Curiosity drove Valdís into the depths of the earth where a wolf really didn't belong. With every step she took the air continued to grow hotter and hotter until she emerged into a room, eyes squinting at the brightness of a river of flame. It glowed bright and hot, cutting through the solid and for a moment Valdís thought she was dreaming. Did such a place really exist? She took a few tentative steps toward the river, remember her mothers stories about dark spirits and wondering if perhaps she'd stumbled into some such place. Valdís tensed and looked about herself before gazing back at the river. It was so bright it was almost hard to look at… and boy was it hot. She backed away, pressing her back into the stone behind her but it offered little relief from the heat. However, the feeling wasn't entirely unpleasant, the warm stone seemed to fit into her back, transferring heat into muscles sore from a long walk north. Ahhhh….
