OOC: Hey guys. Just letting you know that this is a mandatory pack hunt, and EVERY SOLSTICE MEMBER IS REQUIRED TO PARTICIPATE! This of course excludes pups and members that have prior absence notices. We plan to post in order as soon as everyone shows up, but to keep you all motivated we will be enforcing a first post deadline of MONDAY, AUGUST 18TH and at that date I will post. Those who don't participate for no reason at all will be punished IC by the almighty Crucifix!!! You have been warned! xD

Dayton woke up early that morning, stretching his limbs as the first rays of sunshine peeked into his den. He carefully placed a kiss on the forehead of his sleeping son, and then he moved outside. Dawn was just beginning to break, and it turned the dew into gold as he walked toward the open prairie land. Crucifix had asked his friend to hold a pack hunt, and that was exactly what Dayton planned to do. He wanted to help Solstice grow and improve, perhaps building a rank for himself as he did so. But the pack came first. Crucifix came first. So the brute strode confidently into the prairie, his long legs stirring the fresh green grasses. He already spotted a few brown patches in the distance, and the scents on the wind spoke of many herds of deer. Spring was the prime time for hunting. And it was about time these members showed their faces. Dayton chuckled quietly at the thought and came to the top of a hill, looking out across the green expanse before lifting his head to the sky. He sent up a call to all capable members of Solstice. He expected everyone to attend, save for the children, of course. His song danced through the trees and into the distance, and he made sure his order was clear. Attendance was mandatory. That was what Crucifix wanted, after all.

Orchid had decided to move with Cru into the new lans of Solstice. She wasn't sure what her family was doing but it seemed they had decided to move on. It was a hole in her heart not to be with them always, but she had found a great love for being a healer within her own pack. Her family, as far as she knew, where simply waiting, idling away as loners until something happened and she wasn't ready to live like that. Her other regret of course would be to her student, she had found a great deal of fun in teaching her and now she also was gone. Not to mention her friendship in the old Covari Queen seemed no longer to exist. For that matter, no one in Solstice seemed to be getting sick, like, come on! Not even a splinter had come her way!

The grumpy healer was feeling useless and not needed, so when the call rang out for hunters she would obediently make her way towards the caller. She didn't know him, he wasn't of old Covari, but that didn't matter, it gave her a chance to be useful. ?Hey! I'm Orchid, im a healer but I wouldn't mind a chance to stretch my legs? she joked, even through the call had asked for all except pups, so that included healers.

A call rang out that was not familiar. But whoever he was, was summing the pack. She would move towards the stranger, curious to know who he was. This stranger was already in her good graces, calling the pack together for a hunt. Activity sat well with her, and so far it had been lacking. Before her arrival, she hoped that many would join in on the fun. Those that didn't.... Well she had a plan for them already. She was not one to tolerate laziness or give many chances. It they didn't show their faces, there would be consequences. Longs limbs would bring her to a small crowd consisting of only two wolves. One was familiar, Orchid, but the chocolate man was not. "Orchid, its good to see you again." She would smile at the pale woman who had treated her before turning her attention and smile to the man. "I'm afraid we haven't met. I am Sibelle, Regimen of Solstice." Her tail would wag slowly as she introduced herself to the stranger. He smelled of Solstice, so he was obviously an existing pack member, not a total stranger.

She had been settling in nicely with her tiny family. Her kids had taken to exploring, they were growing so fast. Sadly, they had all been rather reclusive, taking time to settle in before venturing out and meeting the rest of the pack. But it seemed like someone else had other plans. With a smile, she would rise, leaving behind the den to answer the call. A pack hunt was about to begin. Her children were not quite old enough to participate, but she saw no harm in them tagging along to meet the pack if they so chose. With a quick glance at Ares, she would pick up an easy trot, finally in a place she was comfortable enough to leave her kids unsupervised for short periods of time. When the dark woman finally made it, several others had already gathered, most of which she didn't know. "Hello, I'm Devya." It was a general introduction to the few that had already gathered. Excitement quivered her narrow frame, she had never participated in a group hunt before. Growing up as a rogue, and then living quietly within a pack, she never got to experience things working as a team with other members. She was happy that her children would get to experience such things, and hopefully, she and Ares would grow to be more active members within he pack. The woman desperately wanted Ares to fit in somewhere and enjoy pack life, but he had always been so slow to to meet new wolves. A sigh would roll off her tongue but she quickly squashed any negative feelings, refocusing her attention on the good.

