Gamble On The Sunrise

Morning was a phenomenon gilded and bathed by the first light of dawn, an epoch so rarely witnessed it was often mistaken for a fable. Slender fingers of sunlight curled around the equator, and though the dormant land still a hostage of obscurity, it offered a promise of warmth. Early autumn days were characterized by color and warmth, humid tendencies inviting mist to shroud the shoreline of the lake. Despite its opaqueness, the rock nestled at its heart remained discernible, the very epitome of the quiet waters mimicking the very foot of a wolf. It was rather remarkable for those who have never laid eyes on it, to those who underestimated natures design capacity.
Roused eyes of an equally golden hue briefed the shoreline, its vacancy was perhaps a facade in the mist as many scents whirled in its ghastly tendrils. Nevertheless company did not intimidate her, though limited visibility in a new area did hold concerns. Gently she strode closer to the waters edge, the quietude of the place unrivaled; even the waters seemed to ebb in silence. The only audible noise was the choppy cadence of Oriana’s footfalls as she pulled up sand in her travels. Her primarily black coat was but a faint silhouette against the pastoral colors of sunrise through the mist. It seemed to mute their brightness and somewhat contain the light, but ultimately morning would prevail.
Her motion only ceased when both forepaws were submerged beneath the waters surface. She lowered her well sculpted crown to drink; unwavering eyes bouncing from her right to her left in anticipation. Excitement welled up in her, as an avid explorer finding new terrain was among her top interests. The land all to her east was unexplored, but certainly wouldn’t remain in that state for too long. Corpulent skull ascended, yet she remained, fixated in a daydream like state staring out towards the shrouded rock; a gentle huff expelled from her expanding chest, echoing delicately before tapering off into the calmness of dawn.
