The pups were already old enough to start to wander out of the den, and Bass couldn't believe it. He had been keeping an eye on them for awhile now, just like he said he would. He had no intentions of going back on his word, the alpha would do all that he could to assist the woman. He knew what it was like to raise children alone, he hadn't had much help at all with his second litter. Piper was fine, it was Merlin that left him breathless most of the time. Always running from one place to the next, constantly bringing him things; dead or alive. Half dead rabbit that kicked him in the face or long dead animals. Those were the worst, the scent had clung to him for weeks sometimes. Honestly after him, he could handle anything any puppy wanted to toss at him. With a chuckle he paused at the den, tossing the two doves he had caught at the mouth of the den. That's when he realized that it was quiet, and a little too quiet. His ears twisted on the top of his head as he glanced around, but he couldn't see or hear anyone. Humming to himself, he sniffed around the base of the den. Had Storm taken them out already? Or maybe they were hiding on him.

Bass had brought them dead things! Dead things, of course, were always welcome in Derecho's eyes. Dead things mean food. Dead things that had recently been living things, of course. She could smell them, and she could smell Bass. Not like the creature had been far away at the time of the alpha's appearance, but it was so exciting to have him appear.

The rolling thunder bounds forth from the corner she'd been stashed behind, playing with a frog. She'd been chasing, tripping around after it, giggling. A tornado as she rips across the ground, a hurricane. Odd on the inside, a cloudy day on the outside. Derecho pounces toward Bass, barking as she does. Barking and carrying on, tail wagging, bouncing on her light little feet. Not that she knows what to say to the alpha, so... barking would do. Barking would totally do for her. It's a decent way of expressing herself, and she was going to go with that for now.

She was full of energy, so full she felt like she didn't know what to do. This was their first adventure, mum was taking them for a short walk. Though she wanted to explore she stuck close by to her mother, close enough that she could see her at all times. She didn't know about the others, but mom wanted them all to stick close. Derecho though she hit the ground running and seemed to be out in front of the group. Hopping along the young female took in as much as she could see with her gold eyes full of questions of everything that she saw. She wanted to bug, but somehow the young girl kept getting distracted each time she thought of asking one. There was so much to see and things to chase that she was a little overwhelmed.

They were on their way back to the den, from their short walk her eyes shifting to each family member as she moved, doing her best to stick close by. She soon saw Derecho dart further ahead and Corentine jumped up in the air to see where her sister was going. That was when she spotted the familiar white form. The male her mom referred to as Bass, the same male who had been bringing them food since they were weaned. Without a second thought she darted forward, her little paws beating against the dry ground. She slowed herself when she got close enough and watched her sister barking at Bass. Cocking her head to the left she wondered what in the world Echo was trying to accomplish.

Prancing forward she walked over to the doves and flopped back onto her rump looking from the birds to Bass, then to Echo. She had never spoken to this male before, but she was curious about him. Pinning her ears she looked back to Echo wishing she would stop her barking.

"Echo, top that pwese," she pipped up.

She had been getting stiff again, stuck in the den with the growing pups. She hadn't expected such a number and was beginning to think she should have made her den a lot bigger. Paired with her age the blind healer was getting rather stiff and uncomfortable that past couple of days. The only times she could leave the den was when the pups were asleep, but today she couldn't wait any longer. So the first time mother grew brave and had told them all they were going for a small walk and that they were to stay close by. With that she had led the way from the den and lead the pups on their walk.

Though blind she was still on high alert, ears flickering about so that she could keep track on each pup. If when got to far she would call them back, if any animal appeared she would let out a bark to spook them off. She was calm, yet protective over her children and honestly the women couldn't be any happier. Sure she had never envisioned herself having children without a mate, but she had help from her friend and her alpha. Bass had kept his promise and she was extremely grateful to him.

She didn't lead them far, enough for her to get her muscles stretched and warmed. Turning back she lead the pups back, once again keeping her ears moving to monitor where each pup was. She heard them bounding around and could feel their excited energy. She would lead them back and settle down by the den and let them play close by. What she hadn't expected was for Bass to show up this soon, but when she heard Derecho barking and Bass' scent floated to her on the light breeze, she knew he was at the den.

