The Alpha had promised the youth he would talk to their packs healer to see if he was prepared to take on an apprentice. He intended to make good on his promise sooner rather then later, the boy would be a year soon and he wanted him on the right track towards whatever future he desired. Besides, even if their Terrae didn't want to take on apprentice full time he imagined a little tutelage would also give him some further aid in restocking the supplies taken by the flooding.

He scratched on the wall of the earth elemental's den, his customary way of announcing himself before he called out softly. “Terrae are you in?” the scent of the man was fresh, he was either at home or had been not long ago.

Terrae indeed was home; in fact fast asleep before his older brother arrived. He laid on the soil curled into a tight ball, exhausted from the day's activities. Collecting herbs and setting up his garden, not to mention the little helper who had aided him in his planting. His body felt more and more sore with each passing day - joints aching and headaches intensifying. Unfortunately those were the effects of ageing, and even the most skilled healer couldn't stop ageing. It was just another natural process, and he had to cope with it. Another helper would be nice, someone to lessen his load of responsibilities or at least ease his work. A permanent one, like an apprentice. Someone younger, like a pup. But who?

He was awoken by a scratching sounding from his den's entrance, momentarily recognising his brother's scent. "Coming!" he called, bumping his head on the earthen ceiling as he tried to slither out from his lair. Lumbering out into the light, he stretched every limb, the aching pain still remaining, to his annoyance. "Hello brother," he greeted with a broad smile, as warm as the sun shining upon them, aiming to nudge the taller male's shoulder with his muzzle in a familial gesture.

The Alpha was not kept waiting long, as a voice called out from somewhere in the den before him. The Titan smiled and stepped back, giving Terrae room to crawl out of his den. He winced at the sound of popping joints at cracking bones as his brother stretched. The Alpha's grin broadened, a sure sign of mischief to come. “You should see a healer about that” he pointed to Terrae, and his aching limbs, before winking so he wouldn't take offence – Terrae had studied hard and was a fine healer.

Joking aside, he sat down beside the man, returning the nudge with one of his own. “Actually, I've come to ask a request of you. When we, Voltage and I, promoted you to lead healer I warned you that you would be in charge or broadening the knowledge of any healers we might gain. Well, that goes to pups as well. I wont force it upon you if you don't want an apprentice, but one of our young wolves, Mortar, has taken an interest in learning both healing and fighting. If you're up for it, I want you to take him on as an apprentice”

A small grin of his own tugged at his lips as his brother let a small joke slide. It wouldn't be long before the older male would start to feel the effects of ageing, if he hadn't already. For some it came sooner and for others it came later. "I'm working on that," he added with a wink, bending and straightening his limbs more comfortably. Painkillers always did the trick, though they didn't last long so he had to be cautious in case he overdosed. What was that remedy Rhythm had told him? Mixing alfalfa with water? Something along those lines. He'd have to try that out soon.

Sitting beside the slate man, he intently listened to what he had to say. It seemed to be a request of some sort, and as he continued to listen he could infer it had to do with apprenticeship. Terrae was very much excited by this, ebony features lighting up like a pup seeing the outside world for the first time. He expected his new apprentice to be one of his nieces, preferably the quiet Aurora, though was slightly confused to hear an unfamiliar name. "Mortar?" he repeated with a tilt of his head, hoping his brother would elaborate. Had he misheard? Had one of his siblings had a secret litter without him knowing?

Glacier nodded his head at Terrae's response, his grin no less mischievous then it had been a moment ago. He had no doubt Terrae would be able to look after his own health, through it highlighted the absence of other healers in the pack. It would be good to get others knowledge up, to have more healers for Terrae to discuss and bounce ideas off of. He knew they had Lior, but he hadn't seen that woman in some time and hadn't yet seen her further her knowledge or utalise her skills. He shook his head, dismissing the thoughts as he watched Terrae's face light up like the Northern Lights.

He was surprised at Terrae's question. He knew Mortar had been quiet and keeping to himself, but it seemed knowledge of him hadn't spread very far. “He's a youngster me and Anais have taken under our wing and adopted. He's been keeping to himself for a bit, I think he misses his family and has only just started to find his way into fitting in here – namely through Ray's insistence on dragging him around the territory” he smiled at the thought of his trouble making daughter. “If your interested, I can introduce you to him?” he suggested.

Ah, so this Mortar wasn't a secret nephew of his. He had been hoping to get a nephew, seeing as both of his brothers' litters were dominated with girls, but it didn't matter at this point in time. What mattered was this new apprentice of his! The healer, though ageing with the evident ache in his limbs, felt youth return to his form as he controlled the sudden urge to hop around on his earthen paws. Yes, he was enthralled by this news.

It was heartwarming to hear this pup was settling into the pack well. Losing family at such an age could be a depressing if not traumatic experience, though he was glad his niece was trying to befriend him. Terrae definitely wanted to meet him and develop a friendly bond, for it seemed he would be his mentor for a while. He wanted to be a figure the pup looked up to as a role model. "Oh yes please," he answered eagerly, bronze eyes still glimmering.

“Alright then” Glacier said, unable to hide the spark in his eyes. That had been even easier then he thought, Mortar would have a mentor and get started on learning to heal, and Terrae a student to teach. He still needed to talk to Voltage about teaching him to fight, but it was one step at a time. His grin widened a little more, very soon Mortar would be far too busy for Ray to drag him into too much more trouble. Perhaps not having someone to show off to, would curb some of her recklessness.

He led the way through the prairie towards Mortar's den, it wasn't a long walk, the Prairie was a comfortable size, big enough to sustain them and give the kids a place to play, but it wasn't huge either. As he approached the pups den he scratched at the door and called inside. “Mortar?” he certainly believed more in privacy then Ray did.

