Joining a pack, that was really the only logical choice she had, wasn?t it? Though, honestly, it mattered very little to her where she went at this point; she felt like she was traveling in a perpetual fog ? she hardly even remembered what the lands she passed on the way here even looked like. She remembered the sky much better? how cloudy it had been, big fluffy marshmallows blocking out the sun.
Oh well, she was here now, wasn?t she? Standing on the very edge of this pack?s territory, her paws carefully on the correct side of the scent markings ? the details were perfect, but that was more out of habit than conscious will. Laws were always meant to be followed but yet not followed. Order and chaos was enough of a problem to think about without adding on ?good? and ?evil? onto that stupid pile.
The grey female tightly shut her eyes, ears stretching back against her skull for a moment. Enough with that, really. Being a philosopher wasn?t going to get her anywhere, even if she were halfway decent at it. It was bad enough she was small ? 26 inches tall, probably shorter than most that would appear on the scene to check her out ? but to have an easily distracted mind? Terrible.
Opening her blue eyes, Abigail straightened up, tightening her facial muscles in a half-hearted attempt to look serious rather than vulnerable. But it didn?t quite work out.
?Anyone out there? I?m, um, here to j-join,? she declared, or at least tried to. Her voice was certainly loud enough, she got that part right, but her tone betrayed her lack of self-confidence and the nervousness buzzing around in the forefront of her mind, distracting her like a bunch of persistent flies. Her posture then became flustered, and she shifted restively between all four paws.
Wasn?t she forgetting something? Right, right, she was forgetting something what was it?. She cleared her throat awkwardly, ducking her chin slightly as she added, in a quieter voice that betrayed her nerves far more than before, ?I-I?m Abigail, by the way.? Because they obviously needed her name, what were they supposed to call her otherwise? Stupid, stupid, stupid.

Vendetta had been wandering around the territory, not straying from where she'd been confined to, when the stranger's calls reached her ears. She, herself, had joined recently and decided to go.. welcome her. So, the grey canine made her way over to her, emerald gaze calculating.
She appeared behind her, as quiet as a mouse. She rounded her right side, circling her to come to a stop right in front of her. "Ahh, what do we have here? Abigail, was it?" she barked simply, gliding her tongue over her lips. "Dear Bass will be around here soon.. I'll gladly entertain you until he comes along."

The wafting scent of a stranger reached Bass' nose, who had been resting on top of his den. The flat rock had been warmed by the sun and felt amazing on his white belly. But the scent, he needed to investigate. So away he went, picking up the pace when Vendetta's scent crossed his nose. Growling softly he raced the rest of the way, easily picking out the two females. Vendetta's smooth voice reached out, which caused him to narrow his golden eyes. "You don't have to wait long, I am never far away." He spoke calmly, his eyes easing as he greeted the strange female. "Abigail, was it? Pleasure to meet you. I am Bass Destruction, and I am Azat of these lands. This here is Vendetta." He knew that he might as well point out her name, since she seemed to be inclined to deny it from most ears.
The large white boy flopped onto his rump, looking over the girl before him. She seemed shy, shaky even. He grinned broadly at her, trying to ease any doubt or worry within her mind. "Were you interested in joining Abaven? If so, what kind of rank were you hoping for? Here we have three base ranks, healer, messenger, or guard. Which would suit you best, Abigail?" Bass' voice was soft and sweet, not wanting to frighten the poor girl. She seemed to be shaky enough as is.

