A Is For Agrimony
Kavdaya Of The Nomads |
It was only a couple days since Surreal had at last put everything in motion and claimed the Plains. Her silver cousin had had words with her well before about a young fellow by the name of Miksa. He wished to learn healing, and Kavdaya was delighted to have someone to teach. Even if it was the basics, she still looked forward to showing her knowledge and sharing it with someone willing to learn
She was ready to start his training, and she had laid out several dried specimens out on the floor of the main chamber in the family den, though it could easily serve as a communal den from time to time. A good place for the Master Healer to hold healer's meetings a lessons. Would she someday have a fellow Master Healer at her side? Someone who could help spread the knowledge through Celestial, and keep the pack healthy?
As she chose the plants that would be the subject for the first lesson, she didn't realize how iconic this moment was. She knew that this had once been her relative's den since Erani, her late cousin, had found it years ago during the time of Valhalla. Surreal had passed the history on to her as readily as she had her own children. But even so, she didn't pause to think about how ironic it was that a first lesson was being given by a white healer who shared that blood, however distantly, through a patriarchal line.
She'd made her choices on the decision to start with something that she thought might interest a wolf who was also in training to fight; wound treatment. So she had chosen Yarrow, Agrimony, and Black Alder Bark. The leaves of the last selection were also useful, but in this instance, the bark would be what was taught. They were all plants that had something in common. They all stopped bleeding. Once the items were laid out, she went out to the end of the ravine, enjoying the blast of crisp latest winter air, before she tipped her head back and called politely for the young pupil she'd be teaching today. Her howl made, she waited patiently, while inside she bubbled with delight at her impending lesson.