Mortar was a bit surprised when he heard a scratching on the outside of his den. He hadn't been sleeping, but he hadn't been expecting a visitor either. Ever since Glacier's scolding and the run down of the rules he and Ray had been going out to do things less and less. Perhaps she'd taken her father's scolding to heart? A part of him wanted to believe him but a bigger part doubted it. Still he loved being around Ray, she was a lot of fun, even if she invaded his personal space and got him into trouble.

“Mortar?”

He instantly recognized the voice of Glacier and the boy rose to his paws. He swiftly padded to the entrance of his den and peered up at Glacier. A soft tail wag and a smile was his greeting to the older wolf before he peered behind Glacier to look at the wolf that had tagged along. He gazed at the brown wolf quizzically, almost surprised that he wasn't some strange shade of blue or red or something, before looking back at Glacier.

"Yes sir?" He asked curiously, hoping he hadn't done something to get himself into trouble again. Maybe he'd brought this wolf to come watch him 24/7. The strangest thing was he couldn't remember if he'd done anything else to get into trouble. He didn't think so...

With a skip in his step, he followed behind his older brother, holding his chin high and letting his ebony tail streak like a banner behind him. He was light on his earthen paws, feeling a pleasant summer's breeze buffet his complexion. Questions lazily spun through his mind as he entertained the possibilities. What would this Mortar be like? Would he have a true desire for learning? Would he enjoy the lead healer's lessons? Terrae could only hope for so much.

Stopping behind his brother, his bronze gaze watched curiously as the slate male scratched the entrance to the boy's den. Momentarily, a large, grey pup emerged from the den, greeting Glacier with 'sir'. Well, the healer was quite impressed by this. What a polite child. Yes, Terrae could definitely see himself mentoring this boy. In the meanwhile, he remained quiet, knowing the pup had addressed the question to Glacier, not him. After all, it was best if the head of the pack introduced him.

He smiled at the young wolf as he met them at his den entrance, he could see the look of worry settle on the boys expression, and the Alpha's grin only broadened. No, Tar hadn't gotten into any more trouble since their talk and he was certain the message had sunk in. No, this was more in the way of a reward, fulfilling a request to boy had made of him.

He paused a moment, as the three wolves got a chance to look at each-other, before taking the moment Terrae left him with to introduce them all. He gave his brother a slight nod of his head, acknowledging how he politely left Glacier to do the introductions. “This is my son, Mortar. Mortar, this is my brother, Terrae. He is the healer of Donostrea... and he had agreed to take you on as his apprentice, if your still willing?” he would explain himself, nodding head to both of them and already taking a step back, preparing to leave them to get to know each-other and Terrae to chose how to handle this in whatever way he chose to – so long as they both still looked as through they approved this idea.

The first thing the blue Alpha did was smile at Mortar and the boy felt his worry ease slightly. Surely if Glacier was upset with him about something he wouldn't be smiling at him. So a soft smile crept upon his face tugging lightly at the corner of his lips. He had a much better feeling about this meeting then. If he wasn't here to scold him then what was he here for? And why bring along the other male. Speaking of the other male... his gaze shifted towards the other male as he eyed him curiously. He smelled strongly of Donostrea and he seemed to resemble Glacier's family a bit, just lacking the bright colors, so maybe he was a brother of Glacier's?

“This is my son, Mortar. Mortar, this is my brother, Terrae. He is the healer of Donostrea... and he had agreed to take you on as his apprentice, if your still willing?”

His gaze swiftly snapped back towards Glacier as he spoke. He felt an extreme amount of happiness well within his chest as Glacier introduced him as his son. When he'd first arrived at Dono's borders he would have never expected to be adopted by anyone, much less be viewed as family like Anais, Ray, Glacier, and the others had accepted him. He didn't focus on Glacier's choice of wording for long as his attention was averted towards the second half of that introduction. So this guy was the lead healer of Dono? His eyes flicked to the earthen colored male for a moment before going back to the Alpha and then back and forth once again. His tail thumped excitedly against the ground. There was, of course, only one way to answer this!

"I'm still more than willing!" He said with a soft amount of excitement. He then turned to Terrae trying to tone down his excitement for a minute before addressing the other male. "When can we start?"

As his elder brother did the introductions - introducing the boy to him and him to the boy, he noticed how he called the pup 'son'. He had been expecting just Mortar, though it was pleasing to hear that his brother was including the orphan in the family. That meant he would have to call him 'nephew', and though they weren't related, he had always wanted a nephew, especially after his brothers' litters of only girls. A nephew that shared a strong interest in healing was almost too good to be true. Yes, he could see himself mentoring this child.

His bronze eyes flickered and rested on the boy as his turn to speak came. He appeared evidently eager - a splitting smile across his features and tail madly thumping the ground. The healer could barely contain his own excitement at the sight. How wonderful! A keen apprentice was an apprentice he wanted. "Whenever you like," he answered the pup's enthusiastic query with a beaming smile, sending a sideward glance to his brother. He hoped if the older man had anything to add to their training he would speak up, though if not, the healer was more than willing to whisk the boy off on a magnificent adventure through healing.

Mortar hadn't lost any of his enthusiasm, and the giant nodded his head towards the younger man, approval written on the Alpha's face. The question he asked was clearly directed at Terrae and already Glacier was preparing to take a step back. Before he did, he leaned forward and gently knocked his head against Mortar's side. “Have fun” he said, his tone parental, before he looked over at his brother. “I'll leave him in your capable hands now, if there is any resources you need just ask” he said, clearly happy to help the two of them however he could. But with that, the Alpha's job here was done and he would offer them both one last parting look before he turned and left them to get to know each other.
