His legs were getting longer and longer and he had more stamina, which meant the boy could wander further and further from the den, much to his parents chagrin. Today he'd gone further south, padding through the fruit trees for some time before his progress was impeded, the way forward cut off by the largest body of water he'd ever seen! This wasn't like the little puddles he sometimes found in the orchard, little and sometimes smelly, this was a great big line of water cutting through the ground and flowing off to who knew where.

Scampering over to the waters edge Amos peered into the river, bright eyes widening to nearly double their normal size as he watched shimmering creatures swim through the water as it lazily went by. What were those?! They looked so cool, so pretty! Slowly he stepped into the water while still keeping eyes on the shiny creatures. The water closest to the shore lapping at the sand wasn't terribly deep, just halfway up his legs. He stood for a bit, watching the fish which he didn't know the name of as they swam all around him, carefully out of the pups reach, until getting distracted by a particularly massive butterfly and scrambling out of the water to race after it.

A skeleton with nothing but dark skin scurried across the plains and thickets, hunched over and back paws close to the front. It was weird how the creature so lost still somehow managed to get around. How did it hunt? How did it serve without a purpose?

Just a quick gait of trotting, the thing wouldn't even take a second to stop. It kept pushing, and pushing, over to the water and down in the bank, the rush of the river getting ready to shove it under. But The creature made it across the river, onto the other side and wouldn't stop but about five feet from the bank.

Not so much a gentle break, the thing just collapsed onto the plains though in a somewhat normal function. It's chin rest on one paw as it laid somewhat to the side. Perhaps it would rested here... yes... it would.

The sound of a young pup playing and chasing around him he would ignore. He probably looked like a dead body just laying about in the grass anyway.

Tri-colored eyes locked on his butterfly target, Amos leaped and hopped about, jumping high into the air and missing his quarry each time. Tiny jaws snapped on empty air, the boy descending and landing once more. This time he waited a little longer to jump, trying to focus and predict the insects erratic movements. With a 'fierce' growl he'd leap again, this time getting a mouthful of papery wings. When he landed Amos paused a moment, face slowly twisting from triumph to disgust. Spitting out the nasty bug and wiping his tongue off with a paw for good measure, he then shook out his dark fur hoping to rid himself entirely of the very memory of that icky thing.

Turning back towards the water, he thought he smelled something... weird. Frowning, the pup glanced around, unable to see much of anything over the grasses and reeds growing by the river due to his less than impressive height. Padding back into the water, he tromped about, following the shoreline and splashing the whole way with those great big puppy paws. When the smell connected to a creature, dark, damp, and seemingly made of skin and bones, the boy stopped in his tracks, eyes widening to a size most would not think possible. Continuing to eye the stranger for a bit, still not entirely convinced it was another wolf, much less that it was alive, Amos tried to discern whether the lump was a threat. His fur stood up along his spine, but still the boy held fast to his position in the water, calling out softly, "Are... are you okay?" uncertainty heavy in his voice but still no sign of real and true fear. He was curious, though ready to call for one of his parents at any moment.

Eyes whipped open to the presence of a pup, looking down on him and asking if he were okay. But even though BLANK acted like a deer in headlights, he slowly sat up to come around the pups height or even just a tad taller. He blinked at the boy for a moment, an awkward pause between the two as he couldn't really figure out what to do.

A smile came across his face, a very delayed reaction at that. "Yes, I am - okay." He responded in broken breaths. Not so much because his health was deteriorated, his response was more robot-like if anything. "I appear to be... a little hungry."

He was definitely an odd creature. Not only was he starved, but he mental reacted to whoever he was with. In this case, it was a young pup and this was the only information he was getting. So a smile came across for the harmless being.
