Walk | Talk | Think
The phrase went "curiosity killed the cat" and Laila was starting to think it might not have been very far from the mark. She had tried to stay away, spending much of her time in the southern region and exploring what the lands had to offer. They were plentiful, green and vibrant and varied in what they had to offer its residents and wanderers. But there were quite a few rogues and packs and considering she was only one cat, with no pack to back her up in case she needed assistance, the golden feline had been wary. It would have been so easy to be found out there, to be met with violence without any chance to prove herself to be nonthreatening, and so she had ventured away, choosing instead places that were less hospitable to the wolf community, searching for some place she could take advantage of that they might overlook.
Her wanderings brought her further toward the west, dangerously close to where the Valhallan pack had once been. And though she knew it was not what it once was, that her welcome had completely gone with the passing of leadership to the new victor, she found herself venturing closer and closer. The border that she had once been familiar with had gone, and though at first it made her wonder whether they had moved entirely Laila soon learned that territories had merely been dropped.
Which meant the lake that she had originally met Erani at was free.
She was headed there now, treading quietly through the wood on large paws that pressed almost silently upon the earth with each step. Her keen nose could smell the stale scent of wolves, could tell where the border sat so she could stay clear of it, as well as the smell of the water that had drawn her out and coaxed her into a position to meet with one of the residents that had once lived here. Spying the edge of the treeline, the water beginning to glimmer under the sunlight beyond, Laila slowed her step and stopped, the cougar keeping to the shadows as she crouched and crept a little closer to investigate the entire scene before she gave any thought to trying to take a sip from the lake again.
