Curiosity killed the cat.

Wasn't that how the saying went? Well then, surely Aristè should be dead, for she let her paws carry her away once again. Lost herself to the thoughts that plagued her, the memories she allowed herself to dwell on from time to time. But never for too long, she wouldn't get mopey. Just enough for her perpetually tense shoulders to relax, robotic, purposeful motions melting into a casual, graceful gait. Having her guard down wasn't a luxury she had since she was a mere pup - days she hardly remembered, until now.

Ambling toward the bay, the fae let her nose guide her. Black nostrils flared, picking up the scent of seawater as she arrived. Rough pads traversed over rocky terrain with ease, leaping over the familiar surface until callused paws landed softly in the sun-warmed sand.

Head twisting to look down the beach, she squinted in the midday light, trying to avoid the glare. Inhaling again, she more thoroughly took note of the scents, eyes closing for a moment, before opening once more. This place was good, especially if there was no one else here. With another glance, she ambled down the shore, letting the sun warm her dark pelt, but not until she was uncomfortable. Perhaps if she did, she would dip into the water, just getting her coat wet.

Long legs stretching, she propelled herself forward, breaking into a short, impatient run out of boredom. Kicking up sand in her wake, she slowed a ways from where she had begun. Snorting, she plopped herself down in the sand, inexpressive gaze falling back on the sea of rolling and leaping blue waves. Audits twitching, a salmon coloured tongue snaked out to wet her nose, as she settled in to tuning in to nature.

A soft grumble escaped his jowls as he padded across the rocky expanse towards the beach. Boredom had drug him away from Mount Volkan but the heat was about to drive him right back. He was one of the lucky wolves who had completely pale coats (not including his legs) so it wasn't that bad. Short fur covered the expanse of his body but it didn't mean he appreciated the sweltering heat anymore than anyone else. He was used to the chill of the mountains, it was where he'd lived all his life, so leaving was a pretty big climate change for him.

The change of scenery was a refreshing change for Grimm. It wasn't all creepy or dark like other places he'd enjoyed, and the fact he was out here in the daytime was earth-shattering, but it was nice to escape. Perhaps for once he'd find something or someone interesting enough to keep him entertained for more than a few moments. That was the thing with a solitary existence... with no one around it was a dull life. Had his siblings actually stuck around they'd be off terrorizing the country side, but they'd been split apart ages ago. Pestilence and him had stayed together for a little while, but even she had left him. He was alone and most weren't even worth a second glance, much less allowed to stay with him.

Rocks swiftly changed into sand and the trickster paused to feel it sift beneath his toes before he padded closer to the waters. He hadn't been here in what felt like forever, though not much had changed. Other than the few minuscule changes like scattered driftwood and differences in the sand dunes there wasn't anything that was different. His muzzle wrinkled in disgust at the thought of it. Why did he come here again?

He walked until water began to lap at his toes and then he walked some more. Foam tickled the fur on his legs for a while as he trotted along the shoreline. He didn't slow until he spotted something rather interesting. A shark had managed to beach itself. He wasn't familiar with sharks, but this one was massive and mostly gray with a white underbelly. It was very much dead though from the smell it hadn't been that way for very long. He glanced around for a moment before shooing off the birds that had accumulated. He preferred hunting his own food but it wasn't often one got to enjoy shark. So he ate his fill from it before leaving the kill, blood still smeared across his face. He'd clean it off later.

His stroll didn't last very long before the scent of another wolf caught his attention. Feminine from what he could tell. He'd been under the impression he was alone though he certainly wouldn't have minded the company at that point. His pace quickened as lanky legs seemed to eat the ground as he loped across the sand. Her dark figure stuck out like a sore thumb compared to the lightness of the beach. She was a slim and dainty looking thing. Simple yet elegant. He couldn't already tell this was possibly going to be fun.

So he put on his most charming and dazzling grin, a hint of sly mischievousness added to it, as he slowed his pace and padded over to her. He still gave them a bit of distance as he wasn't so foolish as to go within biting distance.

"Enjoying yourself?" He asked with feigned innocence, staring her up and down as he calculated her, trying to figure out everything about her before she even spoke.

Just as she had begun to drift off, eyes closing and ears twitching along with the white noise of the ocean, something disturbed her. She wasn't sure if her ears picked up soft pawsteps, or the scent of another wolf touched her nose first, but a small shiver ran down her spin, drawing her out of her reverie. Golden orbs opening, then narrowing, she didn't move, making as though she hadn't noticed the male. Sure enough, a deep voice graced her ears, sickeningly sweet to her ears. Shifting her stance, she rolled her shoulders and arched her back, maw opening wide in a yawn. Teeth clicking as her jaw snapped shut, she finally turned to survey him. As usual, she planned to examine his form - to see just how much of a threat he posed, should he be looking for trouble - but concerningly found her luminaries drawn directly to his in curiosity. Heterochromia - she'd seen it before, in other wolves. One eye was a vibrant green, the other a shocking blue, making for quite a spectacle. She also noted interesting markings around his eyes, but let her gaze wander to their original target. He was actually quite small - not in height, but she guessed he weighed little more than she did, if at all. He certainly seemed a fair match.

