After she had tasted the faded and abandoned borders of her pack, Katja had made no more effort to track down her family. She didn't know what had happened to Yfir after she left, what had happened to her cousin or his nephew, or her children, but they had clearly left the lands she had claimed. She had unfinished business in the north, and in some ways it was a relief to not be concerned about whether it would drag her pack into a war - since the pack did not as such exist. The fabricated emergency that had called her back to the Finnvi homeland had kept her from her duty far too long. Inadvertently she had given Vereux a reprieve from justice, had given Avalon far more time than intended to decide to stand aside... or not.

Her wounds had healed, and a some judicious hunting had put enough calories into her system to replenish her stores of energy if not restore her weight. She still resembled the keen edge of a blade more than anything, all sharp edges and cold steel, a feral god-touched phantom with an intensity of purpose that she carried with each long stride through silvery light of a late summer moon.

It was directly through Yfir's former lands and against the border of Ivalice that her steps directed her. Her paws rested upon the scent markers of the pack, and she lifted her deaths head-marked face to the moon in a feral call for a single wolf, a demand that he face the justice his cowardice had brought upon him.

He would not fear. The sick man was well aware of what was to come. He nuzzled charm and even okami in their sleep should they be there Afrit and Enlil. The last time he would see them for certain. In a vision sense at least, as his ears flicked and he pulled himself in pain towards the borders. He didn't want a wolf of ivalice to defend him. This wasn't their duty to protect a foolish man and his foolish choices. As such he didn't give a sense of fear to Katja he just stood in front of her.

“I'm ready for retribution Katja.” His ear flicked. He had an idea that she was going to take his eye. Vereux wouldn't divulge that he was sick, that was something private. “Take what belongs to you my eye in which granted foolish things. Lies and betrayal. The gods will do the rest Katja, just don't take my life that is all I ask.” Vereux stood there and he prepared himself. His last emerald eye giving a very serious stare.

Naudir had remained in the north, wandering through and around her old packlands aimlessly and still in disbelief at how yfir had disbanded. She'd lost touch with her siblings and the members of the pack and she wished more than ever that her mother would return and set things right. The girl wasn't sure what to do with herself and thus far it seemed that the gods were intent on remaining silent as if they were telling her that she needed to figure this out herself. She'd toyed with the idea of joining another pack but none of them would ever feel like home. They lacked her beliefs, they lacked her culture, she would always be a stranger among the other wolves of this land. Naudir wondered if the gods were being as silent to her sister Runa.

Wrapping her growing frame around a young sapling she sighed heavily before a call rang out. Immediately she was alert. The call sounded from near the Sparse Pines and could only be the call of her mother. Naudir sprang to motion, leaping through the terrain until she finally saw her mother in the distance. "Mother! I'm so glad you've returned!" She slowed to a stop, reaching out to nuzzle her mother even though she knew the seriousness of the call. That's right… Katja had to leave so suddenly that she had not finished maiming the traitor.

Soon he would arrive and she was pleased that he was finally willing to face his punishment. Perhaps her mother could deal quickly with this fool and they could get down to the business of what to do about their scattered family and the silent echoes of Yfir that still clung to the north.
