Count on me

It seemed like every day at least once these days he was questioning whether he was being a good enough father for his children, especially with Svetlana missing. He had worried about it before with how busy he always was, but at least he could count on Svetlana to make sure they were cared for while he was away taking care of Fiori. Now all he could do was hope that he was giving them the love they deserved and still try to keep Fiori afloat.
He sighed as he trotted back toward the den. He had gotten up just as the sun was beginning to peek over the horizon to do his first patrol of the day and renew the border markings and now the sun was fully up, lighting up the mangroves with late morning light. The task had taken longer than he would have liked, but the markers had been in bad need of refreshing since his current worries had kept him from maintaining them.
As he got close to home he spotted his more brightly marked son first, smiling a little when he saw him. It seemed that Quentin was the only one of the bunch that had gotten his vibrant russet since Roza was much more muted and the other two had gotten mainly Svetlana's gray. He slowed to a walk and padded over toward his son, his expression brightening as he pushed aside his worries in his mind. "Hey there, Quen. What are you up to today?"