"Come now kids looks like Bass has brought us some lunch," she called softly to the other children before picking up her pace to reach the den in quick timing.

Her tail wagged in greeting as she approached, leaning down to nudge Derecho lightly, then Corentine.

"Go eat girls then you can play some more," she said before looking to Bass with a smile while taking a seat. "How are you doing today Bass?"

She was wide awake. A scent wafted towards her nose and caused her chestnut eyes to widen and her stomach to growl. Food. Even at this age it was a primal instinct; she was edging away from the warm comfort of her mother's milk to something less clean. Something bloody, deceased, nutritious. Somewhere in the background she heard the cacophonous sound of barking, the sound seeping into her mind. There were so many distractions! She rushed to find the sound of the barker; the high-pitched squeak of her sister. Derecho. She was streaked in gray like their mother, with piercing silver-blue eyes. She felt a pique of curiosity and envy for Derecho who had already made her way outside. She bounded out after her, shouting, "Heeeelllo!" She leaped forward and tripped over her large, ebon paws, tumbling right next to her sister.

There was a calmer presence near the two of them. She blinked, seeing Corentine there, calmly poised aside the doves. "Oh," she breathed, attempting to rub against Corentine in greeting, her little tail wagging. "What are you doing?!" She seemed so still... So thoughtful. She could only wonder what went through her mind. Corentine was a splash of light compared to her; highlighted with white-silver.

She blinked up at her mother's soothing voice. "Mama," she greeted, her eyes hopeful and full of joy. Her mama walked a little slower, but why she didn't know. She was kind of like Corentine, Aella supposed. She stared longingly at the doves; preparing to dive in... Bass has brought us some lunch. Her ears perked and she spun to see the elegant man draped in white. "Who are you?" She demanded, innocent eyes blazing with curiosity and indignant.

It went from silent to noisy in about two point five seconds. Echo came running towards him full of barks, making him perk up and look towards the girl. He chuckled as he took a seat, watching her bounce with seemingly endless energy. He was jealous of that, there had been a time when he had been that full of live, but most of it had been sucked away. Helping Storm look after the pups had been a handful, but he wasn't expecting them all to come at him like this. Well, he should have if he had a brain. They had been pretty little when he came to check in on them, so of course they wouldn't actually remember his face. His scent, most likely. It was hard to miss when it was draped all around their den. Bass hoped that it made them a bit softer towards him, but he couldn't be certain. In time they would come to know him better, after all this was their first formal introduction. He decided then to pretend to not know their names, they could work on talking to strangers with him.

He eyes Corentine as she came in, much softer than her sister who was still barking at him. He beamed down at the two of them, lifting his paw to playfully swat at Echo's ear. It was hard to get a word in edge wise with her, but that was okay. "Settle down little one," he spoke in a calm manner, but loud enough to be heard over her excitement. Storm followed them and he gazed fondly at the woman, she was doing a wonderful job thus far. She certainly had her paws full, and Bass was glad that he could be here to help her out. The woman sat down and he nuzzled her shoulder in greeting, looking over as one of the children came out of the den. "Well enough. I hope these doves are okay for the girls, I can come back with better meat later," he offered, his brown marked head swinging over to look at the blind wolf. "How was your little outing? Perhaps I can take the girls and teach them about the snakes today, with spring here they will start to show up more and more." It had been one of the dangers of picking this land as their home, the young ones needed to learn which snakes were harmful and which they could bat around. If they were going to be out and about now, they needed to know the difference. With Storm not being able to actually see them to give them a good picture, he wanted to make sure that the girls knew what was safe.

When Aella turned towards him to ask who he was, he turned his attention towards them once more. "I'm Bass Destruction, the Primo of this pack. But you can just call me Bass," He said with a chuckle, leaning down to bump his mighty nose against her smaller one gently. "And what of you? What are your names?" He let out a small laugh for Storm to hear, winking at Echo. She seemed to be the one who remembered him the most, but he wouldn't push in on the other two.

