Ebony crown skull dips as fleshy, pink tongue darts out from between blackened lips to lap up the cool, refreshing water. A dry season was rampant as even the bay seemed to hold less water than it should have. The analytical male had noticed it was a rather quiet journey with not much prey scurrying about. Most must of migrated to larger sources of water, a trip he and Mikaela would have to make soon. It wouldn't be long before the rumbling of his empty stomach would trigger the brute into action. For now, he would have to settle on giving his poor paw pads a quick rest.

The bay never failed when it came to providing one with both a beautiful sight, a drink, and maybe if someone either lucky or very skilled, a meal. Mikaela laid a good distance away from her brother who was busy quenching his thirst. Usually he'd be quick to bark orders at her and bitch about her venturing off too far, but on the bay he could always keep her In his sight. So the girl laid at the waters edge, allowing her paws to gently dangle in the water, gently moving her paw around, twirling it in the water, using an unsheathed claw to create tiny water tornados.

After awhile, slowly she picked her head up, with sea foam hues resting on her brother as he drank. She observed that he was still quite busy, taking his time resting up. So now was her chance. While her brother wasn't looking she slowly crawled a short distance, and then booked it for the nearby brush. What was she trying to accomplish? Well that would be the pure thrill of her brother not being able to scold, or bark orders at her. Just for a moment, it was quite satisfying. So once she was sure she was out of his sight she gently laid down, letting her body fall to the earth below.

stars are only visible in darkness

The places Saint found himself at. It was both intriguing and just this side of terrifying, he wondered where he could have ended up at if he had just let his paws keep going. Well, in a sense that question was already answered because look where he was now. Lost and alone. 'How sad.' His ears fell back as he turned his head back down the path he had taken, tracing and following the prints in the sand out until he couldnt see them anymore. He became very aware of the silence and the slight chill in the air, specifically at his sides. Maybe this was all supposed to mean something, be grateful for what you have, cherish your loved ones and all that stuff. Except what lesson would the adolescence learn from that? He already was grateful and cherished his loved ones as much as he knew how and yet still, he got screwed over again by fate or his own crud luck. Maybe was mother was right...

Caught in his own head Saint tried to get out of it by focusing on his surroundings, the white sand almost looked like snow if you thought hard about it, the bay winds and it being winter made the area colder than it ever should be. His dual-colored eyes stared at the strange trees that seem to grow out of the water, it made him a bit uncomfortable looking at the roots, or trunks, or whatever they were, seem to disappear beneath the water surface. A masked face then trailed up the water line and down the bay to see a large dark wolf, Saint was unaware of the other wolf in the brush. Being one to always introduce himself first he gave a short bark and called a greeting to the large dark wolf. "Enjoying the water?" Saint's head tipped to the side a little and his ears were pulled forward.

and i,

i feel so alive

His sister was a bit away, playing in the bay. She always seemed so amused by the little things. Sitric wished he could be as carefree as her, but he had promised their mama that he would always be the one to ensure Mikaela's safety. In order to do so, he had gone through intensive training. To master how to think, speak, and act smarter. Out of the corner of his eye, her figure quickly darts into the brush and before he can curse her desires to make his life difficult, a stranger shows up. Ear flickers forward as the stranger lets out a friendly bark. He didn't seem like an issue, although appearances were deceiving at times. "Yes," he greets, taking a couple steps forward. Normally he wouldn't of spoken, instead just turn his back and hoped the other would leave, but a diversion was required. He didn't want the canine to realize his sibling was hidden, so he would venture closer to avoid the male from approaching. Rough vocals are clear, precise with his command as he merges into his native tongue. "Inte kommit ut ännu. Främling./Don't come out yet. Stranger." He hoped Mikaela had not journeyed too far, unable to receive his words as green orbs shift over gray adolescent. Hopefully he wasn't a speaker of their language. Otherwise, Sitric had just blown his sibling's cover. Although the skillful thinker always had another trick up his sleeve.

The clouds were lazily drifting across an otherwise perfect forget-me-not blue sky.. As the girl laid on her back, seafoam hues watched as the clouds rolled across the sky. Everything seemed so carefree for a moment, it was just her thoughts, and herself. Then a voice broke her silence, she wasn't really trying to listen so she didn't make the word out. Most likely it was just her brother cursing her again, welp.....until next time. She gently rolled to her left back onto her stomach before lethargically raising herself to all fours. She was just about to come out and regroup with her brother until she heard her brother speak their native tongue. Stranger.. Her silver head gently poked out from behind the brush as she watched the two. She didn't really know why her brother was so.....cautious. But this time she'd listen, she ever so quietly lowered herself to the eart, head still poking out to see what was going on.
