Sabine lay with her forelegs outstretched and her toes dangling in the water below. She lay on a large rock on the river's edge a ways downstream from the waterfalls. She was close enough to listen to the cascading water but just far enough away to avoid getting misted. The atmosphere was warm, but not oppressive, although the river added a level of humidity to the air that bordered on unpleasant. Beneath Sabine the rock, heated by the sunshine, warmed her full belly. For once her demeanor could be likened to a sleepy kitten's instead of an irritable wildcat's.

She yawned and dropped her head to her paws. With summer here the river was once again within its banks. Soon enough she could make her way to the north, although if these summer months stayed this mild she might be content to linger in the east. She had plenty of time to make up her mind. With no one to depend on her and no schedule to follow she could go where and when she wanted. And what she wanted right now was to bask on the rock like a big sleepy lizard.

Summer to her, was a time of revival.A time for wolves to radiate joy and love and for the sins of winter to be forgotten. But of course that wasn`t the case for most, and she was glad that it was the case for her. Versailles tail swayed quickly behind her as she weaved her way in and out of shadowy trees. She stopped at times to bask in the sunlight before continuing on her little exploration.Green orbs looked over everything she passed by, and she stopped a little abruptly to let a butterfly flutter on it`s merry way. She smiled at it, watching it as it passed by. It wasn`t long though, until the female sniffed out the scent of another female, a short walk ahead of her. Versailles licked her lips, and teeth. A salmon hued tongue lolling out the side of her mouth.

Verse moves her body, twisting it to the west. She felt that she would end up behind the said wolf, and they would either get mad or defensive, or both. Her ears flickered, in response to scraping against a low twig and she growled lowly at it, but remained walking with that elegant swagger she so gladly possessed. It wasn`t long until she had arrived at the small waterfalls where the scent lingered, sort of covered by the scent of the water, and wet soil and rocks. She hadn`t even noticed how thirsty she was until she heard the water falling from the rocks, and running down a small creek or stream. An oasis, she supposed this could be called, for those who needed peace and quiet. Quickly she lowered her head to the water and lapped up thirstily. She let her body give out from under her, and she dipped her paws in the cool water, splashing about without purpose.

The moment Sabine became aware of the presence of something else she was thrown into awareness. Her ears swiveled around in the hopes of pinpointing the location of whatever was moving nearby. Thankfully what she was hearing definitely wasn't the brutish steps of a bear. Whatever it was, its steps were lighter. Faster. A deer, maybe? With the wind in her face and the sound coming from behind her, surely a deer would have scented her and given her a wide berth. So not a deer. Inwardly Sabine was prepared for anything, but outwardly she remained as she'd been before she'd heard the movements. She lay sprawled out comfortably with her head on her paws.

She listened intently as the creature neared but remained unmoving on her warm rock. Unless it was a bear - which it wasn't - she wasn't giving up her sunny spot. Wisely the creature steered clear of her rock and chose instead to move to the water's edge for a drink. The lapping sound was a familiar one. Wolf. Or large coyote, but she assumed the smaller canine would have had the same sense as a deer. The wolf drank its fill and then began to splash around; the sound grating on Sabine's nerves and marring the tranquil atmosphere.

Without removing her chin from her paws Sabine swiveled her head so that her nose was pointed in the direction of the splasher. Her tone a slightly pointed purr, she asked, "Bored?"