He'd hung back. Far back when his mother and the others rushed to greet the male in front of their den. Cloud wasn't sure what to make of it, but he wasn't feeling entirely social. Wary was probably the term for what he was feeling, though he wasn't quite sure. His sisters had all gone and did a full on approach, especially Echo. But him? It was like an invisible rope had to practically drag him closer. bi-colored eyes watched the man warily, his gaze never leaving him even with all the distractions going on. His ears flattened a bit as Echo barked her head off, his lip sort of lifting with annoyance. Why did she have to be so loud? He didn't get it. He was the quietest of them all. He didn't really feel the need to go and bark his head off, at least, not in public. When it was just him and his mother, he was a lot more outgoing, playful, and just a happy kid in general. But this? He could feel some weird feeling creeping in. And it seemed to happen when he was around or near large groups.

His mother said that Bass had brought them lunch, so ever so slowly he approached in silence until he was practically glued to his mother's leg. He didn't break his gaze away from Bass until he saw the doves on the ground, but even then he made no motion towards them. He mentioned taking his sisters to go see the snakes. Good. That meant he could be alone with his mother. Unless...he had to go too? He wasn't entirely keen on the idea...he would much rather stick around his mom and play with her. When Bass asked their names, Cloud looked back at him but remained quiet. Why couldn't he just say a simple answer? Hi, my name's Cloudburst. Nice to meet you! Is what played in his head, but the words just would not leave his mouth.

Derecho likes to bark. There's something so joyful at the simple act of making noise, and it's hard to hold her back from it. She burns brightly in the summer sun, tail thrashing, head high. With her sister's words, Echo's ears flatten to her skull, scowling. "Or nah." The barks continue until the adults step in, asking her to settle... fun haters. Still, with Bass's swat, Derecho rears up on her back legs and lets one of her paws try and collide back.

She catches the glint of Cloudburst's teeth, and Echo's hackles go up. Her eyes narrowed, a low growl in her chest. "Fun sucker." It's a glare, if looks could kill her brother would have dropped dead on the spot. Things like this, of course, are typical of the girl. Maybe it's a petty streak set out to do her well. Still, it passes quickly, as Bass has more to say to them. Bass Destruction-- Destruction and Wreckage, with surnames like that, it had to be good. Derecho's tail wags furiously, her irritation from moments earlier already passed. Moods were fickle at this age. They would continue to be.

From the more adult side of the conversation, Derecho catches one word. It leaves her eyes wide and her tail wagging, electric. "SNAKES!" What even was a snake? Who knew. It sounded like fun. Fun, of course, was the goal. She was down with that. She was cool with snakes, with fun, and with exploring. Bass would take them for fun, and that's what matters.

"'m Derecho," the words tumbled out, bubbling forth. It's almost like she's never met a stranger, this one. Today her tail wags and her eyes are bright, something burning. The rolling thunder is a volatile beast, but for now, she is sated. Attention does her fairly well, honestly.

Tyranis

He shuffled past Cloud on his approach already in a foul mood at being left behind by his sisters. His mother he could understand, she had her paws full keeping up with the idiotic girls, it was their fault for not waiting up for him. They knew he couldn’t run very well, they just didn’t care. He trotted awkwardly past the doves his thin spike of a tail waving behind him as he approached Bass. He didn’t know what a Primo was but it must have been important, and his mother seemed to like him. As always he approaches the adult with wide, eager, eyes and not a hint of malice. “I wanna learn about snakes!” He piped excitedly, more interested in a learning opportunity than the food he had brought. It didn’t matter anyway, his sisters `were greedy, they probably wouldn’t leave anything for him anyway, but that ultimately was just another opportunity to score pity points from his mother and maybe even this new stranger. “I’m Tyranis, but you can call me Ty!” He says happily.

