Some days he needs to get out. He's like one of those butterflies that you see out in the summer all the time, here and there. Neither here or there? He is both. Poser is both and more than happy to be all at once. He is him and he is so many other things. He sits at the head of a table sat by the most fantastic and most lovely creatures. The YGC was starting to fill out, and he had time still. He had all the time in the world, because legends never die. He'd be a living legend in this place. More than happy to move overland and search for those that could join them at their table. He would do it. The shadow was ready.

More than ready. Everything inside him has welled up and come to... whatever he was feeling right now. Whatever it was, it happened to be correct. He was happy. He was free. Fast as well, until he reaches the Briar. Gambit Briar. He's never seen such a place, but there had to be herbs here. Poser would look, and he was more than happy to find whatever this place had to show him. What an adventure it would be. What adventures he had, even if he was alone. Poser looked forward to the days he didn't have to be alone anymore. With bright eyes and a high step, he finds his way through the golden hour in the Briar.

Wasn't it lovely?

navigation - gambit briar

Ok, so this was not one of her better ideas…  Rœkia maneuvered herself carefully through the briar, her keen garnet eyes searching for any sign of Khat.  The autumn was warmer down here and she wanted to finish stocking up her makeshift den before winter settled in and her movement and travel became more limited.  Of course if she had any sense at all she'd move everything south anyway and not have to worry about snow.  Rœkia sighed, her gaze drifting to Wolf as he flew above her.  It wasn't a bad idea and there was still time….. but she'd best not get distracted.  With the tangle of flora all around here spotting a Khat bush was going to be difficult and she hoped her nose would make up for any failings of her eyes.

Wolf flew down and landed on a scraggly branch near her head and her ears titled back.  "Find anything?"  The magpie shook his head. "Nothing yet, but I'll keep searching."  He took off again and she continued to make her way through the briar.  Pushing boldly ahead.  She paused suddenly when she noticed a…. well, what the hell was she looking at here?  She gazed at the painfully scrawny, jet black canine-like thing.  Well, he didn't look like any wolf she'd ever seen, nor a jackal, coyote or fox.  He had several scars and she wondered if he was a warrior.  Rœkia was not.  Oh she could fight like hell itself if it came down to that but she preferred to avoid fighting where possible.  She tended to deal with such matters in a more… subtle manner.

Shifting the leather pack on her back her she rolled her shoulders forward as she gazed at the man.  "You look half-starved stranger.  If you're looking for prey you've come to the wrong place."  Birds and the small game here were extremely difficult to catch in the thickness of the briar.  He'd have better luck in one of the open territories.  Not that she particularly cared but if he was really hungry she had a wonderful selection of plants for him to choose from.  Grinning toothily she took a few steps forward.

There was always a gnawing hunger deep in the pit of his chest. It was always there. It was always there for him to deal with, always there for him to fight with. Something in his soul was screaming, and it as always screaming. He screamed. He called out into the dark when he slept. Slept alone. Slept alone like a shadow in the darkness, no one to notice where he ended and the world began. There was something that he couldn't wrap his mind around that was absolutely and literally destroying him. Poser doesn't eat. He doesn't dare eat. Not when he'd just toss it back up anyway. The shadow king wanders on.

There's a voice, one that calls out through the briar. Kind, polite even. Stranger. The young god smirks, tossing his head softly. Graceful as ever, he leaps a patch of brambles in a single bound. More graceful than any wolf you'd ever seen, seeming to cut through the air with the greatest of ease. It's all so easy for Poser, coming to rest at a polite distance. High head, high born. Graceful shoulders and a gentle suppleness of his knees. Soft. Soft but strong. Sharp angles, soft eyes. Such is typical for a young man such as he. Handsome as ever, Poser grins.

"Only my soul, really." A wolfish grin. "The skinny is in my breeding I'm afraid," a springy step forward, a slight toss of his head as he grins. "Poser, so I don't have to be a stranger anymore." A soft introduction, a spark in his brilliant eyes. The shadow holds an electricity that can't be matched.

Wolf shifted and glided to land on a branch just about her head, his little glossy cranium turning sharply in the manner of birds as he analyzed the stranger. Rœkia paid her companion no heed and instead focused on the strange man. He mentioned his soul and Rœkia laughed. "Well, I'm afraid I can't help you there. I'm no holy woman." She'd never really given much thought to spirits or the afterlife or any sort of beliefs really. He stated that the skinny was in his breeding. This didn't mean to much to her, she knew breeding was how one had pups but she was uncertain how skinny figured into that. Perhaps he meant his species. "And what pray tell is your breeding? What exactly are you? I've never seen a canine that looks like you before, well… one that wasn't terribly sick." Of course now that she was closer she could see the man was quite healthy, good coat, good eyes, not the starving drooling sods she occasionally ran across.

"My name is Skjæra, and this is my companion Bear," she stated gesturing to the magpie. She grinned softly to herself, it had been such a long time since they'd use this combo. Ahhh memories. She'd always loved the name Skjæra, it may have even been the name her mother had intended for her before Aerndís took her and christened her Rœkia.