Crucifix wanted everyone to participate in the hunt, in part it was a chance to see how many people where still hanging around close enough to hear the call and how many considered themselves enough of a part of Solstice to participate. He would set a good example by showing up himself and moving his way over to Dayton. He would let the other take full charge of the meeting of course, he wanted also to see how Dayton did. He would look out across the pack as he heading in the direction of call, wondering how many would indeed show up. When he reached the area he was already delighted to see those that where there already. ?Dayton, thank you calling this? he said warmly. ?Orchid, Sibelle, Devya, good to see you all again? he would continue, smiling, before he placed himself beside Sibelle.

After that little speech he would turn to his hunter, and ask conversationally ?How did you want to do this, Dayton?? he asked, burying his worries beneath a cheerful voice as he turned to his friend. His words where part curiosity, and partly so Dayton knew for sure that Cru was giving him full control of the situation.

Twig would leave her children under the watchful eye of their father so she could go and attend the pack hunt with her brother. The call would sound from one she did not know, but still she would follow and arrive right after the other cross marked wolf. She?d smile shyly as her shoulder bumped against his own, a quick nuzzle would be given before she nodded to the other attending members. Eventually she?d learn their names, she owed them that at least. After enough repetition she was sure to remember right?
She?d find her focus though, not having been in a real pack hunt since before their mother died she was a bit nervous. Were her skills still as sharp as she remembered them? She?d find out in a moment, though she?d try and help as much as she could in any situation. Ears would perk as she looked to Dayton, ready for instructions.

OOC: Yeah, so I know what I great example I'm being, not replying to my own hunt thread by the due date? But my internet hasn't been working for about five days, so that's why. So sorry about that! Let's keep things moving and try to have everyone reply by next week. So that's THURSDAY AUG 28th guys! :D

The brute smiled as the first member arrived. She was an established healer in the pack, and if his memory served him her name was Orchid. Dayton would lower his head gratefully at her words, chuckling a bit at her phrasing. "I would never think to turn you away, my lady. We'll need everyone to help out if we wish to be successful."

Dayton then lifted his eyes to the next arrival. She would stride in on long legs and held her posture dominantly. Instantly Dayton recognized this to be Sibelle. He briefly looked her over and took in a silent breath through his nose, memorizing her for future reference. Sibelle was an important figure in Solstice. "I'm afraid we haven't met. I am Sibelle, Regimen of Solstice." Her tail wagged easily as she spoke, and Dayton mirrored the movement, adding in a bow of respect. "No, we haven't met, but of course I know who you are," he smiled for a moment before introducing himself. "I am Dayton, member of Solstice and close friend to Crucifix."

Another woman came next, and she introduced herself politely. "Hello, Devya. My name is Dayton," he told her. "It's my pleasure to meet you." After Devya had settled in with the group, the alpha himself arrived. Crucifix immediately maneuvered his way to the earthen boy that had called the meeting, his voice as warm and friendly as always. Dayton simply nodded in response. Then he would be asked about how he planned to do things with the hunt, and to that he would say "I guess it depends on how many members show up."

But perhaps saying such a thing jinxed the group, because after Crucifix came only one other wolf arrived. It was the woman who was related to Crucifix, judging by her scent, but Dayton had yet to learn her name. And she was the only one who did not introduce herself, so Dayton made the first move, waiting quietly until she had greeted the alpha. "Thank you for coming, miss, I don't believe we've met? My name is Dayton."

But that was it. All of the members had come, or perhaps some had failed to respond. Amber eyes moved across the group, taking in all five wolves. And one of them was the alpha. Dayton sighed before addressing the group. They had waited long enough, and the herds were getting farther away by the minute. "Thank you all for coming today, though I'm sure we all expected a few more helping hands..." The brute would squint into the surrounding trees one last time, still just a little bit hopeful. Then he spoke again. "Either way, we will make do with what we have. This will be a small hunt because of our numbers, but that does not mean we won't be successful. Many herds are taking advantage of the fresh grass this prairie has to offer. And in turn, we will take advantage of the abundant prey. Who here believes themselves capable of leading the hunt with me? This will include the responsibility of making the final kill," he added. "So please keep that in mind when volunteering."