Her ears flattened at Echo's reply just before she began to bark again. Her sister's shrill barks hurt her ears and were rather unpleasant, but Corentine didn't say anymore about it. She was then distracted once the body of her other sister gently brushed against her. She looked to Aella and smiled her own little tail wagging in happiness. She grinned at her sister as she asked what she was doing.

"Hopin Echo tops barking soon and waitin for mum," she said right before her mother caught up and gently nudged her to eat.

She got up and walked over to the doves, still beside Aella and was about to eat before Aella turned to face the large white man who had brought them food. She looked to the man, not really feeling all that hungry anyway. The male introduced himself as Bass, Primo of the pack. What did Primo mean? The girl cocked her head to the left as the rest of her siblings said their names. Aside from Cloud he was the quietest of them all and Core often wondered if he could even speak. Going to look at snakes was mentioned and Corentine thought that it would be fun.

"I'm Corentine. What's Primo mean?" she asked.

She smiled as Bass nuzzled her shoulder in a warm greeting and she returned the greeting. Her tail was gently wagging as her ears listened to what went on around her. She smiled again as he spoke and she nodded.

"It should be plenty for them between that and the bugs," she said with a smile. "They did fairly well, the girls seem a bit more outgoing then the boys. I think teaching them about snakes is a good idea do you just want the girls today, or do you think you can handle all of them?"

This was one of the reasons she was so glad Bass was here to help her. The important things that deal with the kids sight she wasn't able to teach them. Sure Storm could explain in general what snakes look like, but she could not remember the differences because it's been years since she has seen snakes and she couldn't remember what each breed looked like. To have someone who can see and teach them these important things took a whole lot of weight from her shoulders.

Corentine was a wave of calm in the madness, and Aella's little tail wagged happily at her sister's reply. She felt warm and loved in her sister's comment; as if she had been noticed. Her eyes widened at Bass and she asked, "What is a snake?" She wondered if it was dangerous or friendly. From his tone she gathered it was something serious they were about to learn... Like a first land-mark; their first lesson about their home. She was excited and despite the silence of her brothers, she was as happy as Echo; albeit quieter. It would be hard to drown out the sound of Echo's joy, but she felt much the same. Her excitement was shown in her constant movement, jumping around her siblings, her little body shivering with happiness and her tail that would not stop wagging.

She froze for a moment; he had answered! Primo? What was that? She supposed that she should answer him, too. "I'm Aella!" she announced loudly, pride puffing up her little chest. But then the conversation changed and she stared with indignance at her mother. She was right here! But she felt a stab of success at being in the "outgoing" group; as if that somehow made her better than the boys. She smiled smugly at them and stared up at her mother, curious to see what else she would learn. Her mama knew everything about them!

Bass glanced at the boys as they followed in behind Storm, a smile on his face as he dipped his head towards them both. Cloud was a pretty reserved child, but he was sure that he would come more out of his shell in time. His golden gaze shifted up towards Storm as she spoke, asking if he wanted to take all five children. Sure it might be a hassle, but he had done the same for his first litter as well. Licking his lips he glanced around at them, a soft hum breaking the silence. "Well if they all want to come, I won't turn them away. It's an important lesson to learn though, children, and if you aren't on your best behaviour I will send you back to your mother. Understood?" His voice was firm, it wasn't something to play around with. Some of the snakes were harmless, but others could kill them with one bite. If a puppy spat broke out, he wouldn't hesitate to direct them back to the den. Plus now that they were out and about, he needed to make sure that they knew what was safe and what was potentially deadly.

After introducing himself, each pup spoke up and stated their names. He knew full well what they were called, but it warmed his heart to hear their little voices piping up to tell him so. Well, all except for Cloudburst. He looked at the white and black male, seeing that his gaze was right on him as well. He blinked a few times at the pause, giving him more room to answer. Bass understood being shy, he wouldn't push him just yet. But he also needed to learn that in a position such as Bass held, any question must not go unanswered. It might be hard for these kids just like it was his own, while he wasn't their sire he was stepping up slightly into the role. His children had all struggled to draw the line between dad Bass and alpha Bass. Would these ones feel the same?