The shadow burns brightly some days. Today is one of them. He is bright and hot in the low light of autumn, though he longs to have a home. He longs to have his home, filled with his people. His family. Family, you see, would keep him whole. That's the issue when you're about as stable as weapons grade plutonium. Maybe they'd even call him the mad king. He would like that a little too much. Still, the stranger is beautiful in these moments. Beautiful and bright and fantastic. He shines. He shines so beautifully.

"Some of us are gods in our own light, come on," He grins, wolfish despite not... y'know... being a wolf. Tail wagging, head high. The shadow loves moments like this, and he's ever so shiny. It fills him up and makes him feel alive. Yes. Alive. Finally alive, it's only taken what feels like an age.

Oh yes, the tail is wagging the dog. "I'm Rússkaya psovaya borzaya, a young god. A borzoi, if you'd rather." He's happy. He's so happy, the words in Russian rolling off his tongue. It feels so good to be able to interact and be... soft? Was that what this was? Softness? Not weakness, but friendly and bright. Brilliant and soft. All of those things at the same time. "I can get sick, but I feel pretty good today. How about you?" Friendly.

"Name's Poser." The man stares openly and curiously at the magpie. Softly, he chuckles. "Doesn't look much like any bear I've seen," Brilliant eyes. Blue eyes. Shining where he stands. Today, Poser is happy.

ooc: sorry for the wait!

Rœkia rolled her shoulders lazily forward and back as her magpie companion settled between them. She resisted the urge to giggle at the sensation. It tickled but she didn't want to let that show in front of the new stranger. Grinning she tilted her head to the side as she eyed the man. Did he think himself a god? She chuckled and winked at him. "Well, you might be on to something there." He went on to explain that he was…. she lost the words but managed to grab ahold of 'borzoi'. A 'borzoi'? How interesting, she'd certainly never heard of such a thing but as for a young god?

He introduced himself as Poser and commented lightly on her companion. Rœkia grinned mischievously and fell into character, playing off his words and adding her own. "In a world of gods and demons surely a shapeshifter is no surprise to you? Bear was once a bear but I'm afraid he fell in with a rather…. nasty group of sorcerors and was cursed into a magpie's form. We hope to find a cure soon." Rœkia felt her heart and her spirit lift as the words exited her mouth. She loved spinning characters and stories and it had been awhile since she'd spun anything like this. She found the man very intriguing and while she didn't want to shatter the threads she'd started to weave she did want a glimpse at what made the man tick.

"Pray tell, Poser, what is it that makes you think yourself a god? Surely, you wouldn't be wondering down here with the dregs of mortal society if that were true? Or have you some greater plan for gracing the earth with your steps?"

There's something burning, shining, right inside him. It flickers behind his eyes, the glimmering making him feel... alive. He's always so alive, you see. A burning in the sapphires set deep in his skull as they look gently to the woman. She winks, and he winks back. She's smart. Poser would do well to keep her close. He's shining where he stands.

"Ah you'd do best to let me know, but it's best I not be going around blinding mortals. That's rather impolite." He winks back to the girl, head tossing as he looks at the magpie. What a pretty bird he really was. Poser has always rather enjoyed magpies, but maybe it's because he identifies with their propensity for shiny things. Fair, of course. His tail wags.

"There's far less rules down here. I'm looking to gather a group, a club you may say, and bring them home with me eventually. The old gods are trite, contemptuous, and boring. I need more fun in my life." He's grinning, wolfishly even. Tail wagging, head high, brilliant. That's all he wants. Poser aims to dazzle, as always.

Despite herself, Rœkia found herself enjoying this conversation. The man had wit and that was a resource in short supply these days. She chuckled at Poser's comments on blinding mortals and nodded. That would not be polite at all! She felt Wolf hop up her neck, settling in the slight curvature where her skull met her neck. She knew he was curious about this stranger, climbing her to get a better look at the borzoi. Wolf had always been a bit quiet for his kind.

Rœkia's head tilted elegantly to the side at the mention of his group. A club of sorts. Well, well, wasn't he full of interesting ideas but she still could not discern if the man's words lay closer to truth or delusion. Not that she really needed the distinction. Rœkia was a free spirit and the only thing she was really looking for was a good time, traditional packs made her cautious. "Well, you've got one thing right there are certainly fewer rules for those of us that choose to walk alone but it does get rather… boring. Tell me more of your club, and what exactly is 'home'?" She could agree about the old gods, she'd never been much into any sort of religious belief.

He can't help but watch the bird. Watch it, curious as ever. Always wanting to know more things, to reach out and feel them as they thought. He thinks. He thinks and watches it, this bear trapped... as a... right. Poser would believe it, for now, for there were far stranger things he'd encountered. Cool bird, anyway. They were usually far more noisy, but maybe this one was shy around strangers. Not like Poser could blame him.

Free spirited, wild, something else entirely. Poser is all of those things, and he knows where that comes from. He knows far too well what that feels like. Too high strung for his own good, yet that made it even better. There's some strength there, something resting in his system. That grin doesn't waver, watching the woman where he stands. "There's a castle on the lower continent, one that I've decided to take up as my home base. It's been taken from me, as I was alone I couldn't hold it... culture of these lands is fucking strange, you know that?" He was still seething at the bastard that had walked in and taken it over, but that wasn't the point. The point? Poser would have it back. "Anyway, if not there, then somewhere else. We can gather, we can hold our court. It'll be grand." Ah yes. Grand as always.

He may not be so delusional after all.
