A mass of fur lay just feet from the water source, what once was once a rich honey had turned into a patchy brown. One would not be able to tell what the creature could have been by the way it was curled up tightly, but all you could tell was that it was biiiig. Face was hidden by a cluster of rocks the animal seemed to be curled up against, upper portion of the body slowly rising and falling. The air held their scent of blood mixed with filth, old darkened blood splattered along the back, scabbing visible along the spine.

The boy was off on his own today, his father taking some time with Annette. He didn’t mind -- the girl deserved to have her own life, her own way. Some time with their parents on her own. He didn’t really mind. Zenkai would decide to take the day to go exploring his own way then, leaving his family’s den to explore the area by the falls.

The falls were beautiful things. The water crashing down was soothing, a sound that calmed his very soul. He would breathe in slowly, looking around with his bright red eyes, until he saw something most curious. Ehh? What was this? Zenkai would look around before approaching the furry, scabby mass.

It appeared to be some sort of living creature, covered in filth. Zenkai would gently reach out with one paw, setting it on the back of the creature as he tried to assess what it was. “Hmm... Are you alive still...?” Zenkai would ask, seeing no head of the creature in sight. Though surely it had one, right?

A touch was all it took, the voice not even registering in the creature's head. Eyelids shot open, pupils dilating and nearly taking over the purple iris. Danger. Head shot up, weight shifting, body rocking from left to right as it tried to stand shakily. It took a moment before the bear was standing on all fours, but then it swirled around and slammed its forepaw against the ground, creating a low vibration. Jaws were thrown open and a mighty roar was summoned, rocking the air like thunder. And then they closed, but that was not the end of it. The beast hunched over then rose, rearing onto its back legs and coming to a staggering seven feet. Another roar, good paw that remained slashing at the air. From the time she had been separated from Kar, and going through her ordeal, Zanire always had to wake up, ready to fight for her very life against her own kind and groups of other predators.

Fear, and rightfully so, would soon rocket through the boy. The creature rose, spinning towards him and letting forth a mighty, bellowing roar. The youth would stagger back, jaw agape, his eyes widened with fear. What was wrong with it? Why was it doing that? Zenkai would catch himself, ears pinned flat against his skull and eyes narrowing slightly. No... He wouldn’t run. He wouldn’t be afraid. He would swallow hard, legs shaking as he tried to keep his voice steady. “Calm down! I’m not here to fight!” Zenkai shouted.

The last thing he wanted to do was get in some sort of confrontation against this creature. He didn’t want to do something that he might regret either... And something, something deep in his gut told him that he shouldn’t fight this particular maimed creature regardless.

(could get some healing points too? :3)

Standing, the beast would focus on the creature before her, violet eyes narrowing. A wolf. She remained standing on her hindlegs, chest rising and falling with her heavy breathing, trying to figure out what this single animal was doing bothering her. A death wish. Lips rose as she dropped down to all three limbs, the ground trembling around her slightly. With a growl she leaned against her pawless stub, right forepaw lifting off the ground and into the air as if she was going to swipe at the boy. She wouldn't though, the boy telling her he wasn't here to fight. Nostrils flared with a heavy breath, lowering her paw back down and shifting her weight off the stub.

Oddly enough, the bear would take the child's word. Eyes running over him briefly before turning away, lumbering forward in a rocking motion, going past him and towards the running water. Stopping at the edge she would lean down and lap up the liquid, ears flicking as small bugs buzzed around. And once she got what she needed, the beast would plop herself down in the grass, paw hanging over a rock and into the water, eyes staring off into the water.

Zenkai would brace himself, watching the creature as it breathed heavily. The ground would tremble as she fell down to it, leaning to her stub before lifting her good foreleg up in the air. He would hold his breath, bracing for an impact that he hardly wanted. But then, then she would ease the weight off her stubby limb and turn away.  It seemed that she had taken his word, that or had decided against mauling him.

Zen would wait until the beast had plopped down before easing closer, his dark gaze thoughtful. "If you need help... maybe I can? My momma is a healer. I know a little bit..." The boy was at a loss. The giant creature seemed to need help and yet was ready to go into attack mode against him almost immediately... and then back off again. Taking a breathe the boy would speak up again.

"My name is Zenkai Sorrell-Savvil. What's your name?"

Eyes closed as the beast took in a deep breath, body shuddering with the action. The sun was nice on her back, giving her warmth and slowly began to dry any freshly oozing cuts she might have opened. Her ears twitched at the sound of footsteps approaching, but since there wasn't anyone else nearby she would figure it was the young wolf coming closer out of curiosity. On their own they were not dangerous, especially younger ones, so Zanire didn't bother moving away or striking out. He wouldn't get too close though, just enough so she could hear him and he could perhaps get a look.

