Hm. Trees. She liked trees. They were fun to climb. Especially ones that she could hear prey rustling about. She'd bound up the trees easily, eyes sparkling with merriment. She hadn't gone tree climbing in a long time, let alone hunted in the trees; it was nice to be doing it again. She'd pause near the top, peering between branches; she could see squirrels, birds, and oh did her mouth water from the scents. She would step with practiced ease, paws not disturbing a single leaf as she did so. It was not hard to step quietly, and she often wondered why some creatures had such difficulties doing so. She gripped as she spotted a squirrel - oblivious to her presence, busy with a nut. Probably didn't expect a predator around, and so the cat would travel from branch to branch, staying downwind... until she was in pouncing distance. She did so then, claws sinking cruelly into the back of the squirrel as her hind claws grasped the trunk for balance. Success! Thank goodness, because she was more than a little hungry. She would flop down where she was; the branch was more than wide enough for it as she tore open the squirrel.

It wasn't often that he came up north, but in the hunt for pretty things it took him everywhere. B liked his pretties! Limiting himself to one area would do no good, he had already searched many, many places. So he let out a caw, circling the dense forest. It was too hard to see down to the ground below, so he needed to land somewhere. Anywhere! Choosing one certain tree, he folded his wings and landed on a thick branch, his black feathers fluffing up as he did so. It was cold, cold cold! He didn't really like the cold, but he needed to find the pretties, all of the pretties! Preening a few of his feathers, he looked over and saw a black kitty cat eating a fluffy thing. The bird's yellow eyes grew wide, shuffling a few steps down the branch. He tried not to make any sounds, hoping that the kitty was distracted by her fluffy meal. Beak snapped together softly, slowly moving one foot behind the other until he was nearly at the tip of the branch. Not taking his weight into consideration, he heard the branch squeak and then it snapped completely under him. Letting out a loud caw his wings unfurled quickly, flapping quickly until he landing on the branch above him. He looked back down to the kitty, hoping that she heard none of that. B was a silly, silly bird! He didn't want to be eaten though, no no. That would not be fun at all.

She was enjoying her fluffy meal when a branch broke above her - and fell onto her head. Hissing, her head snapped up, eyes searching the above when a loud caw broke the soft chitter-chatter of the animals around. That. That was the creature that disturbed her meal. But then, her brow furrowed. What the utter hell was that thing? It seemed to big to be a crow, but it sure wasn't a raven. And what was on it's head? Decision made, she cast a long-suffering glance at her half-eaten meal before heading towards the trunk of the tree, claws sinking in as she scooted her butt up quickly. Hopefully, the crow-raven-weird-thing wouldn't fly away completely. She wanted to take a look at it, maybe catch it for an even better look.

As he stared at the cat, it looked up and hissed at him. B fluffed himself up at the sound, his little heart beating faster in his chest. And then it started to climb up the tree, and onto his branch. Fear pulsed off the bird, but he didn't show it. He tried to be brave, clacking his beak as his wings stayed half unfurled at his side. He was ready to fly at any given moment. "Don't eat B, B is icky and gross! B is all feathers, caw! All feathers and tiny bones, tiny bones that will choke the kitty cat!" He called, shuffling back over towards the end of the branch. His yellow eyes stayed trained on her, noticing her pretty eyes. He stopped, head bobbing back and forth, causing his green striped plumage to move along with it. "Kitty cat has pretty eyes, very pretty eyes! B wished that B had pretty eyes like the kitty cat!" He called, ceasing his movement. He could take a pretty eye if he wanted but the kitty cat had claws. Very sharp, pointy claws! And sharp, pointy pointy teef. Sharper than woof teef! He didn't want to get close to that mouth, oh no. That would not be fun at all, too scary for the cowardly bird.

Huh, the bird didn't fly away when she scrambled up the branch. Her head tilted. Was it an imbecile? Dumped from the nest early, perhaps? She'd seen lots of birds dumped from the nest early. She usually ate them. Licking her chops at the thought of bird, she eyed the creature. And then back down at her half-eaten meal that this odd bird disrupted. She was utterly unfazed by the clacking of his beak and the half-spread wings, because as big as he was, she was much, much faster. Although... he was near the end of the branch and so that part of the branch probably couldn't hold her weight. Too bad. Ah, well, anoth- Holy shit, the bird just spoke. Since when did birds speak? What? What the utter hell? Amaranthe blinked at it in shock. Her eyes only got wider when the thing commented on her eyes. "You - what - how - how the hell do you speak, bird?" she stammered, fur bristling slightly still from the shock of having her prey talk to her. Seriously, though. When did birds have the ability to speak?

The kitty cat seemed to be shocked that he could talk, but then she talked too! "Oi, oi! Kitty cat talked too! B is not the only animal that can talk, but B is a special bird," he called, head tilting to the side as he inspected her. He didn't run into many kitty cats, and the ones he did certainly did not talk! But the woofs here talked, so why not some other animals did too? It didn't faze him much, but he was just glad that the kitty cat didn't seem too interested in eating him now. He even took a cautious hop forward, green striped plumes shaking at the movement. "Does this mean that the kitty cat wants to talk? Caw! Kitty cat doesn't want to eat B?" His yellow gaze was hopeful, head darting to and fro as he kept a close eye on those sharp teefs and claws. B liked all of his pretty feathers, and he liked his life even better. He didn't want kitty cat to take either of those, oh no.
