The wood was quiet, with not even a sense of a birds chirp. While rather curious about this, the man was avoiding anything to get him hurt any more than he was. With his shoulder and leg, and even then his mental health was the most important right now. His black paw settled on the ground as he took in the scents and let a smile grow on his face. Despite the children growing up in a rough era, Quelt was still determined to give them a life they deserved, because he promised their father.
While they were little brat furballs, it was understandable for losing all of the parents they had along the road. But he was here to stay, he couldn't die so easily when he had them to look after. When he had a pack to make create, and look after even more. That was how life went after all. Quelt had to have a positive outlook or else he would sink. Sinking was not in his job description.

~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

Everything was dead. The whole forest had long since burned down, the embers died long ago and left ashes and sorrow in their wake. A little ember now travelled amid the ashes, exploring this place where she had caught the scent of someone that had invaded her home. One of the wolves from the pack who had taken the serpent plains from her family. Curiosity drew her forth, tea cupped pulling her across the soot strewn terra like a benevolent spirits. The constant shush of the ash under her coal black paws and singular rust red limb was the only sound within the once prosperous forest. Mismatched audits twitched as she sought any form of sound, something to announce the presence of a stranger before she came upon them. Finally, a steel blue behemoth came into her view, looking distant and distracted. He had his back to her, his attention far from focused on the wisp of a girl who was closing in on him. Part of her desired to frighten him, a small bit of vengeance for his stealing of the place where she grew up. She watched him with toxic green eyes, questioning whether she should follow her instinct, the desire to be a hellhound and make the man afraid- or whether she should simply leave him be. She had recently confronted the leader of the pack that had taken her most recent home from her, but it hadn't gone very smoothly. Should she follow the same path with this giant?
Her teeth itched to taste the fur of his tail, to clamp down on the extremity and see if he bellowed or squealed. It was a very rude thing to do, but she'd done worse to those who deserved it. The gangly youth narrowed her acid green orbs at the man, accusation in her every bone. He had taken her home from her, when she was no more than two seasons old. Now, he was probably thinking about taking this place for himself. Unbidden did a growl slip from between her onyx lips, and the lass turned away from the man. She had no desire to be around him, she didn't see a point. Double dipped plume flicked at her hocks in irritation, and she stalked away, a deep frown furrowing her brow and scrunching up her dainty features. Tiara would fall between narrow shoulders, and she shuffled away. "Better be worth it." She muttered, soft vocals barely a whisper to herself as she walked away. She truly meant it, being evicted from the only home she knew better have been worth the slate brute's time and he better have damned well loved it there. She shouldn't have been kicked out for any less.
OOC: For love of all that is fluffy and cute in this world I wish I could have written a better reply but smelling Abaven on him made this post turn into grumpy Ace.

The man was not an idiot, it was easy to tell if there was another wolf nearby let alone a youth. The man's head swiveled, she seemed to be wandering away in a foul move as if he had trudged in here and this was his. The slate man was unaware abaven had claimed lands that previous belonged to a loner family or anything. Though her leaving suddenly sparked alarm with her mood, tail bristling. Quelt never dealt well with pups being angered at him. He had enough with Hajime's children thinking that he was the devils spawn.
Pushing himself forward he frowned and stepped out in front of her. Whether she wanted to talk with him or not, he was here, so he would talk. "Why are you leaving? Isn't this your home?" of course he had noticed the scent before. He looked around, "It's a nice home, you chose well." Quelt smiled before crouching before her. He only wanted to make friends, but if she did snap at him it was understandable. Quelt was a friendly stranger but it got him into all sorts of trouble. "My name is Quelt, I've been exploring the lands since I don't know all of them." he wasn't here to take it, he was exploring just as he said.

Laughing so damn hard, and no one knew why

The strange giant was quick to block her path, stepping in front of her and gazing down at her with strange eyes, ones with two colours in each. She absently was aware of the thought crossing her mind, the one that announced that he was a very pretty male. He was, but boys weren't pretty, they were handsome. I guess boys could be pretty, it doesn't really matter what word you use, does it? Came another thought, which brought her mind to whole other whirling galaxies of comments and arguments made within herself to the point where she almost missed the massive man's voice as he spoke to her. Toxic eyes blinked a few times as she stared up at him. He was asking if this was her home, and he said it was a nice home. Yeah, it was a nice place, despite being all ashy and grey, but it wasn't her home. She shook her head, a frown creasing her brow as she held his dual toned gaze. "This ain't my home, my home isn't anywhere now. I grew up in the Serpent Plains, but your pack stole it right out from under us." She snapped, eyes narrowing at the male. Her fluffy grey hackles were bristling as she continued, because now she was all worked up about it all. "And now, this other pack came and took the Algoma Prairie from us. So I ain't got nowhere to live, and I'm wanderin' about looking for my family." She yipped, her voice getting dramatically higher and higher as she spoke. It had grown to such a squeaky pitch it was a wonder no one's ear drums had exploded inside their heads.
The male crouched down in front of her, introducing himself as Quelt. In her frustration and helpless anger, she thought to herself; Quelt is a funny name. She let out a great harrumph, and if she could have she would have sat back, crossed her arms, and pouted. However, she could not do that, so instead she glared at the ash strewn floor beneath her oddly coloured paws. "Acadia." She grumbled, still not angry enough to be rude. She wasn't supposed to be rude to everyone, because that wasn't how you were supposed to act around strangers, especially big strangers who could eat you. "Everyone calls me Ace." She added in a quiet, still very grump voice not too soon afterwards. She always preferred being called Ace, Acadia was a really happy, frilly, girly name. She felt cooler having a short, easy to use nickname.
OOC: Finally a reply xD sorry for the wait!

