The femme let out the breath she was holding, yellow eyes closing as she inhaled again. She felt... well, undeniably guilty, for one. She also felt nervous. It was a strange emotion, nervousness, one Mira rarely experienced. When she approached her father, she always felt confident - or afraid. And haughty to anyone else in that pack. Here she was confident, usually, when approaching someone. But not now. The wolf shifted again, sitting with her back to the bark of her den. It really didn't make sense, and nonsensical things just made her feel as conflicted and confused as can be. Nothing she thought of could sway the feeling, though; half the stuff brought on a burst of anxiety that made her feeling worse.

She knew why she was nervous, of course. It was because she was going to approach Bass with an apology for neglecting herself, her pack, and her duties to the pack. But how was he going to react? She couldn't go off her interactions with her father; her father always favoritted her, and she rarely failed him. When she did, she knew what was in store. She knew exactly what would happen. Now, she had no idea at all what was going to happen. and she was absolutely terrified.

Mirabelle stood, shaking out her fur. Bass' den wasn't far from hers. A few minutes, if that, to get there. That was all. She took a few steps forward, steeling her nerves and trying to calm herself. It failed. But she had to go. Resolve hardened her heart and she began to lope towards the rocky crevice Bass called his den. As she neared she slowed, her mind running over several ways to say what she wanted to say. She discarded idea after idea, and eventually she just didn't know. Luckily, or perhaps unluckily, she was at the den and she didn't have time to think anymore. "Bass?" she called out tentatively, shifting on her paws. Oh, it would be wonderful if he wasn't there, so she would have an excuse. Sadly, she knew he was.

When his name was called he did not hear, he was currently underwater, swimming after a fish that had escaped from his jaws. When his head broke the surface of the lake, he saw the brown woman looking into his den. Had she come here to finally talk to him? Climbing up the bank, he dragged his soaking wet body up onto dry land, standing beside Mirabelle with water dripping off his coat. He rose his brow to her, silently questioning her motive. He had a lot of faith in her, and then she had just upped and left. He didn't know how to feel about that, about her being able to walk away from Abaven so easily.

Bass moved from beside her and hoped up on his rock den, his wet paws nearly slipping on the flat surface. He shook, then turned to face her. "What happened to you?" He asked, his voice flat. He was trying to keep his emotions out of his vocals. He was upset, and hurt. She just went off without a word, not even a word to him. How? Why? What could possibly make her want to leave his side? Was he not a good enough alpha? Did he not assure her enough that he was good enough to lead her and all of Abaven? Where did he go wrong?

Well. Maybe she was wrong; he wasn't in his den. Her body sagged in a mixture of disappointment and relief. She could approach another day. She didn't have to do it now. Never mind the fact she didn't know if she would even have the courage to approach another day. Closing her eyes for a brief moment to calm her nerves, she turned to go when a strong and very familiar scent made her jump and spin around.

Mira stood silently for a moment, barely resisting the urge to gape as she blinked at her alpha. Okay, maybe she was wrong about being wrong. Or would that be twice wrong since the alpha wasn't in his den. Or would it be one wrong and one right? Blinking again, she shook her head to clear it. Now wasn't the time to question what was right and wrong... at least, not about something so trivial. Her yellow eyes darted back to Bass, for they had drifted away from him while she thought. Then her gaze dropped; she was not able to look him in the eye. she heard him move, wet paws slapping on the stone. His voice reached her ears, and his words made her wince, ashamed. and fearful, because of the flat voice. She thought he was angry - very very angry, since his voice was devoid of all emotion.

"I..." she began to speak, before trailing off. Her voice was incredibly soft, so quiet and holding a tone of insecurity. she didn't know what to say, how to explain, really. She had a reason; or rather, an excuse. Not a good one though. So she started with the basics. Her base purpose for approaching him today. Which was originally to give her excuse, but as she faced the bigger male she found it was really a different reason all together; to apologize. "I...came to say I'm sorry," she finally managed, staring at the ground with her tail low and ears slightly flattened with shame. She almost winced at herself; how pitiful she sounded! Her words themselves were also completely a joke - she disappears for a long time, and all she offers is an apology? She felt dirty, disgusting, but she didn't know what else she could say. A whimper threatened to sound from her throat but she held it down, instead waiting anxiously for Bass's response.

He knew that she was conflicted on her feelings, but so was he. He wasn't angry as she thought though, no, his thoughts rested more in pain. She uttered that she was sorry, ignoring the question that he had asked. Still his face remained stony, he didn't dare allow her to see just how much this hurt him. "I asked what happened to you." He repeated, his voice cracking somewhat. Did she know how worried he had been about her? How afraid he was that she had just up and left? His tail swung behind him a few times, refusing to move from on top of the rock that held him above her. "I was worried sick Mirabelle. I was afraid that you just upped and left, that you just abandoned your pack and your family." This time his words were firm, there was no quavering in his vocals.

Letting out a soft sigh, Bass shook his head to and fro as he let his mask slip off, his golden eyes shining with all the emotions that he held towards this situation. "It pains me that you were able to just get up and walk away from me. I thought Abaven meant something more to you." Yes, his words were harsh. But he wasn't going to sugar coat this, he would not allow a members to simply walk away and leave time and time again. His ranks were meant for strong wolves, for ones who cared about everyone within the pack and defend them with their lives. He had thought that Mira knew it, and he was uncomfortable with the fact that she had made him think otherwise. He could not allow room for regret with his pack, and he hoped that she didn't either.

She wasn't able to hide the flinch, or the incredably soft whine. She didn't lift her gaze, but her jaw opened slightly, as if she were going to say something... but then it closed. Her eyes filled with tears, unshed. How would she... how could she explain? Her actions, her fears. She flinched again when Bass spoke again, voice strong this time. She... had worried him? He considered her family? the pack did? The wolf swallowed, head lowering more towards the ground. She had to say something

WIP post had to go >_>
