Disturbed and distressed

Today found the vixen trying her hardest to find a new place to settle. She was unnerved. She had been out last night hunting only to find her den dug up this morning and the herbs there destroyed. The work had been done by something much larger than any wolf she had ever seen. It had looked like either bear or maybe a badger. The food shortage seemed to be getting to them as they seemed to have been after her, and luckily she hadn't been home. She knew she would have to go back soon to try to salvage any of the pelts she could, but she didn't want to go alone or stick around this morning when she found her den dug up. She didn't know if the predator was still around.

She hopped over a frozen river and into the thicket of red bud trees in hibernation. This place was nice but she didn't like it as much as her lakeside home. She had thought about going to one of the packs around but she thought better. She had nothing to give them for doing a job as dangerous as hunting such a predator. And she didn't know what packs would allow a stray fox to join them and be a trusted healer among them. Dart could help her but with her being in heat she wasn't sure if it was a good idea. She stooped moving andx sat at the base of a tree with a sigh. Today was becoming a bummer.