Quelt had just been given an insight on the life of a loner. The young girl told her something that stabbed his heart, he wished he could partly ask Bass to move lands, but what was done was done and it would be a stupid request. Packs got first dibs on lands because of their masses, and a loner he saw them having more freedom to move. After being alone on his own for some time, he hated staying in the same place for too long. But now the man was trying to become king and create a future for his children and those he was taking care of. As he watched the girl, he frowned a little giving a sigh to show his saddened state to the fact her homes had been taken. "Well it was before I joined, I had no clue." his black tail wiggled a little. She was interesting in her coat colors wasn't she.
"I'm sorry Ace, I promise when I get my pack, I'll make sure not to steal anyone's home. Where is your family? Did you get separated?" he asked curiously in a worried manner. There he was again, a selfless little freak in the world of nature. "I'm happy I ran into you Ace, maybe you can teach me more about being a father. You see I have five little ones at home, but I'm not their birth father so it's a bit difficult for them to trust me." Look at him, he was asking for help from a pup. But than again, he never pushed aside any advice from all points of view that he could get.

The male was quite calm in taking the news that he'd taken her childhood home, if looking a little sad about it. He let out a sigh, and she did the same, plopping her little black rump onto the ash strewn ground. He assured her he wasn't aware they had taken her home, and she shrugged her narrow shoulders nonchalantly. "Not much anyone can do 'bout it now, just gotta move on I guess.." She muttered, catching the flick of his tail in the corner of her eye. She noticed his ebony leg, the same one as her own red socked limb, and felt like she knew this stranger a little better despite having learned nothing new. Her acidic pools turned up to the cobalt male's face, and she offered a sad smile. He mentioned something about a promise, and she became quite intrigued to hear what he was going to promise her. Not going to steal anyone's home? That was good, because with the way things had it, he'd probably end up stealing her home. He asked after her family, and whether or not they'd been separated. She sighed, giving a small nod of her head. "I was late getting back from the big festival at Ebony, and when I got home there was this pack, called Secretua. I met a big male named Rune, but he wasn't as big as you, and he offered to send a guide with me, but I didn't really want a stranger followin' me around so I said no and now here I am!" She told him, her voice suddenly picking up at the end as she yipped out the final part. Her triple pigmented banner thumped against the ground to illustrate the end of her little story. Sure, the male had seemed worried, but her family were nomads and once upon a time part of a clan of warriors and Vikings. They could handle themselves, and even though she was a tiny slip of a girl, she knew what she was doing out there in the big wide world.

Quelt announced that he was happy to have met her, and the now somewhat cheered up youngster beamed at him. She loved meeting new people, even though she could be a little awkward, or moody. The ebony masked behemoth mused that maybe she could help him with his own family problems. Well, if she could deal with her ridiculous family, surely someone else's would be a cake walk. He explained that he had adopted a bunch of pups, and that they were having some trust issues. Well, probably. "Well, I guess you just gotta let them learn to trust you. It might take a million billion years, but eventually they'll know they can trust you." She explained, her lone rust paw waving back and forth as she spoke. She'd taken to using gestures while she spoke, especially when she was explaining, because visual aids made everything better. "My uncle Thor, and my Uncle Baldur went back home with my uncle Skoll, and they brought back my aunts, Bera, and Arnporr, and Dyani, and my uncle Ullr, and my cousin Eostre. They're all younger than me, except for Dyani and Ullr. They had a lot of trouble trusting uncle Thor and Uncle Baldur for a long time." She continued, her story having no real point behind it, she just liked talking to wolves who would listen, and she was liking Quelt a lot more than she had a few moments ago. "I don't think Dyani will ever trust anyone, except for Ullr. She's always following him around and making sure he's okay..." She murmured, simply a little comment on the relationships amid her immense family. One could never tire of her interesting relatives.

OOC: Man that took me forever! Thanks for the lovely table!!
