All That Remains [Pack Meeting]
He quickly set up his defenses again just as Torin tucked his head and pushed forward and into Frost. Attempting to hold his ground and not allow Torin to overpower him into stumbling backward. Though he didn't catch the boy lifting up his leg for a paw slam until Torin's paw smashed down on his own left front paw. He grit his teeth at the pain, but relaxed that paw in an attempt to prevent further damage. He then took a step forward with his right rear paw and began to push his body into Torin's. Pushing back against him so that hopefully he would get off of his left front paw.
He then tried to use his inch difference in height, lifting his high to try and get his head out of the reach of the jaws of Torin. Instead of Torin getting the hold he sought he grabbed a hold of skin and fur lower on Frost's neck. Frost turned his head towards his left and pointed his muzzle downward just a bit as his jaws opened searching to grab a hold of Torin's scruff.

Most were quiet right off the bat, which was a little disappointing. Not too many seemed all that surprised either that Faite was gone. He didn't dwell on it and instead turned his attention to Kairi first since she spoke. She didn't say anything about their mother, but instead chose a rank. He gave her an encouraging smile and nodded. "You're a Levada then. If you don't feel like the rank suits you in a few weeks then you can always change it." He would have offered to help her figure it out, but it wasn't like he was some wise old wolf who knew everything. Maybe another member of the pack would help her out.
Jaidah requested the same rank and he nodded to her as well. If his sisters were choosing that rank then he was more than curious as to what his two brothers would say. His attention didn't stay on that thought for long as Torin spoke up and stated that he was challenging for Kaliq. His siblings' comments flew right over his head as he stared at Torin with ... well he couldn't tell what he was feeling. Should he even allow this? What was Torin thinking? Frostbite was an older male with a fair amount of experience. Did Torin feel like he'd chosen his secondary wrong? He hoped not cause that particular thought was painful. He wasn't perfect at this whole alpha thing, but he was trying. It was why he'd chosen Frost in the first place.
Finally he glanced towards Frost as the male accepted Torin's challenge. Well it seemed too late to change his mind now and so Rory just sat back and decided to wait it out. He supposed he owed Torin the chance to prove himself so long as Frost was accepting of a fight. He still wasn't prepared as Torin sprang forward and Rory could barely keep himself from cringing as his brother smashed into the older male. And then Frost's attack had him cringing again as the wolf headbutted Torin in the rib cage. It was hard to watch his sibling be put in pain, but he could also tell Frost was taking great care not to leave any lasting wounds on him either so he clamped his teeth shut.
They scuffled for a bit longer and it wasn't until Torin had a hold of Frost's neck and Frost retaliating that Rory decided he'd seen enough. "Enough!" He barked in a loud and commanding tone. Hopefully it was enough to get them to break apart from one another. He really didn't want to get involved and he wanted to break it apart before things got too serious. "Torin, Frost, you both fought well, but I still think Frost's experience still outweighs both mine and yours Torin. I still choose him to be Kaliq." He gave his sibling a sympathetic look for a moment. That wasn't to say Torin couldn't try again in the future, but for now Rory had made up his mind. "For now you can take your pick of whatever rank you'd like. I think Arsenio would suit you, but if you'd like the opportunity to lead then the rank of Fola or Iliff are options." He was impressed with Torin's ambition at the very least and he deserved the opportunity to learn just as he was.
"Speech"
Rory's voice broke through the scuffling and the two combating wolves stopped, and Torin untangled himself from the older male. Already his wounds were starting to ache and he looked at his brother with a mix of worry and pride though it quickly moved to an impassive mask as his brother spoke. He blinked for a moment, the briefest hint of frustration flickering across his gaze the only visible shift in his demeanor as his brother granted Frostbite the rank he so desperately sought. He stood silently for what felt like an eternity as he ran through his options. Arsenio... like dad? He briefly flicked his gaze to his father and again felt his stomach knot. No, he wasn't sure he could stand that. He didn't want to just protect the pack, he wanted- no needed to know he could do everything he could to help those he could. "I'd prefer Iliff, if you'll allow." He rumbled, his tone empty of emotion. He winced slightly, his mind turning to his fresh wounds he was about to turn tail when he thought better of it. "May we both be allowed to leave to tend to our wounds?" He asked, nodding at Frostbite as he spoke to his brother. He figured at this point all the important business had been taken care of but he wanted to be sure, his face still a mask of impassivity though he was antsy to be away from all the watching eyes. |
Rory still granted him the Rank and Frost was grateful for the opportunity. He also granted the chance for Torin to be in a higher rank also which meant he had to be pleased with Torin's sudden Ambition. This also gave Frost an idea, one that would hopefully help keep a decent relationship with Torin. Perhaps Frost could help train Torin, Frost knew he maybe only had a few years in this rank with his current age. That way Rory could truly have someone prepared to step in when Frost's age would catch up to him.
Torin made his decision of the rank of Heir, but Frost wouldn't leave his idea go for now. He would visit him at a later time and see if Torin would be interested in the idea. He didn't want to crush any dreams or ideas that Torin might have, instead he wanted to help the younger male grow. Then Torin asked if both himself and Frost could leave to tend to themselves and he nodded to the younger man at his thoughtfulness.
