"Speech"

A forced gulp slithered down his throat, sweat beadily forming on his forehead. Throughout the whole morning he had been pacing endless laps of the borders, deciding whether or not to call the Azat. The former leader wasn't around anymore, so there went his chance of developing a friendly relationship with him. Allen - he knew him, or sort of did. The youth had seen him at meetings and trainings, as well as once participating in a pack (or not so much of one) hunt. What's the worse that could happen? Embarrassing himself and discovering that he's way behind with his fighting come to mind, but it was for the best. All he had to do was call for him and ask him a couple questions - that's all. Then why did it feel like such a burden?

Finding a secluded clearing within the expanse of trees, he hesitated and let out a small whimper. Confidence - where had it gone? Summoning up as much courage as he could, he repositioned his ebony paws so they stood firm on the soil. Tilting his head back, he tried to call out the loudest, deepest and most poised howl he could encourage himself to do. He was about to talk with an adult, therefore he had to act like one despite his young age. There he awaited the leader's arrival, shoving the stressful thoughts out of his mind and mentally reciting his planned words. Change was coming; and he was going to improve.

Another call from a member of his pack would arise, and Allen would readily respond. He would excuse himself from his beloved Nona, and he would find himself heading readily heading towards the secluded clearing where Tinaro had called from. He respected the young man, one of the only ones to attend Limno’s hunt. He was a good lad for certain, and Allen wanted to get to know him a little more. Perhaps this would be the chance he’d have to do such a thing.

Allen would arrive to find Tinaro alone in the clearing. It was almost a serene area, a private little get away within Abaven lands. The calico Azat would pad closer to the youth and then sit, tail curling around his paws. “Good to see you again Tinaro. What’s on your mind, my dear boy?” He would offer the youth a reassuring smile. There was nothing to be afraid of with him.

"Speech"

Within moments the older male arrived at the orderly scene whilst the chestnut youth hoped he hadn't pulled him away from anything significantly important. Alpha business, despite it being foreign to him, had to be time-consuming, which made him feel grateful for the Azat's capability of seeking out the boy's matters amongst the other issues he was around.

"Good to see you too, Allen," he greeted with a respectful and reverent dip of his head, tone with faint optimism. It felt a little odd with the dappled man being the current Azat, as the Destruction father had held leadership of the pack even before the yearling's birth. However, the opportunity to discuss what he was to with Allen had never arose with Bass, or at least at that time, the thought hadn't yet formed in his mind. Strangely, he felt more comfortable around the new leader, perhaps because of their brief involvement together. "I've been thinking, and I think it's time I stepped up my game, y'know? I haven't been doing much with my training, and I've kind of lost my motivation for it as well. Heck, I don't even know if I'm progressing." Many words flowed eloquently from his lips, but he didn't want to overwhelm the man with all of his troubles. Eventually, one point would lead to another; they were all kept closely in his thoughts to avoid them slipping from his mind. Although, he had spoken the truth, which was probably all what the leader wanted from him.

Allen would listen quietly as Tinaro would speak. He’d been thinking it was time that he stepped up his game. Ahh, so another youth wanted to pull their weight better for the pack. It was respectable, and surely something good to tell Bass when he returned. The calico gentleman would close his eyes, giving a small, sure nod as the boy finished speaking.

“It is natural to want to do more for your pack.” Allen would begin. “As wlel as it is natural to lose your motivation. You must learn to self motivate, to want to be strong for your pack because it is the right thing to do. Your alpha, or alphas, will notice that in you trying hard.” The aging gentleman would open his eyes.

“Tell me... What is it that you wish to do for Abaven Tirano? Perhaps it’s about time you had some one on one training.”

"Speech"

A feeling of relation grew inside of him as the older male spoke, of whom he intently listened to with respect. The youth wanted to pull his weight, strive for his best and contribute to the pack, however, he frequently fell victim to laziness and procrastination. At the words "losing motivation", a gulp of dread forced its way down his throat. Fortunately, he had summoned enough courage to deal with his dilemma, and here he was discussing it with the alpha. Improvement was on its way.

One on one training? Oh, he liked this Azat - he knew exactly what he wanted. Fight training rolled around too slowly for the yearling's satisfaction, though he ensured that he attended the sessions anyway. Perhaps they weren't enough, hence the leader's suggestion for more personal training. "I want to protect Abaven by fighting," he passionately declared with a brief puff of his chest in response to the inquiry. "I've already been successful in a fight." Ah, who didn't love the thrill of victory?

