. Eyes shinning she glanced back up at rhythm, her thanks clearly displayed in yellow orbs

The tiny girl was quick to pick herself up from her mother's embrace, though she knew Motif hated to not be holding Vail the little girl wouldn't let her hold her for very long. Rhythm would grin as she watched her, and as Motis settled she'd ask her sister to release the creature. With out anymore hesitation Rhy would lift her paw, releasing her captive to the infant. "Alright, Vail. Catch the mouse." She'd tell her as she backed up and let the creature struggle towards the mouth of the den. With his shattered rear leg it didn't move quite as fast, but it was still decently paced as it fought to get away from the new little huntress.

"Speech"

Her aunt would give the instruction after releasing whatever it was that was making that delightful scent. It didn't make too much noise, but it's breathing was heavy. Had her ears been more fully erect she might have even heard its heart beat. As it dragged the useless leg behind it though she could follow the sound with ease. She still took rather high steps as the floor within the den was so uneven that she had a little difficulty navigating.

Still, she followed after it in a rather straight line, her little floppy ears tuned in on its movements. She'd get into a play bow when she was pretty sure she was close enough, and after wiggling her butt in a cat like manner she'd pounce at the tiny creature that she'd been stalking. She pretty much got it, While only one paw landed on the mouse she was still able to hold it down and claim it as her own. Not that she had any idea what to do with it next. It was making a terrible noise though.

Both of the girls guardian's would watch with rapt attention from the moment the mouse was released. Motif eyes where bright, perhaps too bright and a little moist as Vail went after the mouse. Her ears flopped gently as she concentration on her prey, wiggling her butt when she was ready to pounce, and perfectly catching the creature. Motif shot Rhythm a triumphant expression of joy, which also had pride and defiance. Clearly, Vail's differences would cause her little problems in the real world, she was already providing she could over come them with ease.

“Take a bite sweetie” she instructed gently, not moving through she wanted to crawl to her daughter desperately, she just wanted Vail to see her independence even more. Would Vail taste her first bite of a live kill?

Vail almost let the creature go as it struggled beneath her paws, its angry noises hurt her ears and she was ready for it to stop. Before she could really decide to do anything Motif would give her the instruction she would need. Flopping on her belly she'd open her paws enough that she could more easily reach down and bite at the squealing mouse. Her little puppy teeth and weak jaws wouldn't be able to take it's life with one bite, not that she had planned on only taking one. The pained cries would cease as she gnawed on its head, realizing then what a tasty morsel her Aunt had brought for her. She wouldn't stand back up until the mouse was gone, she'd happily comp at the bones and all. Though by this time her mouth was covered in the red blood of her prey, and though she was absolutely adorable the scene was a bit macabre. Little bits of fur clung to her whiskers and her paws hadn't escaped the spray either. She'd look back up to her mom like nothing happened though, her expression was bright and her tail was wagging. She didn't know what kind of accomplishment she'd made.

It would take a few bites to end its life, and Motif winced at his high pitched squeals, its last throes of life before it fell silent. Vail had clearly discovered what a tasty morsel it was and she easily set to devouring it. Nothing else would take her attention until every last bite was gone, and even then she would start to gnaw on the bones. Motif beamed, it was good for the little girls teeth, and she felt like the exercise over all had been amazing. She grinned again at Rhythm, somehow her sister always knew what everyone needed. Sometimes she wondered how she had been so luckily that Rhythm had come back to her even after all Motif had done. Honestly, this entire time frame which could easily have been a trial and an ordeal instead had become the most amazing time in Motif's life as she bonded with her daughter, as she watched Rhythm bond with her daughter. The sisters where irreversibly tied together through that bond now.

Once Vail had finished, and would wag her tail, her head moving upwards to where Vail knew she could find her mother and the woman would get a glance at the mess her daughter had created. Motif laughed softly, knowing hat letting Vail clean herself would probably be another good lesson... but Motif had to draw the line somewhere, and some things she just wasn't ready to give up yet. She crawled forward close enough until she could begin to bathe the girl. Starting with her whiskers and her muzzle, moving on to her paws until the girls coat was a soft white once more, the red tones only natural.