He asked if he could help, if she needed it. That his mother was a healer and he knew a bit, giving his name and asking for hers. Zenkai... Sorrell-Savvil... For some reason it felt as if the woman should know what that meant, those names... they should have triggered something in her memory but with how events went after she last saw Kar, there was a barrier preventing her from recognizing it. When it came to her name however, her face scrunched up in confusion and annoyance. She... she couldn't remember... it had been so long since she had to give her name.

With a low growl she would look away from the boy, neither giving her name or voicing if he could attend her wounds or not. That alone was her answer, yes, treat me. Limbs stretched out as she shifted to be on her stomach, allowing access to any part of her body.

Zenkai would breathe in, waiting for the bear to voice either confirming that he could look at her or denying him the opportunity. The boy waited, and soon the beast would shift onto her stomach, limbs stretched before her. This was what Zenkai took as the opportunity to look at her body. He wasn’t entirely sure he could help with everything, but he would do his very best to do what he could for the woman. At least, on the plus side, the water was right there for him to wash her wounds.

Most of them were scabbing over, but it couldn’t hurt to wash the dirt and grim away from them. He started with her shoulders, not so sure that he wanted to be next to her face. He would move from water source to the beast, dribbling water from his mouth over the wounds to wash them. What he couldn’t clean out with just the water he would use his tongue for, carefully licking over each cut while glancing at the bear. The moment she decided she wasn’t alright with this after all he was going to move.

From her shoulders he would move down to her legs, working with novice skill, but doing the best that he could for the woman. After a bit of time had passed he would pause, glancing at her. “What happened to you?”

She was silent, not uttering a single word or even a letter as the young wolf came in close to begin work on attending her wounds. So she would close her eyes and take a deep breath, claws from her forepaw digging into the grass, but not from pain. It had been some time since she had somebody so close without wanting to harm, a gentle touch long forgotten in the time she had been gone from her beloved. Jaws clenched in annoyance, not from the light dribbling of water over her wounds, but from the disappointment she felt in herself, for allowing this all to happen.

With time the wolf would speak up again, asking what happened, feeling his gaze on her. Zanire would sigh heavily, body shifting by rocking slightly fro left to right before settling back down. A low growl she managed to squeeze out, purple gaze turning downward towards the running water. She knew he couldn't understand her, species having their own languages but also having the basic of a universal one. ”Hurt.” She rumbled this time, diving into her mind to dig up that language she had begin to learn so long ago when she first arrived in these lands. ”Other. Bad.” She added on, french accent thick in her voice.

Zenkai would listen to the female as she uttered the words in a thick accent. Hurt. Others hurt her, bad. The young man would give a soft whine, gently nudging her shoulder where there were no scars. “I’m sorry.” The young man would whisper. “I promise you this though. I’m not going to hurt you, okay?” The young man would look around for the flowers that he wanted to find. They were common, particularly in the more tropical areas, but here in southern alacritia they grew well enough.

Finding the plant within walking distance, luckily, the boy would move away from the bear to get the marigold. He would pick the flowers, moving back to the bear and beginning to apply the petals topically to the cuts. They were chewed, made into a paste, before being applied. “This will help with the healing process.” The young man would explain, chewing some more of the petals to apply it to a different wound.

The nudge on the shoulder did not go unnoticed, the bear closing her eyes and taking a deep breath. It had been so long since she felt the touch of another in a way that wasn't hostile, it was strange, but at the same time it was comforting. A missed feeling. The young wolf promised he wouldn't hurt her, to which a faint chuckle escaped the woman's jaws. It was a little obvious at this point, had he wanted to cause harm then he would have, or slipped something poisonous into the cleaning process of her wounds, but he didn't.

He moved away, and Zanire would open her eyes. With some cleaning done she could feel some discomfort with the injuries, the newer ones having a small sting to them as the cool wind ran over. It was tolerable though, not enough for her face to scrunch up. She was growing thirsty and tired though, despite waking up from sleep not long ago. Reaching down as the wolf moved away, she would grab a quick drink.

Just a few minutes he was back and making a paste out of flowers then applying to her wounds, but now she would watch him work, both from the reflection in the water and from over her shoulder. "Wolf. Thank you." She would say, her tone calm, any signs of irritation gone thanks to laying there and getting some help. She looked away and took another deep breath, stretching out her pawless leg.