"Eyes wandering, sister?" Aristè nearly snorted aloud when the voice in her head spoke, Quinn. She thought she had left it behind, along with her pack and any other bad memories. Nose twitching, she elected to ignore it, instead looking through the strange wolf. At least he had enough sense to leave adequate distance between them.

"Yes, I am." She kept her answer short and evasive. Finally rising to her paws, she turned to properly face him, lissome limbs standing to their full height, as her ears perked atop her head. Studying his face, she tried to watch for his true reaction, curiosity reflecting in her own. "And you, brute?" She questioned, not willing to reveal any more than her automatic mannerisms. Muscles rolling beneath her coat as she waited for her cues, she gave enough pause for him to answer, or fail to answer her first question, before moving on to another, more intriguing one. One that she wanted to know far more.

"And what is your name?" Her voice rang out once more, words rolling off her tongue with ease, crafted carefully to balance interest and neutrality. She wanted to see where he stood, if he rang true before ignoring him in annoyance for interrupting her. Glaring, daring him to respond negatively, she waited on an answer, still subtly on guard against attack.

The girl seemed not to have noticed his presence until he spoke, that or she'd ignored him until now, and he felt a small amount of amusement at it. The smallest of smirks splayed across his face as she seemed almost cat like stretching and arching her back as if she were a feline. Jaguar. Yeah that seemed about right. She was like a slim tiny Jaguar. It was cute... well cute in his odd little sense of fascination with the abnormal. Cute in an amusing type of way. He was strange like that.

Like some wolves Grimm found an amount of satisfaction in his appearance and didn't mind the wandering eyes of the she-wolf as she stared him up and down. Her eyes first met his and he just raised an eyebrow as she stared for only a moment before looking over the rest of him. He could already feel his ego flaring up, not that it wasn't already large beforehand, and it irked him that he wasn't a mind reader. Granted he could probably assume she was just seeing how they'd match up in a fight but it was nice to think that she was admiring his pristine white coat and sleek black markings.

"Yes, I am."

Short and simple. She'd finally rise to meet him and his smirk widened a bit. She sure seemed pretty confident. Or at least that was his opinion on her attitude. It was interesting and it pleased him a bit. Some others would be off-put by his presence or unwelcoming. She seemed... indifferent. Well maybe he could change that. Make a game out of it at least.

"And you, brute?"

"Ah, I'm hardly a brute, love." He wouldn't give an explanation. That would be too boring. "But I am enjoying myself now." He said with a small grin.

"And what is your name?"

Still will the indifference. She seemed genuinely curious about his name, but it almost seemed like an act. She was a curious one indeed. He'd have fun trying to crack into that shell of hers. This certainly was more fun than he'd expected. She didn't seem like those cookie-cutter wolves that all looked the same to him like black silhouettes with their bubbly personalities and their justice. It made him sick.

"Grimmjow Jaeger. You?"

Attentive eyes watched the male as a smirk twitched his black lips back further and further, bordering an outright grin. Disinterest subtly reflected in them, as she waited for the answers to her questions. Eyes flicking up and down his form again when he denied being a brute, less of a once over, more in annoyed point-making. But her sour demeanor melted away, into indifference once again, and a hint of a returning smirk tugged on her charcoal lips. It was surprisingly soft, compared to the rest of her actions, but quickly hardened again. Shifting into a mischievous smirk, her tail tip flicked, as her smile dropped. Raising her head, she looked down her snout at him.

"Aristé, Bellatorum." She replied, just as shortly as the last time. Rolling her shoulders, she lowered her head, to see his reaction. She had seemed to flick between many different "emotions" very quickly, from disgust to haughtiness, and she was curious as to how he would react. She wouldn't call it a show, mostly... mimicking. And the way she did it made her seem like she was putting on a play, or bipolar. Acting as though she had emotions, and swung wildly through them, unable to stick to one for this 'Grimmjow'. She didn't know him yet, and didn't know what kind of mask she should put up.  He didn't seem to important, at least not to her. He was no Alpha, he didn't have the distinct, strong scent and dominant attitude for it. He seemed as laidback and 'playful' as her, although she wasn't inclined to trust only looks. And she definitely didn't trust his handsome mug.

"What's a brute like you doing out here?" She finally drawled easily, a slow blink to match her once again indifferent and uncaring attitude.  Leaving the question hanging in the air, her ear twitched as she shifted uncomfortably, sun beginning to overheat her fur. It was greeted by a cool, welcome breeze, but it wasn't enough to put her thick black coat at ease. A blessing for a curse, at least she never got cold during winter. Flicking her tail again, she plopped down in his seat, watching him with burning intensity. Scratching her scruff with her hind leg, she daringly watched every movement of his. She was in a vulnerable position that would make it easy to attack her, and she just wanted to see if he had any interest in pouncing.
