More Than Useless

It felt like forever since she last saw her... Well, to be perfectly honest she didn't even know how to categorize her relationship with Zephyr anymore. They were friendly again, exchanged the occasional tender moment, it was clear both still had feelings for one another and yet she still didn't know what they were. Their issues still had never been worked out, so a sense of thick tension seemed to lie just below the cheery surface. It all left her reeling and feeling sick should she dwell on it too much. Walking further and further was the only thing she had left to cope with this turmoil. Today her lengthy legs had crossed the second greatest distance since arriving in this land. Warmth still clung to this area, even as winter approached, though it wouldn't remain long. The morning had been even more nippy then it had been in autumn, relief only coming as high noon approached, the glowing disk of the sun climbing ever higher into the sky.

Trudging her way across the flat ground the lone figure moved with head held low. Today was lovely but it went unnoticed by the pale woman, her ice blue eyes covered by a sparkling film of dampness that was all to familiar to her by now. Even as she drew close to a great pool of water and flopped down to quench the thirst she didn't know plagued her it was clear she could feel her stomach dropping. Teetering on the edge of breaking down, she remained still, chin resting in the lake with her nose just above the water line. She felt useless.