To protect Abaven by fighting, hmm? Allen would give a nod. It was a worthy cause, definitely. Though there were different skills and such for any Abaven to take, to claim, there was definitely a need for fighters above all. If there was ever an attack, a raid, upon their home they would rely on those willing and ready to fight to protect their home. Allen couldn’t help but smile at the enthusiasm of the young man. He had already even been successful in a fight? How wonderful!

The man would give a nod, speaking. “Is that so, Tirano?” Allen would question. “Perhaps you might be willing to demonstrate to me what all you have learned.” The man would make some distance between them, roughly five feet, before he threw up his defenses. Eyes were narrowed, ears pinned, and shoulders rolled forward to start. His head and tail would both align with his spine, weight distributed evenly across his four legs. Knees were bent at the joints, toes and legs spread for a wider stance. Claws were biting the soil, chin tipped forward to protect his throat. He was ready to see what the young man had learned.

ooc: gonna leave out the table to make it clear to read :)

The Azat seemed delighted with his enthusiasm and progress, making the youth beam a proud grin. However, it wasn't all gloating; he had to show and prove these skills to the leader himself. The thought made him nervously gulp, though he wouldn't let any of those anxious emotions be reflected upon his features. Fight the leader? But he was...the leader! Allen was much older, wiser and more experienced without a doubt, so how would he be able to win? Fool! he silently hissed to himself. Of course you're not going to win - that's the whole point. Make him believe that you have potential. And so, their one-on-one training commenced, fortunately earlier than he had expected.

Remembering what Bass had once told him, defending himself was apparently his weaker area. Although most of the time he was too eager to start the fight that his defences flew out the window, for this fight he was sparring the Azat, which meant everything had to be perfect and above his usual standards. Heck, he was probably being assessed on this, and so he couldn't afford making an embarrassing mistake. Spreading his legs apart, bending them at the joint and tightening his abdominal muscles, his claws dug into the soil whilst his toes splayed out upon the ground. Rolling his shoulders forward, raising his hackles and lowering his head to align with his straightened ebony-dipped tail, he narrowed his green gaze and pinned his ears to his chestnut skull. Oh, he was ready.

It almost frustrated him that they faced each other directly, meaning he had lost the important element of surprise. With little time to devise a different yet complex plan, charcoal paws propelled his lanky body forward as he approached head-on with lengthy strides, attempting to close the distance between them. When he was a foot away from the older male, he would brake with his extended left forefoot, bringing his run to a sudden halt whilst leaning to his (Tinaro's) left. He would do this in the hopes of catching his opponent off-guard and distracting him whilst he attacked, hopefully surprising the older male. In a swift movement, the yearling leaned forward towards his right, jutting out the bony front of his right shoulder and seeking to drive it in the area where the leader's neck was joined to his left shoulder, slightly above the chest, hoping for the attack's outcome to be a bruise. In preparation to his next attack, his jaws tilted slightly to his (Tinaro's) left before parting and lunging out in an attempt to grip the Azat's scruff, though at a moderate force.

Was Allen prepared to fight? Yes. He was prepared whether it was win or lose against the younger male. In fact, if Tinaro did prove to beat him in battle it would just state how ready he was for a rank within Abaven. The calico male would steady himself, preparing for battle against the younger.

First he focused on his defenses -- head would align with the spine, ears flicking back to press against his head. Eyes would narrow, to protect them from bites and cuts. Neck would scrunch up, shoulders rolling into a forward position. Stance would widen, legs bending at the joints and weight evenly distributed for balance. Toes too would be spread, claws biting into the soil to keep him grounded. Tail would raise behind him like a banner, ready to help aid in his balance. Finally, his hackles would raise, giving the gentle man a slightly tougher, edgier appearance.

