Neptune's huge paws crunched through the snow rather noisily no matter how hard he tried to keep them from doing so. Not that he thought anyone was around besides the buffalo to hear his loud, clumsy feet anyway, but it still made him a bit self conscious. Neptune did his best to tune out the obnoxious crunching as he walked while he hoped that winter wouldn't last too much longer. He didn't mind the cold that much. He had lived in the north for a long time while he was little so he was pretty used to it. And his fur was pretty thick. But the snow was so annoying!

He stopped for a second and looked around. The thought of someone being around her hear his pawsteps made him wonder if there was actually someone there that he hadn't noticed yet. He was noticeable from a mile away with his blue-hued fur and huge size, but maybe there was someone with all white fur that could hide really easily! He wondered if there were any green wolves out there that could hide really well in the springtime when all the grasses and trees were grown in and pretty. Surely there was somewhere in the world. While he was musing and pondering these things he completely forgot about looking for other wolves and kept going on his way, crunching all the while.

She wanted to do it, but couldn't. She couldn't leave her beloved buffalo that she had grown up with every day. Not that the herd accepted her as one of their own, but to her they were precious. They were all she really had day in and day out of her life. Even though there were fewer now that the snow was covering the world, they were still here, and as long as they were here, than so would she be. That morning, she had rolled out of the den and walked as quietly as she could through the snow, though even with her efforts her paws would crunch lightly in the snow. Ears flicked as the small herd groaned in the distance, seemingly restless though she wasn't sure why.

Maybe they ached to wander like she did. Maybe they were tired of staying in one place...like she did. Yet here they remained, some of them, anyway. Just like her. Molten gaze wandered towards them once in a while, though she kept her distance, they were used to her presence around them. Still, she didn't dare get underfoot. She knew that if they grew angry or protective, they could trample her beneath them as if she were no more than a bug. The sky was grey, cold, cloudy. It made the world around her almost quiet, the only sound were that of the buffalo and her own footsteps, which...oddly began to sound louder. She slower her pace, the crunch of the snow not sounding any quieter. Brows furrowed a bit, head tilting slightly as she listened. The footsteps sounded...off. Were they even hers?

She stopped where she was, the girl standing still as she stood tall and listened. The crunching continued, but it definitely wasn't from her. She looked around, molten gaze searching for the source until she spotted something. Not far from her, she spotted something moving. Or...someone? She rubbed her eyes with a foreleg, taking a second good look. Were her eyes playing tricks on her? Was that...was the snow moving? Was it a type of snow creature!? She took several steps closer, quietly trying to follow. She tentatively sniffed the ground where the other foot steps were, noting that they were much larger than her own. Not only that, but it smelled like a wolf! Lifting her head, her tail wagged. "Hey! Hey Big Blue!" She called out. While she didn't know the others name, Big Blue sounded fitting considering his larger bulk and fur color.

The sound of his own loud, crunching, clumsy, over-sized paws kept him from hearing the softer crunching of the girl walking toward him. Her voice was able to get his attention though and he stopped mid step with one forepaw in the air. His head flung around comically with his golden eyes wide with interest. His gaze landed on the smaller girl that had the prettiest orange and black stripes all over her and he gave her a huge, happy grin. "Oh, hi!" he replied excitedly while he turned toward her and trotted over to where she was standing, resuming the loud crunching from his paws for a few more moments.

Neptune was still a yearling, but he was getting close to his second year and because of that he was getting pretty close to being full grown. He realized as he got closer to her how much taller than her he was. He hadn't seen another wolf in so long, probably before his last growth spurt, so it was almost a bit startling to see how tall he was. Were most wolves smaller than him? Or was she just abnormally short? Either way he was really happy to see her! "Hi hi hi!" he said again as he stopped a couple of feet in front of her with his tail wagging gently behind him. His voice was getting deeper and it created quite the contrast between this deeper voiced almost-man and his chipper, hyper personality.
