OOC// No Ivalice wolves please!

She'd been somewhat frequenting this area more often. She liked the trees here, the atmosphere and the fact that it wasn't pack lands. It was a free land, belonging to anyone who wished to wander through. She kept alert, however, just in case someone sought to ambush her. While there were characters out there that might do such a thing, she didn't expect the neighboring pack to do it. But still, while Katja might not, there could always be that one rogue member. Shaking her head of the thought, she figured she was just being silly and over thinking with all the stress that she'd been feeling lately. On top of that, there was still the matter of dealing with the allegations against Vereux. If only she had questioned and found the full truth out sooner, she probably could have avoided all of this.

It was early, the alphess having left the den before her children woke up. Padding through the snow, she took up her usual perch on the low branch that she came to adore. Above her, the branches rustled with the wrestling of squirrels and the chattering of birds. Looking up, she could see the rodents leaping from branch to branch, their chattering growing louder. It seemed that maybe she wouldn't get any peace here either...all of a sudden, she felt something on her back, sharp little claws racing down her spine which caused her to jump with surprise. She whipped her head around, teeth snapping at the three squirrels who decided they wanted to use her as a playground. She twisted her head back and forth trying to shake them off, but all they did was cackle and dodge her attempts as they leaped from tree trunk, to branch, then right on to her back again. She was not expecting this, and it was beginning to get on her nerves! Little did she know she was being watched with amusement from the trees.

With slow, heavy steps Laufey made his way through the forest. It was clear from his lackadaisical pace that he had nowhere to be and no destination in mind. Really, he was walking just to walk. Since recovering from the illness that had restricted him to his den for weeks, the marauder had been working to recover the strength and stamina he'd lost. He was doing well, but now more than ever did he appreciate the strength of his youth. He wasn't a yearling any longer and it showed; he wasn't springing back nearly as quickly as he'd done when he was a pup and the plague had sickened him.

A curious skittering sound in the distance gave the giant pause. He slowly ground to a halt and tipped his head to the side as he listened. After several moments of listening he was still no closer to guessing at the sound's origin, so he decided to investigate.

The brute changed course and set out in search of the sound. In no time at all he came up the scene...and instead of being enlightened, found himself more confused. It appeared as if the woman was playing with a group of squirrels. His head canted to the side as he considered the spectacle before him. She appeared to be genuinely aggravated with the tree rats, but attempt after attempt was met with failure. His thoughts drifted to the play fights he'd gotten into with his son. Both parties put on a show of ferocity, but neither meant it in this case. Since the woman was having no success Lafey could only assume that what he was seeing was indeed play. "My mother always told me not to play with my food," he drawled lazily.

This character is prone to acts of EXTREME violence when provoked. If this makes you uncomfortable do not thread with him.
