ooc: Set shortly after the raid

Novella suspected that there had been some confusion in regards to the raid or to be more specific her lack of presence during it. Her pack could wait for the news but her children, Aslan in particular who had also had to remain behind with her deserved to know first. Her eldest had gone through this once before, they had responded well to the news before and she hoped that Fate and Luck would share a similar joy at becoming big brother and sister.

So that morning, before they all set about their usual tasks, Novella would settle down near her den with Frith at her side and beckon their children to join them. A little more relaxed at sharing the news this time, there was still a nervous excitement bubbling away inside at the thought of revealing the news of more siblings to her children.

Of course, she had been delighted with the news of her younger siblings when she had first heard the words spoken to her about a year ago. It took some adjusting to, as she had been so accustomed to being around her two litter-brothers, though her other brother and sister were equally as important and loved nonetheless. But another litter? Even more siblings? The thought had never formed in her mind that such a possibility may occur; and she was yet to react to the news.

It wasn't everyday that her parents called all of their children together; it was definitely a rare happening. Recalling past meetings, she knew there had to be something important the Authors wished to share with them. But what information it may be, she couldn't decipher, though she hoped it would be a positive announcement. At the sight of her parents, who had obviously called them together, she chirped a soft greeting, settling on her haunches to await the arrival of her other four siblings. Already, she was overwhelmed by the rate her close family was expanding, oblivious to the next additions that she would soon learn about.

It wasn't often that the family were summoned together in this manner, generally it was for something important when they were. Aslan's thoughts, currently bothered by the recent raid would immediately suspect perhaps it had something to do with that. Frith, Varda and Fate had been present during those fights, maybe there were some details that he, Herne and Luck needed to be filled in on. Maybe there was more information about why Threar had been targetted, did Yfir have some sort of vengeance against the Destruction family as well, he vaguely recalled the attack and takeover of Sawtooth that had led to the imprisonment of many of his family. He quickly realised however that if that was the case surely Félicien and Sorrel would have been here as well.

There was no use bothering himself too much over what the reason possibly could be though, the only way to find out would be to turn up and be told. Feeling out of sorts about that raid still he had been a little more distant but now he would hurry towards his parent's call, determined not to miss out on something else important. Of course they wouldn't have started without him and with only Varda beating him there was really no need for the rush but Aslan had arrived now and with a little greeting to his sister and parents, would settle quietly and await for the explanation as to why they'd been called.

Frith wasn't sore about the result of the raid, he was sore as a result of the raid though. He'd been quiet since the event as he tried to recover before getting back to work. It hurt him more to know that his many many duties were not getting done while he was on bed rest. Of course the children had stepped up and were taking on responsibilities as needed, but none of them could fully take on what really needed to be done. What this might do in Frith's future was yet to be seen, but the weakness in his own body would be reexamined closely. With all of his confidence he was still easily toppled. Something had to change.

These thoughts would linger in his mind as he watched his elder children appear. He'd smile at them softly as they arrived, proud of all of them if they'd arrived at the raid or not. It was his fault that they'd been caught so unawares, and knowing how untrained his sons and daughters were only further put a shadow of doubt over his heart.

Feel free to skip me, only putting this up because I needed a break from real life for a bit... Also, luv you all! If you could PM me links to threads I owe so when I get back I can crank, that would be lovely <3

There was stillness all around him, the mostly ivory and pale wolf hiding out and becoming more of a recluse than ever before as he beat himself up over his more than embarrassing loss during the raid. He hadn’t even gotten an attack in before he was on the ground and out for the count. He was hiding in one of the larger pieces of foliage on the territory, scolding and picking apart everything he did. He wanted to be a fighter, a guardian, but he couldn’t even protect his homeland – what was that supposed to say about him? Was he weak?

It was impossible for him to know the answer for sure, so he sat there, having just returned from running all of the territories for the second time that day. He had been pushing himself to the edge, sleeping when he needed it, eating when he needed it, but only when he needed it. He had been practicing his moves, honing his skills on whatever objects or animals he could. Occasionally instead of using hunting techniques he would attempt one of his attack moves on prey he hunted down for himself.

There was a call that rose as he was grooming his pelt, his eyes widening slightly from the narrowed expression they had been holding as he rose to his paws. His cracked pads carried him swiftly across the familiar lands towards the source of the call – his mother. He noticed that she hadn’t been at the raid, but hadn’t known why. While curiosity had filled him, he hadn’t pushed it further, figuring that she had her reasons. He arrived and took a seat next to Varda, his ears perked as he awaited some sort of noise from any of his family members.

Herne usually kept himself pretty busy by finding new herbs or ones he wasn't as familiar with to practice with and learn about, but since the raid he had shifted his attention back to the more well known useful ones. He had just returned back from a herb hunting mission when the call went out and his ears perked curiously at the sound. He liked to sort out his finds as soon as he brought them home usually, but today he would prioritize his family and siblings above his hobbies. He sat the pile off to the side near his store before turning back out of his den and trotting away.

His siblings were numerous and it wasn't very often that they were all in one place. That's why he was eager to reach the slowly growing gathering after he heard his mother's voice calling them. His variously marked brown and ivory family was easy to spot and he smiled when he saw them all together. There were still a few missing, but his litter was all accounted for now at least. He would settle himself on his haunches between Varda and Aslan to wait for his parents to tell them why they had called them here.