They faced each other directly, only a few feet apart. As Tinaro approached the man was wary, watching him close the distance. When he suddenly started to pause was when Allen would throw himself forward. He would lower his head, throwing it to his left {Tinaro’s right} with jaws spread open. He hoped to catch the yearling by the leg that he was thrusting forward, to sink his fangs into the right shoulder of his opponent just behind that bony bit he was jutting outward. {Counter. Damage To Allen Pending.}

Front right leg would sweep forward a well, hoping to catch the yearling behind the knee and bring him forward, into his jaws. It was likely that the bony bit of the boy’s shoulder was going to strike his neck somewhere in his counter attack, but perhaps in bringing him forward with a leg sweep he might be able to avoid getting too much damage. {Again, damage from Tinaro’s shoulder still pending.}

He would feel pain though, however, as Tinaro’s jaws pierced his scruff, roughly half an inch deep at the base of the flesh, right above his spine. The moderate hold his opponent got was slightly threatening, but nothing that the Azat would panic over.

Although he tried his very best of what his young mind was capable of to surprise his opponent, it seemed the trick was all on himself. Clearly, he wasn't expecting his opponent to lunge out freely, but then again, he was up against the Azat, so the spar was subject to take unexpected twists. Teeth sunk into his right shoulder, though he shoved the pain aside as he pushed onwards with his own attacks; he wouldn't allow a bite to interfere. Nevertheless, lacerations would form there, a little severe and deep though nothing that threw the boy off-course. No hesitation, he reminded himself silently. No hesitation

As the older male's right foreleg swept forward, seeking to pull behind his knee, the yearling ensured that his body wasn't pulled too far towards unfriendly jaws by splaying his toes and digging into the soil with claws once more. For extra strength, he tightened his abdominal muscles and ensured the rest of his was body tense, keeping his eyes narrowed, ears pinned, chin tucked and lips curled in a scrunched snarl at all times. Hackles remained raised, in case the leader decided to return a similar attack to the scruff, with shoulders rolled forward. His first attack of colliding the bony front of his right shoulder didn't waver from his planned intermediate force, though it seemed the left side of the leader's neck was where he would strike; still better than nothing. However, he still received a bruise of moderate severity on his end to the aforementioned part of his right shoulder. If there was any more success, his teeth pierced the leader's scruff just as attempted, yet a question echoed in his mind. Was he allowed to do such a grip? Was it too far? Of course he could; how else could he show his capabilities?

After releasing his hold, he would rise to his hind legs whilst redistributing his weight in the process. With his forelegs off the ground, he would attempt to shove his opponent slightly to his (Tinaro's) left by forcefully placing each paw on a shoulder (Tinaro's left forepaw on Allen's right shoulder and Tinaro's right forepaw on Allen's left shoulder). He sought to throw his opponent off-balance and potentially weaken his defences with enough time for the youth to take advantage of the prime moment. Whilst shoving his opponent with as much power as could summon, jaws would unhinge once more in an attempt to lightly grip the centre of the Azat's right cheek, hopefully at a time least expected. It would be a light bite to ensure no permanent scarring resulted from it, though in a proper fight where defending himself was all that mattered, he would never find himself afraid to maim.

Both attacks appeared to be successful, though he would not bring Tinaro into his jaws as much as he had hoped. He would keep his grip on the boy’s shoulder behind the bony bit, ears pinned against his skull, eyes narrowed into protective slits. Shoulders remained in their rolled forward position. Hackles and tail remained in their raised position. Legs remained in a widened stance, bending at the knees, as claws bit into the soil.

Tinaro would release his hold and the fight would commence. Allen would let his own hold release, satisfied with the blood he had drawn thus far. There was no need to permanently leave damage in this spar after all.

Tinaro would rise, a paw placed on the front of either shoulder. Allen would stagger back for a moment before pushing his body forward, aiming to slam into the boy and completely knock him off balance now that he had risen on his hind paws. Head would tuck down, to hopefully be used as a sort of battering ram. Chin would tuck inward as well, and Allen would feel the boy’s fangs sink in on the right side of his skull next to his ear. A light snarl was given as he pushed, his own fangs seeking to slice the boy’s middle, directly under and equal distance from his sides.

Notes:

Tips for writing and some suggestions. (no points are deducted here):

MILLIE
You lost a few points on forgotten defenses, so keep an eye on those. Also watch for your attempts! You need to attempt any movement that directly affects your opponent or assumes their position. Even if you state an attempt to shove you must attempt to place your paws as well. Great spar!

KENO!
Great spar as well! Watch your attempts as well, and your defenses. Really, take Millie’s notes to heart as well. You also need to be clear on where your attacking, as well. Clarity and attempting and defenses, watch ‘em and you’ll do great!
