She couldn't say she'd ever been in this kind of pain before. Silently in her den she really didn't want any help with this. Contractions were a bitch to simply put it though. Of course she raised her head to howl for Aki. These were his kids or.... his kid from how she had been observing her pregnancy. He was welcome and she herself was still determined to go through what she needed. Panting it didn't take very long or much effort.

Soon there was a small pup, Renhett instinctively cleaned and already pressed them up to her stomach. Smiling a bit weakly as she turned to look to Aki."What are you naming them?" she asked a little loss for breath. She felt no attachment to the child - sure it was cute in a sense. However it was more of like a love for a niece or nephew. What she felt was pure joy that she had helped Aki in his growing age.

This day had come far more quickly than he ever imagined. He'd linger uncomfortably close to Abaven's lands, growing steadily closer as Renhett's due date also approached. Though not loving his vicinity to the pack, nobody seemed to bother him - a fact he was grateful for. Realistically though, he hadn't really been close enough to bother anyone. He wondered if, like Bass said, he'd stick out during his stay here.

Renhett's call came suddenly, surprising him despite the fact that he'd been waiting for this day for weeks now. Without hesitating, he'd answer to her and head toward the source of the sound. Crossing such a pack border seemed bizarre to him, even though Bass had given him permission, and he couldn't help but feel uncomfortable with each step he took - quite a strange feeling for the oversized brute.

It didn't take long for him to navigate to the den where she lay, panting as contractions wracked her body. While she had called him here, she seemed to be handling everything fine on her own.. well, as fine as such a thing could go. Quiet and not wanting to intrude, he'd wait at the den's entrance until her breathing eventually slowed, and narrowed eyes would peer into the darkness.

He expected there to be more. At least two, or maybe three or four. But there was only one. Though not disappointed, he was initially stunned. Taking a few wary steps into the den, he'd examine the boy, though it was hard to get a good look at him. He was a characteristically big pup, no doubt of the Jarvela blood, with a grey pelt and reddish markings. He grinned so wide he swore his face might hurt later, his heart swelling with pure love.  "His name is Kai," he answered quickly, instinctively, as he moved to touch the boy gently with his nose.  "Thank you, Renhett." It was a selfless thing to do, he knew that; and it was hard to really say just how much he appreciated what she had done. He retracted, certain that her motherly instincts would kick in and that hovering over her wouldn't do much good other than get in the way.

It wasn't hard for her to open up to Aki. For her, it was something that came naturally perhaps. A smile on her face as she looked at the pup for a moment. So, she had made something like this and his name was Kai. Her heart was torn a little, but there was no helping that. She had done her task and for the next few weeks she'd be taking care of the boy anyway. Looking a lot like his dad helped, as her red eyes looked towards Aki when he pulled away and apologized to her. She felt her heart warm.

"Kai is a strong name." she chuckled light heartedly. "It's not a problem Aki, I'm happy I did this. As odd as it may seem for feel, it just seems.... right." Renhett couldn't place in words how it actually felt. After all her feelings were mixed with the tiredness that was over her.

Not only had he made a child, in all of this, but he'd also made a friend. A lifelong one, he thought. When the boy was old enough to leave with him, he would tell him about his mother - and he would have the choice to do with that information as he would. Aki didn't believe in forcing anyone to do anything, even his son, once he was old enough to make his own choices.

He couldn't help but grin as Renhett spoke, beyond grateful for her. He wasn't a particularly selfless man - and he wasn't used to feeling such gratitude toward another. But he knew this was the only way. "It does feel right," he agreed simply, his voice soft. His gaze continued to rove over the boy. He looked healthy and well. He lacked Aki's own tusks, which didn't come as much of a surprise, but he looked quite similar to him - with a touch of white, perhaps inherited from Renhett herself. "I'll let you rest now. Get some sleep, I'll watch over you two." For.. whatever they needed. Happy, he slid toward the den's entrance, knowing Renhett likely wanted space to nurse and to sleep; he'd been there when she woke, to meet his son more fully and provide whatever the two of them needed. Birth was exhausting, he was sure. She'd probably be hungry when she woke up. For now, he'd shuffle down to his belly and let his head rest on his paws as he peered into the packlands with a content grin etched on his face.
