B, Just B

It was icky, so icky! B clung to one of the large rocks and looked around, his yellow eyes narrowing slightly. The whole ground was wet and gross, mud was everywhere! It was hard for him to find food when the ground was like that. It pulled at his legs and tried to suck him in! Bad ground, bad icky, gooie ground. The crows head bobbed to and fro, his crest of green striped feathers moving along with it. How was he supposed to find yummy food stuffs, or look for shinies? Well this just sucked! He let out a large caw, his feathers ruffling at the cool breeze that whipped past him. He couldn't find his wolf friend with the scars, otherwise he would stand on his back and make him charge through the icky stuff. He hated mud, hated it so much! Bah. Stretching out his wings he flapped them against his breast, before finally settling down on the cold stone. It looked like he was going to be stuck here, or go and look for berries or fruit or something. They weren't as good as the meat stuffs that he could find on the ground. He looked around hopefully, seeing if there would be any woof beasts that could come by and help him. But so far, he was all alone. So alone! He was used to that... but it was times like these that he really longed for some company.

In a rare moment spent away from her shining knight's side Luck found her paws set to wander. And why not? Bacc was always off somewhere meeting new wolves why not her? Well the simple answer was that Luck didn't like meeting new wolves. The tiny girl admitted that to herself with a sigh but allowed her steps away from the temporary den to continue.

The quick melt off of the spring had flooded most banks and the ground everywhere she went seemed to have taken on a soggy muddy quality and she found herself sometimes chest deep in its muck. So when a field of rocks broke up the sticky soggy ground she took it as an opportunity to try and dry herself off... well as much as possible.

So the small Destruction had spent some time trying to warm herself on the stone's cool surface. Then when she had grown bored of that she began hoping from stone. That was until something else caught her attention.

A small figure was perched atop a rock further away from her, she could just make out a silhouette from this distance.

She slipped from her stone perch and lowering herself into a stalking position  allowed herself to become wet and gross again. The mud blended well with much of her fur and as she drew closer she felt her stomach rumble. Briefly she thought of her knight and how he'd likely be returning with a snack or two for her but it wouldn't be so bad to cheat a bit now right?

So Luck would do her best to sneak up on her prey, and then when she was close enough she would pounce! Or at least that was the plan... in truth she ended up a few feet away from the bird gawking up at him.

She had never seen such strange plumage!

B, Just B

B was about to get up and fly away, cause he was bored bored bored! There was nothing to do stuck up on this rock, and no food. Nope, no food stuff at all, and he was getting hungry. So he spread his wings, and was about to take off when a wolf jumped over his rock and landed on the other side, staring up at him. B let out a mighty caw, his wings flapping as he took a few hops back, nearly falling backwards off his rock. His golden eyes were wide, feathers all standing on end. "Oi, oi! Don't eat B! B doesn't taste good!" he called, his beak clacking together with a loud snap. Why was it that he was always getting eaten by these woofs! He wasn't even that big! Yeah sure, he was bigger than most crows, but there was no meat stuff on his bones! "I'm all sharp and shiny, caw! Woof would not have a good meal, oh no oh no. Not even a tasty snack thing!" His head nodded up and down, his crest of feathers bobbing atop his crown. She was another small woof creature, not as big as some beasties that he had met before. But, she was very much bigger than him. He was just a small birdy! He was no match for a beastie, small or big. He had no teeth or claws, but he could fly! His wings stayed spread out, his body slightly lower to the ground as he prepared to take off at a moments notice. He was not planning to get eaten today, oh no.

Whatever Luck was expecting from her attempt to catch the bird it certainly wasn’t this! The avian cawed loudly at her as she hit the ground and as she was gaping up at him she heard words tumbling from his beak. Luck squeaked, taking a few short steps back as she fought to reign in her pounding heart partially reeling from the shock of language she could understand and partially from being startled by his outburst. Luck was just getting herself back together again when he spoke again and she ducked her head, ears pulling back.

“I’m sorry.” She said, voice soft and sweet and apologetic. “I didn’t know- I- Uh…” She trailed off failing to find a delicate way to say what was on her mind. Giving up she spoke again: “I’ve never met a bird who spoke, or at least in a language I understood… they usually just chirp.”

A thought entered her mind that maybe all prey animals spoke and her stomach turned, she wasn’t so hungry any more.

B, Just B

He watched the little beastie with narrowed yellow eyes, and then he saw that he was scared. He cawed softly, trying to be soothing. It was hard with the voice of a crow, everything was rough and tough sounding. Ruffling his feathers he flew down to the ground in front of the wolf, giving himself enough room between him and her big teefies. They may not be as sharp as kitty cat teef, but they were sharp enough to bite and hurt, hurt bad! He hopped two steps closer to her, letting out a whistling sound from his beak. He bent his head down, his green striped plumage bouncing as he did so. "It's okay small beastie, B did not mean to scare you. B just thought that you were gunna eat B, and B doesn't like to be eated, caw!" he said softly, his wings folding against his side. The woof explained that she had never met a bird that had spoken like him, and his head bobbed along with her words. "B is a special bird, yes yes! B is very special, and can speak so that the woofs and kitty cats can understand him. B has never met another birdy who speaks like B, and that makes B sad. B is all alone," he explained slowly, his head tilting and moving along with his words. Looking around, he saw that there were no other beasties here. "Is smallish woof all alone like B?" he asked, turning his beady yellow eyes back towards her.