Dayton paused for a moment to let his words sink in and to allow any volunteers to speak up. Then he went on. "We also need wolf or two to run ahead and scout out our prey, so those of you who are light on their feet or do not feel comfortable doing the killing can take over that responsibility." He looked about then, waiting for responses. As soon as they could figure out their roles, then this hunt could get under way. Then they could talk strategy and things.

The healer would grin pleasantly at the hunter boy and his words, he was polite and sweet and she took a liking to him immediately ? fresh meat to corrupt after all, right? She was not however impressed with the show of wolves that turned up, but then she doubted anyone was. She knew for a fact that this wasn't all the pack, no way near and yet this was all that wanted to turn up to a mandatory meeting. She would notice the sigh Dayton let slip and would offer him another crocked grin, watching as he collected himself and prepared for the hunt to come. She liked a strong boy that could take lead, and he seemed to have no problem stepping forward and calling the shots here. She would slide forward towards Dayton as he spoke, her expression was purely troublesome when she spoke. ?i?ll lead with you Dayton, i have no problem taking down my prey? she winked at him and took a seat beside him as they waited for the others to choose their positions.

Dayton was a polite young man. She found herself liking him. Perhaps they could make him their lead hunter. Instead of allowing herself to become distracted, she would focus on his words. But before she could volunteer, Orchid would. The Queen had no issue siting back and allowing everyone else to take the lead. Leading was her job, she did it every day, there was no harm in taking a break and allowing someone else to do so. Her gaze would sweep the crowd, annoyed with the size of he crowd, but pleased with those who did show. She waited for someone to volunteer to run ahead. She could do it, but there were others here who were lighter and undoubtedly faster than she could be. They would also have an easier time sneaking around. Her tail would twitch back and fort her, adrenaline beginning to leak into her system wight he anticipation of a group hunt. She had hunted in a group in so long, it was exciting to be able to do it again. The thrill of being able to hunt with her pack mates, to bring down their prey together and then feast together. A smile toyed with in her lips as she waited for Dayton to give the command for them to begin.

She was disappointed that Ares would not get to hunt beside her. But she couldn't be happier to be his mate. He had sat back and stayed with the children, offering to supervise them while she went out to hunt. A few others trickled in, but the group was rather small. Could they actually bring down a large animal? She held back her thoughts, allowing herself to focus on the man that was speaking. She would dip her head in greeting to those who greeted her and offered up a smile. A pale woman would offer to help kill the animal, but no one had offered to run ahead. "I'd be happy to run ahead and scout out prey." She would speak up, creating a place for herself within the hunt. She was tall, and lean, more than capable of moving with speed. Her tail would wag slowly as she shot a friendly smile towards Dayton. Toes would knead the ground in anticipation. She would get to participate in her first pack hunt. The only thing that could make this better was experiencing it with Ares. One day they would do it together, and then with their children. A small smile remained plastered on her face as she waited.

She would happily greet her brother, unashamed of nuzzling him and showing her obvious affection. Bright eyes would match her smile as the leader of the hunting expedition would introduce himself to her. Dayton was his name, Twig thought she might have heard Cru mention him before but she was unsure. Even so, she would nod her head respectfully in greeting. ?Good to meet you Dayton, I?m Twig.? She?d smile once again, but there would be no more new arrivals. Dayton would continue, laying out a game plan.
There were only a few special requirements, but Twig was rather confident in her speed. She would go with the white marked woman to scout ahead. ?I?ll help Scout.? her vibrant gaze would flick to Devya and she would nod respectfully, her body falling into a hunter?s pose. She was ready when the word was given.

She arrived late, something the girl hadn't intended to do. A sigh escaped her lips as she showed up on the outskirts of the small group. Red and blue eyes shimmered as they looked at the various wolves now present. She immediately recognized Cru, Sib, and Twig. All three were a part of her past, present, and now future. Silently, she thanked her lucky stars for having crossed paths with him in her first year of life.
Tan paws brought her to the group and she softly cleared her throat. "I'm sorry for arriving late," she said, tones soft with a bit of guilt. "If there is anything I can do to help, I will be more than eager." She enjoyed hunting, but not as much as she did for battles.