And suddenly there were others ? to her, anyway, that?s how it seemed to go down. Her blue eyes shifted between the female and the male, her cranium cocking to the side as she noted the authority of the male. She gathered this one was important, probably. Especially since the female had referred to him by name ? right, right, she couldn?t be stupid, this one was probably in charge, yes?
?Yes, my name is Abigail,? the grey wolf responded to Vendetta, ducking her head slightly, nervously noting the other female?s calculating look. She found herself glad that the pack leader had come along so quickly.
And then her blue eyes widened, ears flicking back slightly as she realized that she had spoken to this odd female before him ? would that be taken as a sign of discourtesy? A sign that she didn?t think he was an authoritative figure? Her heart started beating quicker in her chest; a simple little mistake like that was amplified thousandfold in her mind.
At least she knew his name and that the alpha rank was called Azat here. That was good, good to know. And he almost seemed to be grinning at her ? ?is that out of malice or not?? was the thought that spun around in her head. But she pushed that aside since, honestly, he was trying to explain something to her, and it would be more than rude if she was too caught up in embarrassment to pay attention. Wasn?t that selfish? Yes, it sounded selfish to her.
?I-I, um, I-I think healing fits me best, Az-zat Bass Destruction,? she stuttered out, mostly due to the fact her jaw muscles were quivering with nervousness. She didn?t honestly understand why some thought that embarrassment had to do with ?flushed? sensations ? she felt cold when she was nervous, like all the heat had rushed out of her body along with her dignity. At least she hadn?t stuttered out his name, oh no, she wouldn?t even let herself think about that embarrassment.
At least she could choose what field to go into here ? she didn?t honestly think that being a guard or messenger would do any good for her nerves, what with all that interaction with others: spars or messages. Maybe she could spend a hell of a lot of time with plants now; plants didn?t criticize, so they were much better than animals in that regard.
She dipped her head further, the motion jerky and awkward. ?I-I, um, hope that?s an acceptable choice, Az-zat Bass Destruction. I-I want to be useful; I?d rather be useful to Abaven than not, sir,? she added, keeping her blue eyes trained on the pack leader as she spoke. However, her other senses were on high alert all this time, and that was easily seen by the occasional swivel of an ear to pick up on the odd noise or so. She was acutely aware of her surroundings, that much was obvious, but she was utterly terrified by external stimuli: quite a paradox, but a paradox with reason behind it.

She smirked as she heard the alabaster male make his appearance, not even sparing him a glance. She didn't see a need to since she knew exactly who it was and where they were just by their scent. Aside from the sly smile that she held on her features, her expression was still quite stony - even when the Azat spoke her name. The only thing that fluctuated was the position of her gaze, constantly shifting about. She was the watchful kind, you see, always observing evey little thing, every miniscule detail to store and analyze later. It was what made her so good, so much better than Mirabelle, by her standards. Compared to her, she thought of the other female as a child just learning how to walk. Arrogance? No, confidence. She was very, very confident in her abilities and whether that was well-placed was yet to be decided.
But back to the joiner. She chose healing? Why? It was a useless practice, it's only purpose to postpone the inevitable. If someone got themselves injured to the point of death, then let them die. It was their own weakness that brought this on and they ought to pay the price. It was a waste of time to heal them, they should have to pay for their mistakes.
Yet, sadly, the world didn't share her views on the matterso she kept her mouth shut. She simply gave a flick of her ear, growing quite bored of this.

Abigail
{ "speaking" } { actions } { "thoughts" }
Well, if Vendetta was good at absorbing details, Abigail was probably giving out much more than most ? how often did a wolf shudder like this just in a joining thread? Oh, yes, there was definitely something off about this one, but that was to be unraveled over time. But at least she was aware enough to notice some degree of tension between the pera and her new leader ? really, they had hardly even looked at each other, despite the fact they were packmates. Maybe packs were different than she thought? "If just one of my assumptions is wrong? then all of them could be wrong!" was the paranoid thought that shot through her mind, ricocheting around and noisily stirring up more unease. For, truly, this lupine was a creature that was incapable of relaxing.
But the male was making an effort to be friendly. Hell, he didn?t have to do that ? he was the lord here, he could do as he pleased. So then did gratitude swell in her mind, and her heartbeat slow (marginally) from its frantic thumps. Her choice was the correct one, and she was, indeed, useful. By being useful, she was increasing the efficiency of her pack and therefore adding in another barrier of order against entropy.
Her body stiffened momentarily at the contact ? she wasn?t used to physical touches, at least not friendly ones like a paw on her chin to remind her that sometimes excessive submission wasn?t welcome. Her tail flicked behind her happily ? not quite a wag, but a small sign of happiness ? at his words. ?I-I?ll try not to let you down, Az-zat Bass,? she spoke, still calling him by his title. It was only proper, no?
ooc ? End of the thread, I suppose?