Late he would arrive, and later than intended. For all that the healer was in no rush to hunt with his pack - whose foolish members would surely mess something up, Altavro didn't want to toe the line with such mandatory events as this. He needed to stay here, needed a home here - or Albatross did, at least. He wasn't sure which of their wants and desires were his and which were hers, and in the end, it didn't truly matter. He loved her, and she was happy here, and so, in turn, was he.

And so when Altavro made an appearance, he would incline his head towards the male who had called him, maw opening to allow an apology to spill from his lips. "This will not happen again." The Miraculo stated simply, "And I apologize." Words fell easily from his tongue, and he waited now in silence for instruction. It looked like things had not entirely gotten under swing just yet - perhaps Albatross would make an appearance today? The thought brought a flash of joy to the male; to see her would make this that much more bearable.

Albatross has spoken to Crucifix about what position she wanted to become, and the simple solution had been healer. She loved to spend time with Altavro and well she knew very little about healing it was enough for her that she would be in his presence. She didn't doubt he would be fine with teaching her, so far he had been a hero through and through always looking out for, being there for her and ensuring she was well and happy. All the same she would run it by him and see if he would indeed teach her in the art of healing. The call for hunters had rung out by Albatross had barely even realized what the call was for, she still had moments where she was out of it and it was Altavro?s scent that brought her to the gathering. His scent was as familiar to her as her own, she could follow it to the ends of the earth she was sure, and she often used it to find where he had gotten to.

This time his scent would lead her to a gathering and she would shyly come up beside him and lean against his side. She smiled at her Altavro and bent near his head. ?Would you teach me in healing, sweet Avro?? she asked him softly.

OOC: Does another week sound good? If everyone replies before then, I'll keep moving, but if not you all have until THURS SEPT 6th :D Thanks guys! Let's get this hunt going!

Dayton looked at his volunteers in turn, giving each of them a grateful smile. Orchid had offered to lead the hunt with him, something he hadn't really expected from the maiden. She was a healer, that much he knew, and her stature was nothing to brag about. But then again, neither was his. Taking down an animal didn't always require brute force. If you were smart and struck at the right time and place, you could bring down anything. So the brute addressed his hunting partner, saying "Thank you, miss Orchid. I'll wish you luck in advance." He was almost tempted to return her wink, as for him such gestures meant nothing more than friendship. But the other wolves gathered there could have misinterpreted such a thing, and so he held it back, settling only on a welcoming grin.

The dark woman, Devya, would then step forward and offer to scout ahead. She was joined by Twig. Both women seemed very capable, so Dayton nodded them forward. "Whenever you're ready. I'm sure you both know what to do. Find a nearby herd and report back as soon as you can," he said. "And good luck."

As the two would then disembark, three late arrivals stumbled upon the scene. Dayton looked at them with surprise, listening kindly as the first two voiced their apologies. The third seemed a bit distracted, but the russet man still was not bothered. Dayton was not the type to withhold mercy or be cruel to a penitent being, so he smiled to all of them and gave a short pause in case Crucifix had anything to say to his members. These were wolves Dayton had never met before. "As long as you all make it your goal to arrive on time in the future?" he gave them each a bow before going on. "Then you are welcome to join us. I will be giving directions now, so please listen closely."

After addressing the tardy group, he turned to the crowd and raised his voice a bit to be heard. He would not be angry at the late arrivals. At least they had arrived. Their strength would be in numbers, so Dayton was grateful for the presence of every wolf here. "We will now wait for Devya and Twig to return with their report," he announced. "But meanwhile, I will give you a breakdown of our hunting plan. There are nine in our hunting party if we include the two women who scouted ahead. Orchid and I will be making the final kill, but that leaves seven of you to help us single out our prey. The plan will be to divide and conquer," Dayton told them, flashing a grin as he explained that several of the wolves would need to cut their chosen prey from the rest of the herd. "Our scouts will hopefully decide which deer we will target. Then some of you will help to separate it. Any volunteers? Those who do not choose a responsibility will be in charge of defending our other hunters. Do we have any takers?"

After everyone knew what they would be doing, the action would begin.

Walk."Talk."Think.
